Front Panel Components
- 1. Play/Pause Button [play/pause]: Used for play operations in music applications.
- 2. BLUETOOTH Button [bluetooth]: Used for pairing and connecting with BLUETOOTH wireless technology enabled devices.
- 3. Microphone Mute Button [mic-mute]: Toggles microphone mute on/off. The LED indicators show the status. Holding this button for 10 seconds performs a factory reset. The Google Assistant will not respond when the microphone is muted.
- 4. Microphone: Used for voice commands to the Google Assistant.
- 5. Volume Buttons [volume-up]/[volume-down]: Adjusts the volume from 0 to 50. LED indicators display the current volume level for 3 seconds. The brightness of the white LEDs indicates the volume level; they become brighter when increasing volume and dimmer when reducing it.
- 6. LED Indicators: Show the unit's status through colors and illumination patterns.
Back Panel Components
- 7. Micro USB Port: For servicing only, not user-accessible.
- 8. AC IN Terminal [ac-in]: Connect the supplied power cord here.
LED Indicator Behavior Descriptions
- Thinking: While a voice command is processing, the four middle Google Assistant LEDs slowly blink from left to right, one at a time.
- Responding: As the Google Assistant responds, all four middle LEDs blink on and off.
- Microphone Mute On: LEDs light orange.
- Hotword Detected ("Ok Google" / "Hey Google"): Four middle LEDs light up in left-to-right order to confirm hotword detection and await your voice command.
- Listening: After hotword detection and the Assistant is awaiting the user query, all four middle Google Assistant LEDs slowly pulse.
- Pairing Started: LED indicators flash in a specific pattern.
- Pairing Finished: All six LEDs blink on and off.
- Pairing Failed: All six LEDs do not blink on and off.
- Volume Level: White LEDs light up to indicate volume level (0 to 50).
Connect & Initial Setup
Power Cord Hookup
Connect the supplied power cord to the AC IN terminal on the unit and then to a power outlet. Always disconnect from the outlet side first when unplugging.
Download the Google Home App
Use the Google Home app to set up and operate the unit. Download it from Google Play or the App Store. The app is compatible with Android™ (version 4.2 or later) and iOS (version 8.0 or later, supporting iPhone®, iPad®, and iPod touch®).
Wi-Fi Network Connection
Your smartphone or tablet must be connected to the same network as this unit for setup and operation. Ensure network connectivity beforehand.
Initial Setup
Perform the following steps when the unit is powered on:
- Start the Google Home app.
- Tap "ACCEPT" for the terms of service and privacy policy to initiate the network connection between the unit and your smartphone. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the initial settings.
- After initial setup, you can select a tutorial to practice using your Google Assistant.
Note: Your device may download and apply an Over-the-Air (OTA) software update during installation. This is normal and ensures you have the latest features.
Initialize (Factory Reset)
To return the unit's settings to their original factory state, press and hold the microphone mute button for 10 seconds. The LED indicators will flash when initialization starts. This process takes about 20 seconds. The LEDs will turn off when initialization is complete.
Meet Your Google Assistant
You can activate the Google Assistant by saying "Ok Google" or "Hey Google" to the unit. The LED indicators will show the Assistant's status.

BLUETOOTH® Playback
Pairing
Pairing is required for the first-time connection with BLUETOOTH devices:
- Press and hold the BLUETOOTH button on the unit for 3 seconds. The LED indicators will flash to show pairing has started.
- On your BLUETOOTH device, enable the BLUETOOTH function and select "VC-GX30****" from the list of available devices.
- All six LEDs will blink on and off upon successful pairing. If they do not blink, pairing failed; retry from step 1.
Repeat these steps to connect additional BLUETOOTH devices. The effective range is approximately 10 meters (33 feet), but actual connection quality may vary.
Playing Back
Once paired or connected:
- Initiate playback on the BLUETOOTH wireless technology enabled device. You can also press the BLUETOOTH button on the unit to reconnect the last paired device.
- Play music files and adjust the volume on the BLUETOOTH device to an appropriate level.
Note: Due to BLUETOOTH technology characteristics, audio playback on the unit may have a slight delay compared to the source device.
