1.1 Overview of Cross-Border Supply Chain
What is a cross-border supply chain? Simply put, it refers to the process of sellers storing inventory from manufacturers worldwide, handling cross-border transportation, customs clearance, and ground transportation, bulk inventory storage, managing replenishment for Amazon and other sales channels, and delivering directly to customers. For sellers, a smooth logistics process is key to the smooth progress of cross-border transactions. Through the cross-border supply chain end-to-end display below, you can understand the basic process of cross-border logistics from seller shipment to buyer delivery.
What is Cross-Border Transportation?
You can understand cross-border transportation, or cross-border logistics, as international logistics, which refers to the process of transporting goods from one country to another via sea, land, or air, and completing international commodity transactions through local distribution. Goods shipped from your hands will go through multiple stages before finally being delivered to the buyer.
What is Warehousing and Distribution?
The core of warehousing and distribution is inventory management, which is controlling inventory levels to avoid excess or stockouts. Inventory management also controls the capital tied up in inventory, affecting the seller's cash turnover rate and profit margin. Inventory management is a key part of Amazon store operations, affecting overall operational revenue, and requires sellers to continuously monitor and optimize based on their business situation.
What is Last-Mile Delivery and After-Sales Service?
Last-mile delivery refers to the service process of logistics delivery to the buyer and after-sales returns, including order sorting, packaging, and delivery, as well as providing customer service such as inquiries and returns to the buyer.
1.2 Choosing the Right Cross-Border Logistics Solution
Sellers can choose cross-border logistics services with different functions at different stages according to their needs, to quickly and efficiently solve problems in each link.
First-Mile Logistics (From Factory/Supplier to Destination Country)
Sellers need to determine their supplier category based on where the goods originate:
Cross-border Suppliers:
Goods originate from countries or regions outside the destination country. For example, shipping from China to sell on the US site means the seller's supplier is overseas.
Domestic Suppliers:
Goods originate from within the seller's destination country, meaning the seller's supplier is already in the destination country.
If you are a Cross-border Supplier:
-
1. Choose Amazon Global Logistics (AGL)
Amazon Global Logistics provides sellers with stable, efficient, and convenient official cross-border logistics services. Leveraging Amazon's powerful logistics network, transportation infrastructure, and advanced technology, it transports goods to various warehousing and distribution networks, meeting sellers' diversified logistics and warehousing needs, and helping sellers win in supply chain management.
-
2. Choose Amazon SEND (Amazon Cross-Border Carrier Partner Program)
Amazon SEND is a program where Amazon selects third-party logistics carriers to ship seller's inbound shipments from China to Amazon's fulfillment centers in the destination country, providing sellers with a one-stop FBA first-mile inbound service.
If you are a Domestic Supplier:
You can choose the Amazon Carrier Partner Program (PCP). The PCP option is suitable for small parcel delivery, LTL (Less Than Truckload), multimodal transportation, and full truckload shipments within the 48 contiguous states of the United States. This program offers discounted rates for shipments to Amazon fulfillment centers.
