Tools Required
The following tools are recommended for installation:
- Pencil
- Tape Measure
- Power Drill
- Step Ladder
- Level
- 5/64" Drill Bit
- Phillips Bit
- 1/4" Nut Driver Bit
Mounting the Brackets
Inside Mount
- Measure inward 2"-4" from each side of the window top corners and mark with a pencil. If additional brackets are needed, make evenly spaced marks between the outer marks.
- Measure back at least 2" from the marks to determine bracket depth. For a flush mount, measure back 3 1/2" (exposed roll) or 3 7/8" (cassette). Mark this depth. Repeat for all brackets.
- Hold each bracket against the ceiling or window frame, aligning the release lip with your mark. Mark the screw hole locations.
- Pre-drill screw holes using a 5/64" drill bit. Erase any pencil marks.
- Align the first bracket with the drilled holes and secure with two screws. Repeat for remaining brackets.
Outside Mount
- Measure inward 2"-4" from each side of the window top corners and mark with a pencil. If additional brackets are needed, make evenly spaced marks between the outer marks.
- Measure upward from the marks to determine bracket height. A minimum of 1 1/4" is required, or at least 1 1/2" to clear the window top. Mark this height. Repeat for all brackets.
- Position a bracket against the mounting surface, aligning the top with your upper mark. Mark the screw holes. Repeat for all brackets.
- Pre-drill screw holes using a 5/64" drill bit. Erase any pencil marks.
- Align the first bracket with the drilled holes and secure with two screws. Repeat for remaining brackets.
Mounting Cassette Headrail Brackets
The roller shade is pre-installed in the cassette headrail. The headrail snaps onto the provided hardware.
Inside Mount Cassette Bracket: Features a front lip and screw holes.
Outside Mount Cassette Bracket: Features a release lip, front hook, and screw holes.
Attaching the Shade
General Note
Ensure brackets are straight and aligned. Elongated screw holes allow for minor adjustments.
Inside Mount Adjustment
Use a tape measure to ensure brackets are at the same depth. Loosen screws to adjust, then retighten.
Outside Mount Adjustment
Use a tape measure to ensure brackets are at the same height. Use a level on top of each bracket for alignment. Loosen screws to adjust, then retighten.
Exposed Roll Shade Attachment
- Insert the pin end of the shade into the cross hole of the bracket.
- Insert the hooks on the motor head/clutch end into the slots in the bracket. Pull down gently until the hooks lock securely. The bottom should point straight down.
Cassette Headrail Attachment
- Set the front edge of the headrail onto the front hook of each bracket. Slide the shade left or right for centering.
- Push the headrail upward until the back lip of each bracket snaps onto the back edge of the cassette. Remove any protective wrapping.
Installing Chain Tension Device
The chain tension device ensures smooth operation and child safety.
Note: Remove any protective plastic from the chain before proceeding. Slide the tension device to the bottom of the bead chain loop.
- Insert a small tool (screwdriver, punch, awl) through the screw at the bottom of the tension device.
- Press the release buttons on the sides of the tension device while pulling down on the spring-loaded screw hole to release the safety mechanism.
- Slide the tension device to the bottom of the bead chain loop and position it as desired.
- Mark the window casement at the notch in the tension device.
- Align the center of the screw hole with the notch (±1/8"). The tension device can be mounted in three ways: Inside Mount with bracket, Inside Mount without bracket, or Outside Mount.
Inside Mount with Bracket
- Align the bracket's center hole with the mark and mark both hole locations.
- Drill 1/8" pilot holes. If anchors are needed, tap them into the 7/32" pre-drilled holes. Use a Phillips screwdriver and longer screws to attach the bracket.
- Press the tension device release buttons while pulling down on the spring-loaded screw hole. Insert the bracket's nub into the back of the tension device's screw hole.
- Insert the small provided screw through the front of the screw hole and tighten.
Inside Mount Without Bracket
Note: Use the provided mounting bracket for textured or uneven surfaces.
- Position the tension device with its spring-loaded screw hole aligned with the mark.
- If anchors are needed, tap them into the 7/32" pre-drilled hole.
- Insert longer screws into the spring-loaded screw hole and attach the screw.
Outside Mount
- Align the bracket's center hole with the mark and mark both screw hole locations.
- Insert the small provided screw through the front of the screw hole and tighten to secure the tension device to the bracket.
Cautions:
- The window covering will not operate properly unless the tension device is secured.
- Locate the tensioner close to the window glass to minimize accessibility by children and pets.
- Ensure the tension device is not in the path of the bottom rail or fabric to prevent chain tightness and wear.
Warning:
A damaged, loose, or missing tension device poses a strangulation risk to children. Remove from use and repair or replace if damaged, loose, or missing.

Troubleshooting
Common Issues and Solutions
- Backlit buttons not illuminating: Check battery replacement or proper insertion.
- No response when adding a blind: Ensure the blind has power, the integrated battery is charged, and the correct group channel is selected.
- Shades not responding to remote: Check remote battery, ensure blinds are added to the remote, check blind battery level via the app, or replace the remote battery.
- Adding blinds without the app: Choose a group number, remove the battery cover to access 'C', press the blind's manual push button until it jogs twice, then press 'C' on the remote within 15 seconds.
- Copying information between remotes: Not possible.
- Need for a remote control: Recommended for maximum flexibility; one per room is advised.
- Assigning multiple remotes to one blind: Up to 10 remotes can be assigned. Repeat the pairing steps for each remote.
- Number of blinds per remote: 5-channel remote: 5 groups, 16 blinds per group. 14-channel remote: 14 groups, 16 blinds per group.
- Remote battery type: Single 3V CR2450 coin/button cell battery.
- Remote operation out-of-the-box: No, the remote needs to be assigned to the shade directly or via the SmartView app.
