Using the Motion Controller
Powering On/Off and Battery Status
Press the power button once to check the current battery level. Press and then press and hold the power button to power the motion controller on or off.
The battery level LEDs display the power level during charging and discharging. The statuses are defined as:
- LED is on.
- LED is flashing.
- LED is off.
Battery Level During Discharge:
LEDs | Battery Level |
---|---|
[Four LEDs on] | 81%-100% |
[Three LEDs on, one flashing] | 76%-80% |
[Three LEDs on] | 64%-75% |
[Two LEDs on, one flashing] | 51%-63% |
[Two LEDs on] | 26%-50% |
[One LED on, one flashing] | 16%-25% |
[One LED on] | 9%-15% |
[One LED flashing] | 1%-8% |
If the battery level is low, use a charger that supports 5V, 2A output. Ensure the charger's output voltage is 5V to prevent damage.
Battery Level During Charging:
LEDs | Battery Level |
---|---|
[One LED flashing] | 1%-50% |
[One LED on, one flashing] | 51%-75% |
[Two LEDs on] | 76%-99% |
[All LEDs on] | 100% |
Linking
Preparation before linking:
- Power on the aircraft, goggles, and motion controller.
- Open the goggles menu. Select 'Status' and verify the aircraft model. If incorrect, select 'Switch' and choose the correct aircraft.
- Ensure the aircraft is linked with the goggles.
Link the aircraft with the motion controller:
- Press and hold the power button on the aircraft until its battery level LEDs start to blink in sequence.
- Press and hold the power button on the motion controller until it beeps continually and its battery level LEDs blink in sequence.
- The motion controller will stop beeping once linking is successful. Both the aircraft and motion controller battery level LEDs will turn solid, displaying the battery level.
Note: The aircraft can only be controlled by one remote control device during flight. If your aircraft is linked with multiple devices, turn off the others before flight.
Activation
When all devices are powered on and linked, connect the USB-C port of the goggles to your mobile device and run the DJI Fly app. The app will automatically identify and activate the DJI RC Motion 2 in silent mode. Activate the device as soon as possible after purchase to ensure proper after-sales service.
Controlling the Camera
FN Dial Usage:
Adjust camera parameters by pressing the dial to open the camera settings panel in the FPV view. Scroll the dial to navigate menus or adjust values, then press the dial to confirm. Press and hold the dial to exit the current menu.
Control camera tilt before takeoff or during RTH and landing: press and hold the FN dial from the FPV view, then scroll up or down to tilt the camera. Release the dial to stop tilting.
Shutter/Record Button:
Press and hold to switch between photo and video modes. Press once to take a photo or start/stop recording.
Controlling the Aircraft
Safety Warning: To ensure flight safety, press the lock button once to make the aircraft brake and hover before operating the goggles. Failure to do so is a safety risk and may lead to loss of control.
Mode Button:
The motion controller has two modes: Normal (default) and Sport. Press the mode button to switch between them. Press and hold to initiate RTH; press again to cancel RTH.
Lock Button:
Use the lock button for takeoff, landing, and braking:
- Takeoff: Press twice to start motors, then press and hold to take off. The aircraft ascends to approximately 1.2 m and hovers.
- Landing: While hovering, press and hold the lock button to land and stop motors.
- Brake: During flight, press once to brake and hover with attitude locked. Press again to unlock attitude and resume control.
- Cancel RTH/Landing: When the aircraft is performing RTH or auto landing, press the button once to cancel.
Note: Critical Low Battery landing cannot be canceled.
Stopping Aircraft Motors Mid-flight: In an emergency (e.g., collision, loss of control), pressing the lock button four times can stop motors immediately. Caution: Stopping motors mid-flight will cause the aircraft to crash.
Joystick
Toggle the joystick up or down to ascend or descend. Toggle left or right for horizontal movement.
- After motors start (double-press lock button), slowly push the joystick up for takeoff.
- To land, pull the joystick down when the aircraft is at the landing position. Hold it down until motors stop after landing.
Accelerator
Press the accelerator to fly in the direction indicated by the circle in the goggles. Push forward to fly backward. Apply more pressure to accelerate. Release to stop and hover.
Flying speed can be configured:
- Open the goggles menu.
- Select Settings > Control > Motion Controller > Gain Tuning, and set the maximum speed for each direction.
Motion Control
Control aircraft orientation by tilting the motion controller left and right. Tilt left for counterclockwise rotation, right for clockwise rotation. The circle in the goggles screen moves accordingly.
The greater the tilt angle, the faster the aircraft rotates.
Tilt the motion controller up and down to control gimbal tilt during flight. The circle in the goggles screen moves up and down, changing video transmission.
To control ascent or descent: first tilt the motion controller 90° up or down. Once the ascend/descend icon appears in the goggles, press the accelerator to ascend or descend.
Motion Controller Alert
The controller alerts when battery level is between 6%-15% (cancelable by pressing the power button). A critical alert sounds for levels below 5% (non-cancelable). Alerts also sound during RTH (non-cancelable).
Motion Controller Calibration
Calibrate compass, IMU, accelerator, and joystick when prompted:
- Open the goggles menu.
- Select Settings > Control > Motion Controller > RC Calibration.
- Select the module and follow prompts.
Important:
- DO NOT calibrate in locations with strong magnetic interference (e.g., near magnets, parking lots, reinforced concrete structures).
- DO NOT carry ferromagnetic materials (e.g., mobile phones) during calibration.
Firmware Update
Update firmware using one of the following methods:
Using DJI Fly App:
Power on all devices (aircraft, goggles, controller) and ensure they are linked. Connect goggles to mobile device via USB-C, run DJI Fly, and follow prompts. Ensure mobile device has internet access.
Using DJI ASSISTANT™ 2 (Consumer Drones Series):
- Power on the device and connect it to a computer via USB-C cable.
- Launch DJI Assistant 2 and log in with a DJI account.
- Select the device and click 'Firmware Update' on the left.
- Select the firmware version.
- Firmware downloads and updates automatically.
- The device restarts after completion.
Important Notes for Update:
- Ensure computer has internet connection.
- Ensure device has sufficient power.
- Follow all steps to avoid update failure.
- Update may take several minutes; wait patiently.
- Do not unplug the USB-C cable during the update.
- Note that parameters may reset; record and reconfigure settings before updating.
