1. Introduction

This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation of your Touchstone Sideline 60-inch Smart Electric Fireplace. Please read all instructions carefully before installation and use. Retain this manual for future reference.

2. Important Safety Information

WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury, observe the following:

• Ensure the fireplace is connected to a properly grounded 110-120V outlet.
• Do not overload the electrical circuit. The unit draws a maximum of 12 amps.
• Maintain a minimum of 8 inches of space between the top of the fireplace and any television, mantel, or ceiling.
• The tempered front glass panel is designed to crumble into small, less hazardous pieces if broken.
• The sides and back of the unit remain cool to the touch when the heater is active, making it safe for recessed installation.
• This electric fireplace is ventless. If installing in an existing fireplace opening, consult a licensed professional to ensure unused gas lines and vents are properly secured.

5. Installation

The Touchstone Sideline 60-inch electric fireplace is designed for recessed in-wall installation. A wall-mount bracket is included if surface mounting is preferred.

5.1 Recessed In-Wall Installation

1. Measure and Prepare Opening: Carefully measure the height, width, and depth of your desired fireplace opening. Refer to the dimensions diagram in Section 3 for precise firebox dimensions. Ensure the opening is suitable for the unit.
2. Electrical Connection: The unit comes with a 6-foot power cord for a standard 110-120V outlet. It is also hard-wire ready. Ensure the electrical circuit can support a maximum draw of 12 amps. A dedicated 15-amp circuit is recommended; a 20-amp circuit may be necessary if other electronics share the same circuit.
3. Secure the Unit: The fireplace can be safely attached to framing studs. The design ensures the sides and back remain cool to the touch, allowing for safe recessed installation.
4. Clearance: Maintain a minimum of 8 inches of space between the top of the fireplace and any television, mantel, picture, or ceiling.
5. Existing Fireplace Openings: If installing in an existing fireplace opening, consult a licensed professional to properly secure any unused gas lines and vents. This fireplace is ventless.

5.2 Media Installation (Logs, Crystals, Driftwood)

Your fireplace includes faux logs, crystals, and driftwood. You can choose to use one type or mix them safely to create your desired aesthetic.

6. Operating Instructions

Your Touchstone Sideline fireplace can be controlled via the included remote, the built-in control panel, or the free Touchstone mobile app (Alexa/WiFi enabled).

6.1 Remote Control

The infrared (IR) remote control allows you to adjust flame color and intensity, heater settings, and the shut-off timer. (Requires 2 AAA batteries, not included).

6.2 Control Panel

The control panel on the fireplace unit provides direct access to essential functions.

6.3 Smart Features (Alexa/WiFi Enabled)

Control your fireplace from your mobile device or compatible smart home devices like Alexa or Google Home. Download the free Touchstone mobile app to connect and manage settings such as flame color, ember color, flame speed, timer, and temperature.

6.4 Flame and Ember Settings

The Sideline fireplace offers 5 flame settings, ranging from a soft ember glow to an intense blaze. Choose from 10 ember bed colors and 3 flame colors, allowing for 30 color combinations to match your preference.

6.5 Heating Function

The integrated 1500W heater provides supplemental heat for rooms up to 400 sq. ft. It features two heat settings (high/low) and a thermostat mode (68-86°F). The heater can be operated independently of the flames, allowing you to enjoy the visual effect without heat in warmer climates. A shut-off timer (1-8 hours) is also available.

7. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your electric fireplace, follow these general maintenance guidelines:

• Cleaning: Ensure the unit is turned off and unplugged before cleaning. Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the exterior surfaces. Do not use abrasive cleaners or sprays directly on the unit.
• Glass Panel: Clean the tempered glass panel with a soft, lint-free cloth and a non-abrasive glass cleaner.
• Air Vents: Periodically check and clean the air vents to ensure unobstructed airflow for the heater. Use a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment to remove dust.
• Internal Components: No user-serviceable parts inside. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.

8. Troubleshooting

If you experience issues with your fireplace, consult the following general troubleshooting steps:

• No Power: Check if the power cord is securely plugged into a grounded outlet. Verify that the circuit breaker is not tripped.
• Heater Not Working: Ensure the heater function is activated via the remote, control panel, or app. Check thermostat settings.
• Flames Not Visible: Ensure the flame function is activated and brightness settings are adjusted.
• Remote Control Issues: Replace the AAA batteries in the remote control. Ensure there are no obstructions between the remote and the fireplace's IR receiver.
• WiFi Connectivity Issues: Refer to the Touchstone app's setup guide for detailed instructions on connecting to your home WiFi network and smart devices.
