Interface Overview
The thermostat features a clear interface for managing your home comfort:
- System Status: View current system status at a glance.

- Dashboard: Customize items displayed in this section.
- Setpoint Control: Manually adjust setpoints or use Home, Away, and Sleep presets.
1 Buttons and Navigation
Pressing buttons displays additional information or new menu screens. For example, access the Menu screen via the [Menu button] on the home screen, and the Settings Menu via the [Settings button] from the Menu screen. Button sequences are shown using icons, e.g., Menu > Settings.
2 System ON/OFF, Mode Selection
Dedicated buttons control System Mode, Fan Mode, and Air Cleaner Mode. The selected mode is displayed on the home screen.
System Mode
- Auto: Automatically switches between heating and cooling.
- Heating: Dedicated heating mode.
- Cooling: Dedicated cooling mode.
- Off: Turns the system completely off.
Fan Mode
- Auto: Fan runs only when the system runs.
- On: Fan runs continuously.
- Circulate: Fan runs at least 1055 minutes per hour to reduce temperature variations.
Air Cleaner Mode
- Automatic: Air cleaner runs when the fan runs.
- Quick Clean: Full power cycle, increases fan speed to 100% for three hours.
- Allergy Clean: Full power cycle, increases fan speed to 100% for 24 hours.
3 Set Point Panel
A Setpoint is the desired temperature. Adjust setpoints using the [Raise button] and [Lower button] for Heating and Cooling modes.
4 Manually Set up a Schedule
Follow these steps for manual scheduling, or use the Guided Scheduling option.
- Turn Scheduling On and select Manual Scheduling.
- Enter the Schedule Menu.
- Select a day or time period (default periods: Wake, Away, Home, Sleep).
- Select the days you want to schedule. Multiple days can be selected for identical schedules.
- Adjust the Time for each period using the [Time button]. Adjust setpoints using the [Temperature button]. Up to 6 periods per day can be added or deleted.
- Press "Apply" when complete.
Example Schedules:
Example A: Weekday schedule for someone who works and is out of the house.
Example B: Schedule for someone out of town Monday-Thursday.
5 Using Photos
Personalize your thermostat with photos via an SD card.
Using an SD Card
Insert the SD Card into the slot on the bottom right, ensuring the "notch" is oriented correctly (upwards). The card must remain inserted and unlocked to view photos.
Recommended SD Cards: SD, SDHC, SD Adapter, microSD, miniSD, microSDHC, mini SDHC.
Required Photo Formats: .jpg, .jpeg, .bmp, .png, or .gif. Each photo must be less than 3MB.
Load and Select Photos
- Ensure the SD card is inserted. A message appears if it's not.
- Images load from the SD card.
- Browse using the arrow buttons on the screen edges. Touch an image for full size. Check the "Add to Slideshow" box to include it.
- Thumbnail view shows up to 15 photos at once; select photos for the slideshow here.
- Press [Settings] to configure the Screen Saver after selecting photos, or navigate via the Screen Saver menu.
Screen Saver Settings
Choose between a standard or custom photo screen saver.
- Turn the screen saver "On" and set the wait time.
- Default Screen Saver: Displays current temperature as a floating icon on a dark screen.
- Image Screen Saver: Use photos from an SD card slideshow.
- Set the display interval (seconds) for each photo in the slideshow.
6 Other Commonly Used Features
- Name Your System: Assign a name, crucial for multi-system homes.
- Events and Vacations: Set special operating modes for absences.
- Dealer Information: Access dealer contact details via the Service menu.
- Time & Date: Set time, date, and time zone. Automatic syncing via the internet is possible with wireless setup.
- Security: Use a PIN lock to prevent unauthorized changes.
- 1-Touch Presets: Configure quick temperature changes from the Home Screen.
- System Runtime History: Monitor heating/cooling runtime, average indoor/outdoor temperatures to manage utility costs.
Customize Your Home Screen
Add shortcuts and customize the dashboard layout.
Wireless Network Setup
Connect to your wireless network for weather and software update features. Requires an 802.11 B/G wireless router and internet connection.
Humidity
View and adjust home humidity levels and setpoints for Heating and Cooling modes (if equipped).
7 Optional Wireless Networking
Enabling wireless networking provides enhanced functionality:
- Weather Data: Access real-time weather, forecasts, and alerts. Registration with a valid email is required.
- Multi-System Control: View and control other thermostats on the same network. Naming thermostats beforehand is recommended.
- Software Updates: Download updates for optimized operation and new features.
Important: Familiarity with your personal wireless network is helpful. A password is required for secure networks.
7.1 Enabling Wireless Networking
- Enter the Wireless Network Setup Menu.
- Enable the wireless radio using the [Wireless ON/OFF button].
- Press the [Connect to a Network button] to select an available network.
Note: For non-broadcast SSIDs, refer to Advanced Network Settings.
7.2 Selecting a Network
Available networks display their SSIDs. A closed lock icon indicates a secure network; an open lock indicates an unsecured network. Select your network and press [Connect].
Signal Strength Indicators:
- One Bar (Red): Very Weak
- Two Bars (Yellow): Weak
- Three Bars (Green): Strong
- Four Bars (Green): Very Strong
A minimum of three bars is recommended for stable operation. Signal strength can be affected by router model, interference, obstructions, and distance. If "Network Not Found" appears, verify the network is functioning and within range.
7.3 Enter Network Key/Password
For unsecured networks, a message will display. For secured networks (closed padlock), enter the case-sensitive network key (password).
The thermostat connects to the network. A green dot and signal strength indicator confirm successful connection.
7.4 Advanced Networking Information
Access the Advanced Network Setup Menu for non-broadcast networks or static IP address configuration. This requires networking familiarity. Consult your network administrator or router documentation for details.
7.5 Network Security (Hidden SSID)
For networks where the SSID is not broadcast:
- Select the [Network Security button].
- Press the [Enter SSID Name button] and enter the SSID name.
- Select the network security type.
- Press the [Enter Network Key button] and enter the network key (password).
7.6 Host Settings (Static IP)
Configure host settings if DHCP is off or unavailable, or for a static IP address.
- Select the [Host Settings button].
- Select IP Address, Gateway, and Subnet Mask buttons as needed.
- Enter the required IP addresses.
- Manually select a DNS server by entering its IP address.
- Press [Connect to the network] after assigning addresses.
- To switch from Static IP to DHCP, press [Release and Renew IP Address].
Note: DHCP may automatically assign addresses for non-broadcast networks.
7.7 Network Properties
Displays the thermostat's current network information.
7.8 Disconnecting from a Network
The thermostat automatically reconnects after interruptions. To disconnect, go to the "Connect to a Network" menu and select [Disconnect]. If changing networks or router settings, disconnect the current network first.
7.9 Multi-System Environments
In multi-system homes, thermostats can see and control each other if connected to the same network and set to the same Access Control Group (e.g., "Group A").
- The [System button] changes to a [Zones button] when multiple systems are detected.
- The Zone Menu provides an overview of each zone's status.
- Zone Names: Use [Rename System button], [Rename Zone button], [Select Zone Name button], or [Select System Name button] to manage names.
- The main screen displays the current zone, with arrow buttons to cycle through other zones.
8 Wireless Registration
Registration is required for Weather, Software Updates, and linking thermostats. It ensures up-to-date software and future features. Email notifications are sent for upgrades. Refer to trane.com for privacy policy.
- From the Network Setup Screen, select [Register Now] or follow prompts if accessing Weather before registration.
- Read and accept the License Agreement.
- The E-mail Registration screen explains the process: enter an address to receive a verification code.
- Enter a valid email address and press [Apply].
- The thermostat connects to a server, and a verification email is sent.
- Check your email for the 5-digit verification code.
- Enter the verification code. This is a one-time process.
- Additional features are now enabled.
9 Software Upgrades
Your thermostat can upgrade its operating system for optimized performance and new features.
Requirements:
- Active internet connection.
- Thermostat registered.
- SD card with sufficient memory for upgrade data.
Access the menu via Menu > Settings > Network > [Software Upgrades].
Upgrade Methods:
- Internet Update: Select "Check for updates on the internet" (default).
- SD Card Update: Download the software image from trane.com, save it to an SD card, and insert it into the thermostat. Select "Check for upgrades on SD Card".

