SmartBox Plus System

Installation:

The installation process for the SmartBox+ system can be completed in the following steps:

  1. Bracket
  2. Cradle and Base Unit
  3. Meter
  4. Furrow Tube
  5. ECU
  6. Harnessing – power
  7. Harnessing – communication
  8. Display harnessing and cab installation (if required)
  1. Bracket
    • The brackets bolt directly onto the row unit, using supplied hardware.
    • On planters with Central Fill, the ladder brackets will bolt onto the central fill ladder or platform.SIMPAS SmartBox Plus System - Bracket
  2. Cradle, Base Unit and Quick-Attach latch
    • The cradle bolts to the bracket and supplies the mount for the Base Unit.
    • Before installing the base unit, the meter quick-attach assembly will be installed onto the bottom side of the base unit.SIMPAS SmartBox Plus System - Cradle
  3. Meter
    • The Meter attaches to the bottom of the base unit. The ISO VT (virtual terminal) display is used to control the system.

  4. Furrow tube
    • The furrow tube runs from the bottom of the meter down to the furrow.
    • It is critical to ensure that the tube remains as vertical as possible, to ensure product flow.SIMPAS SmartBox Plus System - Furrow tube
  5. ECU (Electronic Control Unit)
    • The ECU will mount directly onto the planter tool bar, at about row 5-8 depending upon the size of the planter.SIMPAS SmartBox Plus System - Electronic Control
  6. POWER Harnessing
    • The power harness begins at the tractor battery, runs out onto the planter tool bar and terminates at 1-2 locations on the tool bar using a tee harness as a splitter.
    • It is recommended that the power harness is installed onto the power disconnect on the tractor, to ensure the system is fully powered down whenthe disconnect is off.SIMPAS SmartBox Plus System - POWER Harnessing
  7. COMMUNICATION Harnessing
    • The communication harness starts at the ECU and runs to row 1 initially.
    • Starting at row 1, the communication harness forms a daisy chain along the rest of the planter.SIMPAS SmartBox Plus System - COMMUNICATION
  8. Display – harnessing and cab installation
    • When a PLANTER display is being used, display harness installation is NOT REQUIRED (other than simply connecting to the ISO connector).
    • When an aftermarket display is being used, the display harness must be installed, following manufacturers guidance
