Model: BCS360GRY

1. Introduction

Welcome to the Ergobaby Omni Classic Baby Carrier instruction manual. This carrier is designed to provide maximum comfort and versatility for both parent and child, supporting babies from newborn to toddler (7-45 lbs) across multiple carry positions without the need for an infant insert. Please read this manual thoroughly before using your carrier to ensure safe and proper use.

2. Safety Information

WARNING: Failure to follow these instructions can result in serious injury or death.

  • Always ensure your baby's airway is clear and visible.
  • Regularly check all buckles, straps, and adjustments to ensure they are securely fastened before each use.
  • Ensure baby is seated in the ergonomic "M" position with knees higher than bottom to support healthy hip development.
  • Do not use the carrier if any part is damaged or missing.
  • Be aware of your baby's needs and comfort. If your baby shows signs of discomfort, remove them from the carrier.
  • Avoid activities that could put your baby at risk, such as cooking, running, or operating machinery, while wearing the carrier.
  • The carrier is suitable for babies weighing 7-45 lbs (3.2-20.4 kg).

3. Key Features

  • All-in-One Versatility: Supports babies from newborn to toddler (7-45 lbs) with no infant insert needed.
  • Multiple Carry Positions: Front-inward, front-outward, hip, and back carry.
  • Ergonomic "M" Position: Ensures healthy hip development for your baby in all positions.
  • Premium Cotton Fabric: Made from 100% cotton for softness and breathability.
  • Lumbar Support Waist Belt: Provides maximum comfort and prevents lower back pain for the wearer.
  • Padded Shoulder Straps: Adjustable and can be worn crisscross for a snug fit.
  • Detachable Storage Pouch: Conveniently holds essentials like phone, keys, and wallet.
  • Baby Hood: Offers sun protection and privacy for sleeping or nursing.
  • Machine Washable: Easy to clean and maintain.

4. Setup and Adjustment

Before placing your baby in the carrier, familiarize yourself with its components and adjustments.

  1. Waist Belt Adjustment: Wrap the lumbar support waist belt around your natural waist or hips. Secure the buckle and tighten the straps until snug but comfortable. The waist belt should sit firmly to distribute weight effectively.
  2. Shoulder Strap Configuration: The shoulder straps can be worn parallel (H-style) or crossed (X-style) on your back. Adjust the chest clip (for H-style) or shoulder strap buckles (for X-style) to ensure a comfortable and secure fit.
  3. Seat Adjustment: The Omni Classic features an adjustable bucket seat. For newborns and smaller babies, ensure the seat is narrowed to support their hips in the "M" position. As your baby grows, widen the seat to maintain proper hip positioning.
  4. Head & Neck Support: For newborns and infants who lack head control, ensure the head and neck support pillow is properly positioned to cradle their head.

5.1. Front-Inward Carry (Newborn +)

This position is ideal for newborns and infants, providing close contact and support. Ensure the seat is narrowed for proper hip positioning.

  1. Fasten the waist belt securely around your waist.
  2. Hold your baby against your chest, then bring the carrier panel up over their back.
  3. Slide one arm through a shoulder strap, then the other.
  4. Fasten the chest clip (if using H-style straps) or adjust crisscross straps.
  5. Ensure baby's knees are higher than their bottom, forming an "M" shape, and their head is supported.

5.2. Front-Outward Carry (5 months +)

For babies with strong head and neck control who are curious about their surroundings. Ensure the seat is adjusted to the wider setting for outward facing.

  1. Fasten the waist belt securely.
  2. Adjust the carrier's seat to the outward-facing position by sliding the buttons on the front of the carrier.
  3. Position your baby facing outwards on your front.
  4. Bring the carrier panel up and secure the shoulder straps as described for front-inward carry.
  5. Ensure baby's chin is not resting on their chest and their airway is clear.

5.3. Hip Carry (6 months +)

Suitable for older babies who enjoy looking around while maintaining close contact.

  1. Fasten the waist belt around your waist, slightly off-center to the side you wish to carry your baby.
  2. Position your baby on your hip, then bring the carrier panel up over their back.
  3. Slide one arm through the shoulder strap closest to your baby, then bring the other strap over your opposite shoulder.
  4. Secure and adjust all straps for comfort and support.

5.4. Back Carry (6 months +)

For older babies and toddlers, offering comfort for longer periods of carrying.

  1. This position requires practice. It is recommended to practice with a spotter or over a soft surface.
  2. Fasten the waist belt around your waist.
  3. Carefully transfer your baby from your front or hip to your back, guiding them into the carrier.
  4. Bring the shoulder straps over your shoulders and secure the chest clip in front.
  5. Adjust all straps to ensure your baby is high enough on your back to kiss their head, and they are secure.