10 Troubleshooting
Slow response or unexpected operation:
Reboot your thermostat.
"No System Found" displays:
Press the [Reboot button].
No response to button presses:
Remove and re-install the thermostat. The boot-up process may take several minutes.
Remove Thermostat:
Grasp the thermostat edges and gently pull straight away from the subbase.
Re-Install Thermostat:
Align the thermostat flat onto the subbase and apply gentle pressure until it fits snugly.
System Alerts
Alerts indicate communication or operation issues.
- Click [Dealer Contact Info] to retrieve dealer phone numbers and website.
- Press [Close] to dismiss the alert. The alert icon remains in the menu bar for recall.
Dealer Information can also be accessed via Menu > Settings > Dealer Information.

Limited Warranty
This limited warranty is extended by Trane to the original purchaser and succeeding owners of the property where the control is installed, for products purchased and retained in the U.S.A. and Canada.
Warranty Period: Begins upon verified installation completion. If unverified, it begins six months after manufacture date based on serial number.
Coverage: If any part fails due to a manufacturing defect within five years from the start of the warranty period, Trane will provide a new low voltage room comfort control free of charge. Local transportation, service labor, and diagnosis calls are not included.
Exclusions: This warranty does not apply if the control was purchased uninstalled (e.g., online), or if it is not:
- Installed by a licensed or qualified HVAC technician.
- Applied and installed per manufacturer's recommendations.
- In compliance with all industry standards, codes, and local regulations.
Damage Not Covered: Unreasonable use, failure to maintain, acts of God (fire, water, storms, lightning, earthquake), theft, riot, misuse, abuse, increased utility costs, improper equipment match-up, installation, or application. Failures or data loss caused by third-party products or systems are also excluded.
Limitation of Liability: This warranty is in lieu of all other warranties. Trane shall not be liable for incidental or consequential damages. Some states may have different rules regarding implied warranties or consequential damages.
