Tobenone USB-C Docking Station: Before Purchase & Troubleshooting
Before Purchase
To confirm whether your laptop's USB-C port supports display, refer to your laptop's manual for its USB-C type. Alternatively, provide your exact laptop model for assistance in confirming compatibility with the docking station.
Reminder
- USB C Port: Supports data transfer and power delivery, but not monitor extension.
- 4K Resolution: The final HDMI/DP output resolution depends on your host devices. Refer to Question 5 for troubleshooting details.
- 65W Power Supply (Included): This dock includes a 65W power adapter, providing approximately 55W output. The PD port supports up to 100W input and 87W output. To achieve 85W charging, use a USB-C wall charger and cable that both support 100W PD charging.
Troubleshooting
Q1: Why HDMI and DP cannot work?
- Ensure your Windows laptop's USB-C port supports video output.
- Use standard cables (HDMI to HDMI/DP/VGA or DP to DP/HDMI/VGA). If unsure about cable standards, contact support.
- Connect the power supply to the dock's PD port for sufficient power.
- Verify connections are correct. Try this sequence: remove all cables, reboot laptop, connect dock to laptop via USB-C, connect power supply to dock's PD port, then connect other devices like monitors.
Q2: Why one of the monitors does not display?
Right-click the desktop, go to Graphics Settings, and select 'One or More Active Displays'.
Q3: Why the monitor can't wake up after the laptop sleeps?
- Unplug and replug the connection.
- To prevent disconnection during sleep, turn off the laptop or extend the screen time when not in use.
Q4: Why does the monitor flicker?
- Connection instability may cause flickering. Unplug and replug. Follow the sequence: remove all cables, reboot laptop, connect dock to laptop via USB-C, connect power supply to dock's PD port, then connect other devices like monitors.
- Ensure the power adapter is plugged into the dock's USB-C Power Delivery port.
- If the issue persists, contact support.
Q5: Why I cannot get dual 4K@60Hz external monitors?
The HDMI1/DP port supports resolutions up to 4K@60Hz. For 4K@60Hz, your Windows laptop's USB-C port must support DP 1.4. This dock supports single 4K@60Hz external monitors via HDMI 1 or DP port if your laptop supports DP 1.4. The final resolution depends on your host device's DP1.2 or DP1.4 support. See the table below for details.
Resolution Support (DP 1.4 MST):
Item | Extend | HDMI 1 | HDMI 2 | DP |
---|---|---|---|---|
1 | 4K/60Hz | 1920X1080P/60Hz | 1920X1080P/60Hz | |
2 | Single monitor | 1920X1080P/60Hz | 1920X1080P/60Hz | 1920X1080P/60Hz |
3 | 4K/60Hz | 1920X1080P/60Hz | 1920X1080P/60Hz | |
4 | 1920X1080P/60Hz | 1920X1080P/60Hz | 1920X1080P/60Hz | |
5 | Dual monitor | 1920X1080P/60Hz | 1920X1080P/60Hz | 4K/60Hz |
6 | 1920X1080P/60Hz | 1920X1080P/60Hz | 1920X1080P/60Hz | |
7 | Triple monitor | 1920X1080P/60Hz | 1920X1080P/60Hz | 1920X1080P/60Hz |
Note: 1. Monitor resolutions are consistent with laptop if mirroring display under Windows system. 2. For Windows laptops, only DP1.4 (AMD Graphics Card) can support triple display simultaneously. 3. TB4 devices with 11th Gen Intel CPU support max resolution 4K@30Hz.
