Pioneer Firmware Update (version 8.32) for Certain Pioneer In-Dash AV Receivers
Introduction
Dear Valued Pioneer Customer:
We would like to inform you of the availability of a firmware update (version 8.32) for the current lineup of Pioneer In-Dash AV Receivers. This firmware update (8.32) is only for the following Pioneer In-Dash AV Receivers sold in the United States and Canada: AVH-3300NEX, AVH-2330NEX, AVH-2300NEX, AVH-1330NEX, and AVH-1300NEX. Installation on any other product could cause irreversible damage.
Improvements
This firmware update (version 8.32) contains the following improvements:
- Corrects minor errors that may occur when connected to a SiriusXM tuner.
- Corrects a problem with WAV file playback.
- Corrects an error where some sources may not be selected with a remote control after changing the source layout on the home screen.
- Improves the operability of the air conditioning adjustments when connected with the iDataLink Maestro interface.
- Corrects a problem with the order of your surname & first name appearing incorrectly if there is a space between surname & first name in Bluetooth phone book.
- Corrects a problem on AppRadio Mode with the touch screen's response speed for EC Touch and AppRadioLIVE apps.
- Corrects a problem in BT Audio with certain devices playing the rhythm tempo slower than the original music.
- Improves other minor problems.
Requirements for Update
In order to perform this update, the following items are needed:
- Pioneer In-Dash AV Receiver: AVH-3300NEX, AVH-2330NEX, AVH-2300NEX, AVH-1330NEX, or AVH-1300NEX
- Blank USB storage device (no files), 2 GB or larger in capacity, formatted to FAT32
Steps to install the firmware are provided on the firmware download page. Installation of the update should take no more than ten minutes to complete.
How to Obtain the Free Firmware Update
- Download the firmware update files to a computer from the Pioneer website.
- Transfer the files to the USB storage device for insertion into the Pioneer In-Dash AV Receiver.

Updating the Firmware on Your Unit
IMPORTANT
Please download and print these firmware update instructions before downloading and installing the firmware update. It is important that you complete all steps correctly and in the order described below.
The following Pioneer In-Dash AV Receiver models are compatible:
- AVH-3300NEX
- AVH-2330NEX
- AVH-2300NEX
- AVH-1330NEX
- AVH-1300NEX
CAUTION
- DO NOT turn your unit off, touch the touchscreen, or eject the USB storage device while the firmware is being updated. Doing so may cause severe and permanent damage to the unit.
- You can only update the firmware when the vehicle is stopped and the parking brake is engaged.
Update Procedure
- Connect a blank (formatted) USB storage device to your computer, and then locate the correct update file and copy it onto the USB storage device.
- Connect the USB storage device to the USB port on your unit.
- Set the audio source to "OFF" on your unit.
- Press the HOME button to display the Top menu screen.
- Touch the following keys in the following order: ⚙️ [Gear Icon] → ? [Wrench Icon]. The "System" screen appears.
- Scroll down the list and touch [System Information].
- Touch [Firmware Information].
- After the "Firmware Information" screen appears, check the firmware version number.
- Verify that the firmware on your unit is not already 8.32.
- Touch [Firmware Update]. The "Firmware Update" screen appears.
- Touch [Continue] to display the data transfer mode.
- Read the "WARNING," then touch the [Start] button to start the update process. If it shows "ERROR" on the display, try another USB device.
- After starting, there will be a progress bar while updating. (Please note: version number will differ from the image below.)
- Display will show "It succeeded" when the update is complete.
- The product will reboot after the update is finished. Do not touch anything even when the screen is blacked out. After it has finished rebooting, the screen will return to the menu screen.
- The firmware update is now complete. Your Pioneer AV Receiver is now ready for use.
