Nespresso VertuoLine is an exclusive system creating the perfect Coffee and Espresso, time after time. Nespresso VertuoLine machines are equipped with the unique Centrifusion™ technology to gently extract Coffee or Espresso at the touch of a button. Each extracting parameter has been carefully defined by Nespresso coffee experts to ensure that all aromas from each Grand Cru can be extracted to give the coffee body and create an exceptionally thick and smooth crema.These instructions are part of the appliance. Read all instructions and all safety instructions before operating the appliance.

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following:’
- Read all instructions.
- Do not use outdoors.
- Do not let cord hang over the edge of the table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
- Keep the cord away from heat and moisture.
- The safety precautions are part of the appliance. Read the safety precautions provided with the appliance carefully prior to first use. Keep them in a place where you can find and refer to them in the future.
- The appliance is intended to prepare beverages according to these instructions.
- This appliance should only be used for the intended purpose.
- This appliance is only meant for indoor use, under non-extreme temperature conditions.
- Protect the appliance from direct sunlight, prolonged water splashing and humidity.

- In case of an emergency: immediately remove the plug from the power outlet.
- Only plug the appliance into suitable, easily accessible, grounded outlets. Make sure that the voltage of the power source is the same as that specified on the rating plate. The use of an incorrect voltage or frequency of electricity voids the warranty.
- The appliance must only be connected after installation.
- Do not pull the cord over sharp edges, clamp it or allow it to hang down.
- If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons.
- If the cord is damaged, do not operate the appliance. Only return the appliance to the Nespresso Club or to a Nespresso authorized representative.
- If an extension lead is required, use only a grounded power cord with a conductor cross-section with matching input power or at least 16 AWG (1.5 mm2).
- To disconnect, turn the machine “OFF”, then remove the plug from the outlet.
- To avoid hazardous damage, never place the appliance on or beside hot surfaces such as radiators, stoves, ovens, gas burners, open flames, or similar.
- Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
- Always place the appliance on a horizontal, stable, hard, even surface that does not allow for water accumulation under the machine.
- The surface must be resistant to heat and fluids, like water, coffee, descaling solution or similar.
- Disconnect the appliance from the power outlet when not in use for a long period of time.
- Disconnect by pulling out the plug; do not pull on the cord itself to avoid damage.
- Disconnect from the outlet before cleaning. Allow cooling before adding or removing parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
- Never touch the cord with wet hands.
- Never immerse the cord, plug, appliance or any part of it in water or any other liquid.
- Never put the appliance or part of it in a dishwasher.
- Electricity and water together are dangerous and can lead to fatal electric shocks.
- Do not open the appliance. Hazardous voltage inside!
- Do not dismantle the appliance.
- Do not put anything else than specified capsules into any openings, doing so may cause fire or electric shock!
- Never leave the appliance unattended during operation.
- Caution should be exercised when plugging in the coffee machine with the button pressed as the machine evacuates remaining liquids using heat. Small quantities of steam may pour out of the machine.
- Do not use the appliance if it is damaged or not operating perfectly.
- Immediately remove the plug from the power outlet.
- Contact the Nespresso Club or a Nespresso-authorized representative for examination, repair or adjustment.
- A damaged appliance can cause electric shocks, burns and fire.
- Risk of scalding by hot liquids. If the machine is forced to open hot liquids and coffee grounds may splash. Always lock the system completely and never open it during operation.
- Do not put your fingers under the coffee outlet; risk of scalding.
- Do not put fingers into the capsule compartment or capsule shaft; risk of injury!
- Water could flow around a capsule when not perforated by the blades and damage the appliance.
- Be careful not to injure yourself on sharp points or trap your fingers when reaching inside the machine.
- Beware of hot liquids when reaching inside the machine.
- Never use a damaged or deformed capsule.

- This appliance is designed for Nespresso VertuoLine coffee capsules available exclusively through the Nespresso Club or your Nespresso authorized representative.
- Nespresso quality is only guaranteed when Nespresso capsules are used in Nespresso machines.
- For your own safety, you should use only parts and appliance accessories from Nespresso that are designed for your appliance.
- All Nespresso appliances pass stringent controls.
- Reliability tests under practical conditions are randomly performed on selected units. Some units can therefore show traces of previous use.

