Setup

1. Unpacking and Assembly

The RIG 500 headset is designed for modular assembly. Carefully remove all components from the packaging.

  1. Attach the earcups to the desired position on the headband. The earcups slide into slots on the headband frame.
  2. Connect the microphone boom to the left earcup. Ensure it clicks securely into place.
  3. Connect the audio cable to the headset.

2. Connecting to Your Device

The RIG 500 headset features a single 3.5mm TRRS connector for combined audio and microphone functionality.

For PCs with separate audio and microphone ports:

Use the included Y-cable adapter. Connect the headset's 3.5mm TRRS plug to the adapter, then connect the adapter's two 3.5mm plugs (one for audio, one for microphone) to the corresponding ports on your PC.

For devices with a single 3.5mm TRRS port (Laptops, Gaming Consoles, Smartphones, Tablets):

Connect the headset's 3.5mm TRRS plug directly into the device's audio jack.

Operation

1. Adjusting Fit

The headset features an adjustable headband. Position the earcups to comfortably cover your ears. The self-adjusting headband strap helps distribute weight evenly for extended use.

2. Microphone Usage

The microphone is detachable and can be flipped up to mute. To unmute, simply flip the microphone down. Position the microphone approximately two finger-widths from your mouth for optimal voice clarity.

3. Audio Control

Use the inline volume control located on the audio cable to adjust the listening volume to your preference.

Maintenance

1. Cleaning Earcups

The earcups are removable for cleaning. Gently detach them from the headset. Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe the earcup material. Allow them to air dry completely before reattaching. Do not submerge earcups in water.

2. Cable Care

To prevent damage and tangling, avoid tightly winding the audio cable. Store the headset in a manner that prevents excessive bending or twisting of the cable.

Troubleshooting

No Sound or Low Volume

  • Ensure the headset's 3.5mm plug is fully inserted into the device's audio jack.
  • If using the Y-cable adapter, ensure both plugs are correctly inserted into the PC's audio and microphone ports.
  • Check the inline volume control on the headset cable and ensure it is not set to minimum.
  • Verify audio output settings on your computer or gaming console. Ensure the RIG 500 is selected as the default audio output device.

Microphone Not Working

  • Ensure the microphone boom is securely attached to the left earcup.
  • Confirm the microphone is flipped down and not in the muted position.
  • If using the Y-cable adapter, ensure the microphone plug is correctly inserted into the PC's microphone input port.
  • Check microphone input settings on your computer or gaming console. Ensure the RIG 500 is selected as the default input device and its volume is not muted or set too low.

Sound Leakage

The RIG 500 headset features soft, plush earcups designed for comfort. This design may result in some sound leakage. For environments requiring minimal sound leakage, alternative earcup options may be available from the manufacturer.

Cable Twisting

The headset cable is designed for flexibility. To minimize twisting, unwind the cable regularly and avoid wrapping it tightly around the headset or other objects.
