  • Do not place the humidifier directly on carpet, towels, or other absorbent surfaces.
  • Do not operate the humidifier without water in the tank.
  • Always unplug the humidifier from the electrical outlet before filling, cleaning, or moving it.
  • Keep the humidifier out of reach of children and pets.
  • Do not block air vents or mist outlet.
  • Do not add essential oils, medications, or other additives directly into the water tank or base unless specifically designed for this unit's scent pad tray.

4. Setup

  1. Placement: Place the humidifier on a firm, level, water-resistant surface. Ensure it is at least 12 inches (30 cm) from walls and 3 feet (0.9 m) from heat sources.
  2. Filling the Water Tank:
    • Remove the water tank from the humidifier base.
    • Turn the tank upside down and unscrew the tank cap.
    • Fill the tank with cool, clean tap water. For best results and to minimize mineral dust, use distilled or demineralized water, especially in hard water areas.
    • Securely replace the tank cap, ensuring it is tightened to prevent leaks.
    • Place the filled water tank back onto the humidifier base, ensuring it is seated correctly.
  3. Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a 120V AC electrical outlet.

5. Operating Instructions

  1. Power On/Off: Turn the control knob clockwise to the 'ON' position to start the humidifier. Turn it counter-clockwise to the 'OFF' position to turn it off.
  2. Adjusting Mist Intensity: Rotate the control knob to adjust the mist output from low to high. Start with a lower setting and adjust as needed to achieve your desired humidity level.
  3. Using Vicks VapoPads (Optional):
    • Open the scent pad tray located on the humidifier base.
    • Insert one Vicks VapoPad (VSP-19) into the tray. Do not tear or open the pad.
    • Close the scent pad tray. The humidifier's heat will activate the soothing vapors.
    • Replace VapoPads after 8 hours of use or when the scent is no longer noticeable.
  4. Automatic Shut-off: The humidifier will automatically shut off when the water tank is empty. Refill the tank to resume operation.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning is essential for optimal performance and to prevent mineral buildup and bacterial growth. Always unplug the humidifier before cleaning.

Daily Maintenance:

  • Empty any remaining water from the tank and base.
  • Rinse the water tank and base thoroughly with cool water.
  • Allow all parts to air dry completely before reassembling or storing.

Weekly Cleaning (Descaling):

  1. Unplug and Disassemble: Unplug the humidifier and remove the water tank. Empty any water from the tank and base.
  2. Clean Water Tank: Fill the water tank with 1 cup (250 ml) of undiluted white vinegar. Swish the vinegar around in the tank to coat all interior surfaces. Let it soak for 20 minutes.
  3. Clean Base: Pour 1/2 cup (125 ml) of undiluted white vinegar into the base. Gently wipe the interior surfaces of the base with a soft cloth or sponge soaked in vinegar. Pay special attention to the water pick-up tube and transducer (the small disc that produces mist). Let it soak for 20 minutes.
  4. Remove Water Pick-up Tube: For thorough cleaning, carefully remove the water pick-up tube from the bottom of the motor housing and soak it in vinegar for 5 minutes. This step is crucial for proper humidistat function.
  5. Rinse: After soaking, thoroughly rinse the water tank, base, and water pick-up tube with clean, cool water until the smell of vinegar is gone. Ensure no vinegar residue remains.
  6. Disinfect (Optional): For disinfection, mix 1 teaspoon of bleach with 1 gallon of water. Fill the tank with this solution and pour some into the base. Let it stand for 20 minutes, then rinse thoroughly until the bleach smell is gone.
  7. Dry: Allow all parts to air dry completely before reassembling. It is beneficial to let the unit dry out for 2-3 hours after use, especially if used continuously.