- The appliance is provided with an attached cord having an approximate length of 4 1/2 feet (1.4 meters).
- Use the power cord supplied with the device in an unmodified form. It is important for user safety that the appliance is only used with a suitably grounded electrical supply.
- A short power supply cord is provided to reduce risks resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
- Extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use.
- If an extension cord is used:
- The marked electrical rating of the extension should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance,
- If the appliance is grounded, the extension cord should be a grounding-type 3-wire cord, and
- The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not dangle over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.
- The appliance has a grounded plug (one blade is wider than the other).
- To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a grounded outlet only one way.
- If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug.
- If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician.
- Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.
- Do not pour water or other liquids into the brewing unit.
- The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may result in fire, electric shock or injury.
- Keep appliances, capsules, and accessories out of reach of children.
- Descaling Nespresso descaling agent, when used correctly, helps to ensure the proper functioning of your machine over its lifetime and that your coffee experience is as perfect as on the first day. OVERVIEW
PACKAGING CONTENT
FIRST USE OR AFTER A LONG PERIOD OF NON-uSe
- Rinse the water tank before filling it only with fresh potable water. put the water tank in place
- and ensure the drip tray and the capsule container are in place. for your safety, operate the machine only with the drip tray and capsule container in position.
- plug the machine into the outlet.
- turn the machine “on” by pushing the button. the button will gradually illuminate as the machine heats up in approximately 15 seconds.
- Place a container of at least 12.5 oz./0.4 l under the coffee outlet.
- Steady lights indicate the machine is ready.
- Close the head and lock the machine by turning the lever left to the lock symbol on the machine head.
- Press the button 3 times within 2 seconds to start cleaning and let the cleaning procedure complete automatically. It will take less than 2 minutes before a flow comes out. The procedure consists of 3 cycles of pumping water in/internal cleaning/water flowing from the outlet to complete.
- This operation may take up to 5 minutes. The procedure can be stopped at any time by pushing the button. The button will go to a steady light. In case you want to resume the cleaning process, push the button again. To brew a coffee, put a capsule, then close, and lock the machine by turning the lever left and pushing the button.
Coffee Preparation
- Fill the water tank with fresh potable water.
- Steady lights indicate the machine is ready.
- Place a cup of sufficient capacity under the coffee outlet. Risk of scalding may occur due to overflowing.
- Turn the machine “ON ” by pushing the button.
- The factory settings and recommended cup sizes are: 7.77 oz./230 ml for Coffee 1.35 oz./40 ml for Espresso
- Unlock and open the machine head completely.
- Lights will blink for approximately 15 seconds while the machine is heating up.
- The cup support has 3 positions that can accommodate various cup sizes
- This machine operates with Nespresso VertuoLine capsules only. Nespresso OriginalLine capsules cannot be used in this machine
- Insert a VertuoLine capsule with a dome shape at the bottom. Be careful not to injure yourself on sharp points or trap your fingers when reaching inside the machine.
- Close the head and lock the machine by turning the lever left to the lock symbol on the machine head.
- Push the button to start the coffee preparation. It will take some time before the coffee flow comes out (due to barcode reading and coffee pre-wetting).
- To stop the coffee flow early, push the button.
- To manually top off your coffee, push the button and push again to stop when the desired volume is reached.
- Turn the lever to the right and open the head to automatically eject the capsule.
ENERGY SAVING CONCEPT
the machine can be turned “off” at any time by holding the button for 3 seconds. automatic “off” mode: the machine will turn off automatically after 9 minutes of non-use.
PROGRAMMING THE WATER VOLUME
- the programming is specific to each capsule size, Coffee or espresso. Cup sizes can be reprogrammed from 0.3 oz./10 ml to 17 oz./500 ml.
- open the machine head; Insert the capsule blend you want to program; Close the head; Lock the machine
- now, push and hold the button until the desired volume is reached.
- The water volume level is now stored for the capsule size used for the programming.
RESET TO FACTORY SETTINGS
- open the machine head and let the used capsule be ejected.
- Close the head.
- push the button 5 times within 3 seconds. the button will blink slowly 5 times to confirm reset is done.
EMPTYING THE SYSTEM
- empty the water tank and put it in place.
- open the machine head and let the used capsule be ejected
- place a container under the coffee outlet and lock the machine.
- Reclose the head and turn the lever left until the “LoCKed” position.
- unplug the power cord.
- push and hold the button while replugging the power cord and then release the button.
- the machine turns “off” automatically when the machine is empty

CLEANING
the machine has a predefined cleaning procedure that can be launched at user discretion.

- place a container of at least 13.5 oz./0.4 l under the coffee outlet.
- open the machine head and let the used capsule be ejected.
- push the button 3 times within 2 seconds. the button will blink quickly during the procedure. It will take less than 2 minutes before a flow comes out. the cleaning procedure will run automatically for 5 minutes. the procedure consists of 3 cycles of pumping water in/internal cleaning/water flowing from the outlet to complete.
- the procedure can be stopped at any time by pushing the button. the button will go to a steady light. In case you want to resume the cleaning process, push the button again. to brew a coffee, put a capsule, then close, and lock the machine by turning the lever left and pushing the button.
Descaling
this machine is equipped with a descaling alert: the light will blink alternately 3 times, then become steady. the machine can only be operated to make coffee a few more times once the alert appears before descaling becomes mandatory.
- empty the drip tray and the used capsule container
- fill the water tank with 1 unit of Nespresso descaling liquid (Ref. 3035/CBS-2) and add 17 oz./0.5 l of water.
- turn the machine “on” by pushing the button.
- Blinking light: heating up. Steady light: ready.
- open the machine head and let the used capsule be ejected.
- Reclose the machine and leave the lever in the “unLoCKed” position: towards the front of the machine
- enter the descaling mode, and hold the button for at least 7 seconds.
- the button will start blinking rapidly. now you have 45 seconds to enter descaling mode by following the next step, otherwise, the machine will return to the ready-for-brewing coffee mode.
- Lock the machine by turning the lever left to the lock symbol on the machine head and unlock by turning right. Hold again the button for at least 7 seconds in the “unLoCKed” position.
- place a container (minimum volume: 20 oz./0.6 l) under the coffee outlet.
- empty and rinse the water tank, drip tray, and cup support thoroughly.
- 15 to exit the descaling mode, hold the button for at least 7 seconds.
- to start descaling, lock the machine by turning left the lever and pushing the button. the machine will stop automatically when complete
