Product Overview

The Elitech RC-4HC is a versatile temperature and humidity data logger designed for precise monitoring. It features a multifunction LCD alarm indicator and a buzzer alarm, making it suitable for various applications requiring accurate environmental data. Data can be easily exported in PDF or Excel formats using the Elitech data management software. The device supports both internal and external temperature sensors for enhanced flexibility.

Setup and Installation

1. Battery Installation

The RC-4HC data logger requires a CR2450 battery for operation. Follow these steps to install the battery:

1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the device.
2. Use a coin or a flat tool to gently twist and open the battery cover.
3. Place the CR2450 battery under the small metal clip, ensuring the positive pole (marked with a plus sign) is facing upwards.
4. Replace the battery cover and twist to secure it.

2. Connecting the External Temperature Sensor

For applications requiring external temperature measurement, connect the provided external sensor to the designated port on the side of the data logger. The external sensor has a cable length of 1.1 meters.

3. Software Installation and Connection

To configure the logger and download data, you will need the Elitech data management software. This software can be downloaded from the official Elitech website. Once installed, connect the data logger to your computer using the provided USB cable.

Operating Instructions

1. Starting and Stopping Logging

To start the data logger, press the button on the device once to light up the screen. Then, press and hold the button for more than 4 seconds. A triangle sign firmly lit up on the logger screen indicates that logging has successfully started. To stop logging, connect the logger to the computer and use the software.

2. Viewing Data on the Device

While the logger is active, press the button briefly to cycle through various display parameters including current temperature, humidity, total logged points, current time, date, maximum temperature, minimum temperature, and upper/lower temperature limits.

3. Configuring Parameters via Software

After connecting the logger to your computer, open the Elitech data management software. Navigate to the "Parameter" tab to adjust settings such as the log interval (e.g., to 10 seconds), alarm limits, and temperature unit (°C/°F). Remember to click the "Save Parameter" button after making changes. This action will also clear previous data and prepare the logger for new recording sessions.

4. Data Download and Export

Once connected to the software, you can download the recorded data. The Elitech software allows you to export data in various formats, including PDF and Excel, for easy analysis and reporting.

• Cleaning: Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the casing or screen.
• Battery Replacement: Replace the CR2450 battery when the low battery indicator appears on the LCD screen to ensure continuous operation and data integrity. Refer to the "Battery Installation" section for detailed steps.
• Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the data logger in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

Troubleshooting

• Device Not Starting/Displaying:
  • Check if the battery is correctly installed and has sufficient charge. Replace if necessary.
  • Ensure the device is properly powered via the CR2450 battery or USB interface.
• Logging Not Initiating:
  • Confirm that you have pressed and held the button for more than 4 seconds until the triangle sign is firmly lit on the screen.
  • Verify that parameters have been saved correctly via the software after any changes. Saving parameters typically resets the device and prepares it for a new logging session.
• Connection Issues with Computer:
  • Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the logger and the computer.
  • Try a different USB port on your computer.
  • Restart the Elitech data management software or your computer.
  • Check your computer's Device Manager for any unrecognized USB devices and update drivers if needed.
• Inaccurate Readings:
  • Ensure the external sensor (if used) is properly connected and placed in the desired measurement environment.
  • Check for any physical damage to the sensors or the device.
  • Consider recalibrating the device using the software if persistent inaccuracies are observed.
