8BitDo Mod Kit for NGC Controller

Assembly and Installation
Follow these steps to install the Mod Kit for your NGC Controller:
Step 1: Disassemble the controller shell. Diagram 1 shows screws being removed from the back of the controller.
Step 2: Access internal components. Diagram 2 shows the opened controller shell revealing the original PCB and other parts.
Step 3: Install the 8BitDo PCB. Diagram 3 illustrates placing the new PCB into the controller shell, indicating removal of a section of the original PCB.
Step 4: Components overview. Diagram 6 displays the mod kit components: the main 8BitDo PCB, various screws (labeled 0.1 to 0.5), and heat shrink tubes. An instruction indicates to use heat to shrink the tubes.
Step 5: Internal layout. Diagrams 4, 5, 8, and 9 show the controller's internal layout and button configurations, labeling buttons such as START, SELECT, Joysticks (L3, R3), L1/L2, R1/R2, A, B, C, X, Y, START/+, ZL, and ZR.
Step 6: Battery compartment. Diagram 7 shows the back of the controller, likely related to the battery compartment.
Controller Operation
Power
- To turn on the controller: Press the Start button. ▶️
- To turn off the controller: Hold the Start button for 3 seconds. ⏹️
- To force the controller off: Hold the Start button for 8 seconds.
Connectivity
Switch
System Requirements: Nintendo Switch system version 3.0.0 or above.
Bluetooth Connection
- Ensure the controller is OFF. Press and hold Y + Start for 3 seconds to turn on the controller and enter pairing mode. The Status LED will blink rapidly. (This is required for the first-time connection only.)
- On your Switch console, navigate to "Controllers" > "Change Grip/Order" and wait for the connection.
- The Status LED will remain solid to indicate a successful connection.
Hot Keys
- START + Down: Functions as the Home button.
- START + Up: Functions as the Back button.
Android
System Requirements: Android device system version 9.0 or above.
Bluetooth Connection
- Ensure the controller is OFF. Press and hold B + Start for 3 seconds to turn on the controller and enter pairing mode. The Status LED will blink rapidly. (This is required for the first-time connection only.)
- Turn on the Bluetooth on your Android device and search for "8BitDo NGC Modkit" to pair.
- The Status LED will remain solid to indicate a successful connection.
Battery Information
- The controller is equipped with a 300mAh built-in rechargeable battery pack.
- Playtime: Approximately 6 hours of playtime.
- Charging Time: Approximately 2 hours.
LED Indicator Status
- Low battery mode: Red LED blinks. ? (blinking)
- Battery charging: Red LED stays solid. ? (solid)
- Battery fully charged: Red LED turns off. ⚫
The controller will automatically shut down if it fails to connect within 1 minute of startup, or if there are no operations within 15 minutes after establishing a connection.
