SelectBlinds Installation Guide
Cordless and Motorized Roller Shades with Cassette and Exposed Roll
Fitting the Brackets
For Cordless Roller Shades (Cassette & Exposed Roll)
The brackets offer two methods of installation:
1. Top-Fixing
Where the brackets are screwed into the lintel (or 'ceiling' of the recess).
[Diagram: Shows a bracket being mounted from above into a horizontal surface, with screws.]
2. Face-Fixing
Where the brackets are screwed onto a facing surface (a wall or window frame).
[Diagram: Shows a bracket being mounted from the front onto a vertical surface, with screws.]
For Motorized Roller Shades with Cassette
The brackets offer two methods of installation:
1. Top-Fixing
Use the front two holes in the top of the bracket to fix to the lintel (the 'ceiling' of the recess).
[Diagram: Similar to cordless top-fixing, highlighting specific screw holes on the bracket for lintel mounting.]
2. Face-Fixing
Use two screws through the back plate to mount onto a facing surface (a wall or window frame).

For Motorized Roller Shades with Exposed Roll
The brackets offer three methods of installation:
1. Top-Fixing
Where the brackets are screwed into the lintel (or 'ceiling' of the recess).
[Diagram: Shows bracket mounting into a horizontal surface from above.]
2. Face-Fixing
Where the brackets are screwed onto a facing surface (a wall or window frame).

3. Side-Fixing
Where the brackets are screwed into the side walls of the recess.

Fitting the Blind
For Cordless Roller Shades (Cassette & Exposed Roll)
To Install: Holding the shade at an angle, hook the lip at the front of the headrail over the front hook of the bracket. Then, pushing back against the front of the headrail, raise the back of the headrail and push upwards until it snaps into place.
[Diagram: Sequence showing shade headrail being angled, hooked onto bracket, and pushed upwards to secure.]
To Remove: Push back against the front of the headrail and twist the back of the headrail downwards until it disengages from the brackets.
[Diagram: Sequence showing shade headrail being tilted downwards from the back to detach from the bracket.]
For Motorized Roller Shades with Cassette
To Install: Holding the rail at an angle, situate the T-shaped lip on the top of the cassette into the front lip of the bracket.
[Diagram: Close-up showing the T-shaped lip of the cassette engaging with the bracket's front lip.]
Twist the back of the cassette upwards until it snaps into place against the back lip of the bracket.
[Diagram: Shows the cassette being rotated upwards to lock into the rear of the bracket.]
For Motorized Roller Shades with Exposed Roll
Before you begin: If you decide to swap the side the controls are on, change the direction of the roll, or trim the blind, the controls can be removed by simply unplugging them from the tube. This should be done prior to fixing the brackets. [Diagram: Shows controls being unplugged from the roller tube.]
To Install (Depression End): Locate the depression end (the opposite end to the controls) of the blind and insert it into the cross-shaped hole in the corresponding bracket.
[Diagram: Shows the non-control end of the blind being fitted into a bracket's cross-shaped slot.]
To Install (Control End): Lift the control end of the blind and slot the rectangular 'lugs' into the corresponding slots on the bracket.
[Diagram: Shows the control end of the blind being fitted, with 'lugs' engaging into bracket slots.]
Operation and Spring Tension
For Cordless Roller Shades
The shade's spring mechanism is locked with a locking pin to prevent it unrolling during transit. Before you operate the shade for the first time, locate the locking pin and simply pull it out to remove it. [Emoji: ⚙️] [Diagram: Close-up of the mechanism showing a locking pin inserted.]
If you find that over time the spring mechanism is weakening (i.e., the shade does not easily retract when you raise it), then the tension can be increased.
- Take the shade down from the brackets.
- Locate the tension screw at one end of the mechanism.
- Using a screwdriver [Emoji: ?], turn the screw in the direction of the front of the shade. This will increase the tension in the spring and allow the shade to retract more easily.
Attach clear handle(s) to the bottom rail by carefully sliding them on. [Diagram: Shows handle being slid onto the bottom rail.]
