5-3 Tips for Use
Suggested Grinding | Espresso | Pour-Over, Filter Coffee, Cold Brew | French Press |
---|---|---|---|
Grind Size Setting | Fine (1-16) | Medium (16-32) | Coarse (32-48) |
The following tips for use can help you make better coffee ground:
- Fresh beans yield the best flavor and aroma.
- Only fill the bean container with the quantity of coffee beans that you intend to use in the near future.
- The amount of grinding needed is determined by the quantity of coffee and how it will be prepared. As you become more familiar with it, you will uncover the setting that caters to your taste, brewing technique, and individual coffee-making preferences.
How to use the Dosing Cup?
- Place the dosing cup under your grind outlet and grind coffee.
- Place portafilter upside down over the dosing cup then flip it over.
- Tap the portafilter on the bench to ensure the coffee grinds fall into the portafilter filter and don't mount in one area.
- The coffee grinds are now ready to be evenly distributed in the filter and tamped by a tamper.
* The dosing cup fits for 51 mm portafilter.
* The portafilter and tamper are not provided.
5-4 Tips for Coffee Beans
Choose your beans wisely. It is best to use premium whole beans from a trusted brand or roaster.
Arabica beans provide the best flavors and have less caffeine, while Robusta beans are easier to grow and less expensive, but have less flavor and higher caffeine content. Robusta beans are sometimes used in blends to add a particular bitterness to the brew.
Beans can be roasted very lightly to provide a smooth aromatic taste or roasted dark to provide stronger flavors, and anywhere in between. A good roaster will be able to describe the flavors that the beans will impart to your brewed coffee.
Note: Experiment with different beans and different roasts to identify one or several that suit your tastes.
- Air, light, and moisture are damaging to the delicate oils that give the coffee beans their great flavor.
- Buy your beans in small batches to always have the freshest possible beans available.
- Store the coffee in an opaque, airtight container and keep in a cool dry place.
