Standard Connections (Pages 8 to 11):

Refer to the illustration to connect the speaker system. Depending on speaker combinations, other jacks may be needed; see "Points to note with speaker combinations" (P13).

Setup:

Configure speaker settings in "1. AccuEQ Room Calibration" during Initial Setup (P24).

Connecting with Bi-Amping Speakers (Page 12)

Connect front speakers supporting Bi-Amping to the FRONT and HEIGHT 1 jacks. Remove the jumper bar between woofer and tweeter jacks on front speakers. Refer to "Standard Connections" (P14) for other speakers and your speaker's manual for Bi-Amping connections.

Setup:

Configure speaker settings in "1. AccuEQ Room Calibration" during Initial Setup (P24).

Important Note: Ensure exposed speaker cables do not stick out of terminals. If wires touch the panel or each other, the protection circuit will activate.

Initial Setup

Step 3: Connect the TV & AV Components

1. Connect the TV

To ARC TV: Use an HDMI cable for TVs supporting ARC (Audio Return Channel). Connect to an HDMI IN jack on the TV that supports ARC. Settings for ARC function require selecting "Yes" in "5. Audio Return Channel" (P25) during Initial Setup. Consult your TV's manual for TV connection and CEC/audio output settings.

To Non-ARC TV: Connect both an HDMI cable and an analog audio cable. Analog audio cable connection is not necessary if watching TV via a set-top box not using the TV's tuner.

Note (*1): ARC transfers TV audio via HDMI for playback through this unit. Connection requires one HDMI cable. Check TV manual for ARC support.

Note (*2): Another TV or projector can connect to the HDMI OUT SUB jack. Use the Q button (P6) and "Other" - "HDMI Out" to switch between MAIN and SUB. This jack does not support ARC.

2. Connect the HDMI AV Component

Connect AV components with HDMI jacks. For CEC-compliant components, features like input switching and HDMI Standby Through are enabled. Use high-speed HDMI cables for 4K/1080p video and connect to HDMI IN1-IN5 for HDCP2.2 compatible video.

Setup:

Selecting "Yes" for "5. Audio Return Channel" during Initial Setup enables HDMI CEC and HDMI Standby Through. If "No, Skip" is selected, configure in the Setup menu under "5. Hardware" - "HDMI". For digital surround sound (Dolby Digital), set audio output to Bitstream.

Note: The HDMI CEC feature allows control of input switching, audio output switching (TV or unit), volume adjustment via TV remote, and automatic unit standby when the TV turns off.

3. Connect the Non-HDMI AV Component

Connect AV components without HDMI jacks by matching video and audio input jacks (e.g., BD/DVD video to BD/DVD jack, audio to BD/DVD jack). Video signals to VIDEO IN or COMPONENT VIDEO IN jacks are converted to HDMI video signals for HDMI OUT. For Dolby Digital playback, use a digital coaxial or optical cable for audio.

Setup:

COMPONENT VIDEO IN jacks support 480i or 576i resolution. Set player output to 480i/576i or interlace. If not supported, use VIDEO IN jack. For digital surround sound, set audio output to Bitstream.

4. Connect the Audio Component

Connect audio components like CD players using digital optical or analog audio cables. Turntables with MM cartridges connect to the PHONO jack. If the turntable has a built-in equalizer, connect to any AUDIO IN jack other than PHONO. For MC cartridges, use a compatible equalizer between the unit and turntable, then connect to any AUDIO IN jack other than PHONO.

Note: Connect the turntable's ground wire to the GND terminal.

5. Multi-zone Connection-1 (ZONE 2 TV)

Enjoy content from a Blu-ray Disc player or other AV component in a separate room (ZONE 2) via HDMI. Only video from HDMI IN1-IN5 jacks can be played on the ZONE 2 TV.

Setup:

Configure in "4. Multi Zone Setup" (P25) during Initial Setup. Audio from external AV components is output only if it's 2ch PCM audio; conversion to PCM may be necessary.

6. Multi-zone Connection-2 (ZONE 2 PRE/ LINE OUT / ZONE 2 SPEAKER)

Enjoy audio in a separate room (ZONE 2) while playing sources in the main room. Connect ZONE 2 PRE/LINE OUT jacks to a separate room's pre-main amplifier LINE IN jacks with an analog audio cable. Connect speakers in the separate room for 2ch sources.

Notes:

7. Multi-zone Connection-3 (ZONE 3 PRE/ LINE OUT / ZONE 3 SPEAKER)

Enjoy audio in a third room (ZONE 3). Output to ZONE 3 requires an analog audio cable; HDMI or digital connections are not supported. Connect ZONE 3 PRE/LINE OUT jacks to a separate room's pre-main amplifier LINE IN jacks with an analog audio cable. Speakers can be connected for 2ch sources.

Notes:

8. Connect Other Cables

Antenna Hookup: Position FM antenna for best reception; use a thumbtack to attach it. AM antenna placement is also important.

Network Hookup: Connect to the network via wired LAN (Ethernet cable to ETHERNET port) or Wi-Fi. Network features include internet radio and streaming. Follow onscreen instructions for Wi-Fi setup via "3. Network Connection" (P25).

Power Cord Hookup: Connect the removable power cord to the unit's AC INLET after all other connections are made. Disconnect the outlet side first when unplugging.
