Quick Setup
Note 1: Ensure the speaker wire is not attached to the chassis before connecting the power supply.
Note 2: Due to limited space, ensure positive and negative poles do not touch.
- Prepare the TP-02, 24V power supply, passive subwoofer or active subwoofer, and speaker wires or banana plugs.
- Connect the TP-02 to the passive subwoofer using bare wire or banana plugs.
- Connect the 24V power supply to the DC Input.
- Toggle the power switch on the front panel upwards to turn on the TP-02 amplifier.
How to connect the speaker wire:
Method 1: Bare wire connection illustration
- Release the speaker terminals.
- Insert the speaker wire ends into the amplifier and speaker terminal holes.
- Tighten the speaker terminals.
Method 2: Banana plugs connection illustration
- Release the banana jacket.
- Loosen the screw.
- Insert the speaker wire and tighten the screw.
- Tighten the banana jacket.
- Insert the banana plug into the speaker terminals of the speaker and amplifier.
Note: Be careful to avoid contact between the two banana plugs to prevent short circuits, as some banana plugs have metal casings.
Important Notes:
- Before connecting the power supply, ensure the TP-02's power switch is in the "down" position to avoid a "POP" sound from the subwoofer.
- Before connecting the power supply, turn the volume control to 0 (counterclockwise) to protect your hearing.
Troubleshooting/QA
- Power supply indicator is not illuminated: Check AC power cord connections. Verify the power supply's LED. Contact Fosi Audio for a replacement if the power supply is faulty.
- Which type of speakers works best with the TP-02: Fosi Audio TP-02 works well with most 2-8Ω subwoofers.
- TP-02 makes serious noise with a radio: Class D amplifiers can cause noise with radios. Avoid using the TP-02 near a radio.
- No voice from the amplifier: Ensure AC outlet is on, amplifier and devices are powered on. Recheck speaker wire connections. Verify power supply connection and LED. Ensure the volume knob is not set to minimum. Check if your audio source devices are turned on and volume is adequate. Test with different audio sources and cables.
- Sound crackles or makes electric noise: Buzzing when touching the volume knob or amplifier case is normal due to aluminum construction. Ensure all cables are fully inserted. Unplug signal input cables to check if the crackle persists. Use the original factory standard power supply.
- Interference sound after connecting signal line: Use shielded signal lines or unplug signal lines if unshielded lines cause interference.
- Amplifier stops working and then works again: The amplifier has overheat protection. Lower the volume to prevent exceeding the designed output range.
- Standby power consumption and continuous use: This is a Class D amplifier. It consumes some power in standby mode. Stable rated output is approximately 150-180 watts.
- Different output volumes with same amplifier volume setting: The output voltage of audio sources varies (e.g., mobile phone 0.35mV, CD 1V). Higher output voltage from the source directly influences volume.
- Sound quality not good initially, improves after 10 hours: Speakers and amplifiers require a break-in period. Sound quality typically improves after 10 hours of use.
- Poor sound quality: Lower the volume of the input device and increase the amplifier volume. Ensure your subwoofer is passive, not active. Disconnect RCA input and connect directly to a subwoofer. Check for noise or hum. If present, the issue may be with the amplifier or subwoofer. If not, check RCA cables or source device. Ensure all cable connections are secure. Verify the TP-02 has sufficient power for your subwoofer; consider a more powerful power supply (e.g., 24V 8A or 24V 10A) if needed.
- Power input (24V, 4.5A, 108W) vs. unit power (220W): 220 watts is the peak output. The power supply provides a maximum of 108 watts continuously. Capacitors offer a brief peak boost. For sustained 220W output, use a 24V 8A or 24V 10A power adapter.
- True RMS wattage specifications: 220 watts is MAX power output. RMS power output is RMS 150watts @ 4Ω and RMS 120watts @ 8Ω with a 24V 4.5A power supply. For more power, upgrade to a 24V 8A power supply.
- Sound cuts in or out: Reduce the volume of your source device. Ensure speaker output positive and negative poles do not touch to prevent short circuits. Test with a different audio source. If the issue persists, the amplifier may be faulty.
- Low Volume: Check the volume on your source device and the amplifier. Ensure the amplifier is not set to minimum volume. Verify if your device requires a pre-amp, especially for turntables.
- Can I use the TP-02 in other countries: Yes, the AC 110-240V wide voltage input is compatible globally. Ensure you use the correct power cord adapter for your country.
