Introduction

Congratulations on your purchase of the Professional Remote Food Thermometer. This programmable radio frequency food thermometer allows you to remotely monitor cooking food temperatures and the internal temperature of your grill, oven, or smoker from anywhere in your home.

The ThermoPro TP829B/TP829C is a remote food thermometer system featuring a receiver and transmitter with four detachable, color-coated stainless steel probes. It offers a remote range of up to 1000 feet (300m) and is IPX4 waterproof, providing protection against splashing water.

Receiver and Transmitter Features

Both the receiver and transmitter feature an LCD display that shows all icons and temperature readings. They are equipped with a low battery indicator, a remote range of 1000FT (300m), and are IPX4 waterproof (protecting against splashing water, but not submersion).

The receiver includes a backlight and a temperature alarm. Both units have a tabletop and wall-mounted design, and the battery compartment holds 2*AAA batteries.

Operation and Setup

Installing Batteries

Open the battery compartment of the receiver and insert two “AAA” batteries, observing correct polarity. Repeat this process for the transmitter.

Turning On/Off Units

Press the ? (Power) button on the receiver to turn it on or off. Press the ?/?️ button on the transmitter to turn it on or off.

Auto Off Feature

The receiver will automatically shut off if it does not receive a temperature signal from the transmitter for over 30 minutes. The transmitter will shut down if the temperature of all four probes remains below 40°C for 2 hours.

Synchronizing/Pairing Transmitter and Receiver

The transmitter and receiver are typically pre-paired at the factory. If re-synchronization is necessary:

  1. Insert two AAA batteries into the receiver; the signal icon will flash.
  2. Insert two AAA batteries into the transmitter and connect the stainless steel probes. The LCD will display the current temperatures for each probe.
  3. Press and hold the ? button on the receiver for three seconds to enter synchronization mode.
  4. Wait for temperature readings to appear on the receiver display, indicating successful pairing.

Note: The synchronization between the transmitter and receiver is retained even if batteries are replaced.

Using the Thermometer

Setting Meat Temperatures to Preset Doneness Levels

Monitor temperatures for up to four pieces of meat or sections of meat. The receiver will alarm when the target temperature is reached.

  1. Press ? / TIMER to select the desired probe (Probe 1-4).
  2. Press MEAT to select the meat type: GPOUL (Ground Poultry), BBQ, PROG (Program - USER DEFINED TEMPERATURE), BEEF, VEAL, CHCKE (Chicken), PORK, POULT (Poultry), LAMB, FISH, HAM, and GBEEF (Ground Beef).
  3. Press TASTE/HI/LO to select the doneness level: RARE, MED RARE, MEDIUM, MEDIUM WELL, and WELL DONE.
  4. Once the current temperature reaches the preset target temperature for the selected probe, the receiver will sound an alarm. Press any button to stop the alarm.

Setting Meat Temperature to Your Specific Taste (PROG Mode)

For custom temperature settings:

  1. Press ? / TIMER to select the desired probe (Probe 1-4).
  2. Press MEAT until the LCD displays PROG.
  3. Use the ▲ or ▼ buttons to increase or decrease the set temperature. Press and hold the buttons for rapid adjustment.
  4. When the current temperature reaches the target temperature for the selected probe, the receiver will sound an alarm. Press any button to stop the alarm.

Setting and Monitoring BBQ Temperature

Use any of the 4 probes to measure and monitor the ambient temperature inside your smoker, barbecue, or oven. Clip the selected probe(s) to the rack.

  1. Press ? / TIMER to select the desired probe (Probe 1-4).
  2. Press MEAT until the LCD displays BBQ.
  3. Press TASTE/HI/LO to set the HI BBQ temperature. Use ▲/▼ to adjust. The HI BBQ temperature range is 140°F - 572°F (recommended), with a default of 250°F.
  4. Press TASTE/HI/LO again to confirm the HI BBQ temperature and proceed to setting the LO BBQ temperature.
  5. Use ▲/▼ to set the LO BBQ temperature. The LO BBQ temperature range is 32°F - 554°F (recommended), with a default of 225°F.
  6. Press TASTE/HI/LO again to confirm the LO BBQ temperature.
  7. Press the ?/❌ / CLEAR button to turn the alarm on/off.

Note: The HI BBQ temperature setting will not allow a temperature lower than the LO BBQ temperature. The LO BBQ temperature alarm will only activate once the actual BBQ temperature goes above the set LO temperature.

Fast Target Temperature Setting

To quickly set all probes to a specific target temperature:

  1. Press and hold the MEAT and TASTE/HI/LO keys simultaneously for 3 seconds.

Example: If Probe 1 is set to BEEF MEDIUM 160°F, the target temperatures for PROBE 2, 3, and 4 will also be set to 160°F.

Timer Functions

Setting a Countdown Timer

  1. Press and hold the ? / TIMER button for 3 seconds to switch to TIMER mode. The timer will display 00:00 and a small timer icon will appear in the upper part of the display.
  2. Press TASTE/HI/LO to select between an Hour/Minute timer and a Minute/Second timer.
  3. Use the ▲/▼ buttons to adjust the initial timer setting. Press and hold the buttons for rapid adjustment. Press the ?/❌ / CLEAR button to confirm the setting.
  4. After setting the timer, press the ?/❌ / CLEAR button to start it. The TIMER icon will blink, indicating the countdown timer is running.
  5. To pause the countdown timer, press the ?/❌ / CLEAR button. The TIMER icon will become solid.
  6. To clear the timer, press and hold the ?/❌ / CLEAR button. To resume, press the ?/❌ / CLEAR button again.
  7. Once the countdown timer reaches 00:00, an alarm will sound for one minute. Press any button to stop the alarm.

Note: When the timer counts down below 1:00 hour, the display automatically adjusts to show minutes and seconds. The maximum countdown timer setting is 99 hours and 59 minutes.

Setting a Count Up Timer

  1. Press and hold the ? / TIMER button to switch to TIMER mode. The timer will display 00:00 and a small timer icon will appear in the upper part of the display.
  2. Press the ?/❌ / CLEAR button to start the count-up timer. The TIMER icon will blink, indicating the count-up timer is running. The maximum count uptime is 99 hours and 59 minutes.
  3. To pause the count-up timer, press the ?/❌ / CLEAR button. The TIMER icon will become solid.
  4. To clear the timer, press and hold the ?/❌ / CLEAR button. To resume, press the ?/❌ / CLEAR button again.

Note: When the count-up timer reaches 59 minutes and 59 seconds, it will automatically change to Hour:Minute display format.
