Stay Up-to-Date with Pioneer Firmware
This guide provides essential instructions for updating the system firmware on your Pioneer In-Dash Receiver. Keeping your receiver's firmware updated ensures optimal performance and access to the latest features.
This update is compatible with the following Pioneer In-Dash Receiver models:
- AVH-1400NEX
- AVH-1440NEX
- AVH-2400NEX
- AVH-2440NEX
- AVH-3400NEX
- MVH-1400NEX
- MVH-2300NEX
- MVH-2400NEX
- MVH-AV251BT
Before You Begin
Please download and print these instructions before proceeding. Ensure you have a USB storage device (2GB or larger, formatted to FAT32 and blank) ready for the update process.

Updating Your Firmware
Follow these steps carefully to update your receiver's firmware:
- Download the latest firmware files from the Pioneer website: pioneerelectronics.com/firmware.
- Extract the downloaded file and copy the correct update file to the root directory of your blank USB storage device.
- Connect the USB storage device to your Pioneer In-Dash Receiver.
- Navigate to the System Information menu on your receiver to check the current firmware version.
- Select the Firmware Update option and follow the on-screen prompts to begin the update.
- Once the update is complete, the receiver will reboot. Remove the USB storage device.
Important Cautions:
- DO NOT turn off the unit or disconnect the USB device during the update.
- DO NOT drive the vehicle or turn off the engine during the update.
- Performing the update will restore all settings to their default values.
Confirming the Update
After the update is finished, repeat the steps to check the firmware version to confirm that the update was successful.
