- kW(PI): Power Input (including the compressor & cond. fan motor) (kW)
- DB: Dry Bulb Temperature
- WB: Wet Bulb Temperature
- IDB: Indoor Dry Bulb Temperature
- IWB: Indoor Wet Bulb Temperature
Piping Length Correction Factor
The correction factor is based on the equivalent piping length in meters (EL) and the height difference between outdoor and indoor units in meters (H).
H: Height difference between indoor unit and outdoor unit (m).
- H>0: Position of outdoor unit is higher than that of the indoor unit (m).
- H<0: Position of outdoor unit is lower than that of the indoor unit (m).
L: Actual one-way piping length between indoor unit and outdoor unit (m).
EL: Equivalent one-way piping length between indoor unit and outdoor unit (m).
90° Elbow Correction Factor
Gas Diameter (mm/inch) | 9.52 (3/8') | 12.7 (1/2') | 15.88 (5/8') | 19.05 (3/4') | 22.22 (7/8') |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
90° Elbow | 0.15 | 0.2 | 0.25 | 0.35 | 0.40 |

Height Difference Correction Factor
Height difference | 16ft (5m) | 33ft (10m) | 108ft (30m) |
---|---|---|---|
Factor | 0.01 | 0.02 | 0.025 |
To ensure correct unit selection, consider the farthest indoor unit.
NOTE:
- Above data assumes the height difference between indoor unit and outdoor unit is 0m.
- To minimize length of connection pipes for optimal performance, if the outdoor unit is installed higher or lower than the indoor unit, apply height correction factor additionally to length correction factor. If the outdoor unit is higher, apply correction to cooling capacity; if lower, apply to heating capacity.
Performance Data Tables
The following tables provide detailed performance data for various Friedrich Universal Heat Pump models under different operating conditions. Data includes Total Capacity (TC), Sensible/Total Capacity Ratio (S/T), and Power Input (kW) for both cooling and heating operations.
(Detailed tables for 24K, 36K, 48K, and 60K outdoor units are presented here, covering various airflow rates and temperature conditions.)
Correction Factors According to Defrosting Operation
The heating capacity data excludes defrosting operation periods. Heating capacity is corrected using the following formula:
Corrected heating capacity = Defrost correction factor × unit capacity
Defrost Correction Factor by Outdoor Temperature
Outdoor temperature [°F(°C)DB] | 5(-15) | 14(-10) | 23(-5) | 32(0) | 44.6(7) | 50(10) | 59(15) |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Correction factor (humidity rate 85% RH) | 0.95 | 0.95 | 0.93 | 0.85 | 1.0 | 1.0 | 1.0 |
(A diagram illustrates the reduction in capacity due to white frost during a defrost cycle.)
NOTE: The correction factor is not valid for special conditions like snowfall or transitional periods.
