Dimensions

Diagrams illustrating front view, side views, and mounting/parts identification are provided, showing dimensions in inches (mm).

Ganging and Derating

Derating is required when combining controls in the same wallbox. Remote dimmers, remote switches, and fan speed controls do not require derating.

Load Type and Capacity

Detailed tables outline the load types (Incandescent, Halogen, MLV, ELV, LED, CFL, Fluorescent Ballast, Motor) and their corresponding minimum loads, maximum capacities (Not Ganged, End of Gang, Middle of Gang), and neutral connection requirements for various models. Specific notes detail dimmer load types, low-voltage applications, and compatibility with power boosters/load interfaces.

Example Derating Scenario: For RRD-6CL, mixing CFL/LED and Incandescent/Halogen loads requires specific derating. For instance, if one dimmer controls 48W of CFL/LED, it can also control up to 300W of incandescent/halogen when not ganged.

RRD-PRO Load Types: Supports LED, CFL, MLV, ELV, Incandescent/Halogen, Dimmable Fluorescent Ballast, Hi-lume 1% 2-wire (LTE) LED Driver, and Power Boosters/Load Interfaces (PHPM-PA/3F and GRX-TVI). Neutral connection is optional for some loads but recommended for optimal performance.

Switch Load Types (-8ANS, -8S-DV): Designed for lighting and motor loads. The -8S-DV may require a shunt capacitor for loads sensitive to leakage current, such as fluorescent ballasts, to prevent flickering.

Compatible Power Boosters and Load Interfaces

Certain local controls can be used with Lutron Power Modules (Phase Adaptive, 3-wire Fluorescent, Switched) and the GRX-TVI 0-10V Interface. The table lists compatible controls and modules, with specific notes on voltage requirements.

Operation

Illustrations show the operation of Dimmer, Switch, and Fan Speed Control units, highlighting the tapswitch, dimming/speed rocker, status LEDs, and the Front Accessible Service Switch (FASS).

Wiring Diagrams

Detailed wiring diagrams are provided for various configurations:

Notes clarify wiring connections, including the use of the blue terminal and the maximum total blue terminal wire length for multi-location setups.

Colors and Finishes

A visual guide displays available color options for Lutron controls and wallplates, including Ivory, Light Almond, Snow, Eggshell, Midnight, Palladium, Taupe, Hot, Biscuit, Merlot, Brown, Plum, Sienna, Terracotta, Blue/Grey, Greenbriar, Goldstone, Mocha Stone, Stone, Desert Stone, and Limestone. Metal finishes, such as Stainless Steel, are also shown.
