Setup and Installation
Proper installation is crucial for the reliable operation of your HMI. Follow these steps carefully:
- Unpacking and Inspection: Carefully remove the HMI from its packaging. Inspect for any signs of damage during transit. Report any damage to your supplier immediately.
- Panel Cutout: Prepare the control panel with the correct cutout dimensions for your specific GL series model. Refer to the 'Panel Cutout Dimensions' diagram in the Specifications section for precise measurements.
- Mounting: Insert the HMI into the prepared cutout. Secure it using the provided mounting clips or screws, ensuring a snug fit to prevent dust and moisture ingress.
- Wiring: Connect the power supply (DC10V ~ DC28V) to the HMI's power input terminals. Ensure correct polarity. Connect communication cables (RS232, RS485, RS422, Ethernet if applicable) to the appropriate ports.
- Initial Power-Up: After all connections are secure, apply power to the HMI. The device should power on and display the boot screen.

Operating Instructions
The Kinco GL Series HMIs are designed for user-friendly operation. Once powered on, the HMI will load the configured application. Interaction is primarily via the resistive touchscreen.
- Touchscreen Interaction: Use your finger or a stylus to interact with on-screen buttons, input fields, and displays. The resistive touch panel responds to pressure.
- Program Download: Applications can be downloaded to the HMI via USB Slave (Micro USB), U disk, or network port (for 'E' models). Use Kinco DTools software for program conversion and download.
- USB Host Functionality: The USB Host port can be used for connecting external devices such as a USB flash drive for data logging or program updates, or a USB printer.
- Communication: The HMI supports various communication protocols via RS232, RS485, and RS422 ports, allowing it to interface with PLCs, controllers, and other industrial equipment.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your HMI.
- Cleaning: Use a soft, lint-free cloth dampened with a mild, non-abrasive cleaner to wipe the screen and casing. Avoid harsh chemicals or excessive moisture.
- Firmware Updates: Periodically check the Kinco website for firmware updates. Keeping your HMI's firmware up-to-date can improve performance and add new features.
- Environmental Conditions: Ensure the HMI operates within its specified environmental conditions (temperature, humidity) to prevent damage.
- Cable Connections: Regularly inspect all cable connections for tightness and signs of wear. Loose connections can lead to intermittent operation or communication errors.
Troubleshooting
Here are some common issues and their potential solutions:
- HMI does not power on:
- Check the power supply voltage (DC10V ~ DC28V).
- Ensure power cables are securely connected and not damaged.
- Verify the power source is active.
- Touchscreen unresponsive:
- Recalibrate the touchscreen if the option is available in the system settings.
- Ensure the screen is clean and free from debris.
- Restart the HMI.
- Communication errors:
- Verify communication cable connections (RS232, RS485, RS422, Ethernet).
- Check communication settings in the HMI application and the connected device (e.g., baud rate, parity, data bits).
- Ensure the correct communication protocol is selected.
- Display issues (e.g., flickering, no image):
- Check power supply stability.
- Restart the HMI.
- If the issue persists, contact technical support.
