Keys and Symbols

Installing the Batteries / Connecting the AC Adapter

Installing / Replacing the Batteries

Remove the battery cover (located on the bottom of the scale). Insert 4 new AA size batteries into the battery compartment, taking extreme care of the polarities. Replace the battery cover. The batteries provided with the scale are for testing the performance of the scale and may have a limited life.

AC Adapter (Optional)

Verify that the AC adapter is correct. Open the rubber cap (covering the AC adapter jack) and plug the AC adapter into the AC adapter jack.

Weighing Procedures

1. Turning the Scale On / Off

Press the ON/OFF key to turn the scale on. The scale displays all segments for a few seconds and then displays zero. Press the ON/OFF key again to turn the scale off.

2. Selecting the Weighing Unit

Press the UNITS key to select the weighing unit. The scale will power up with the weighing unit that was in use when turned off last time.

3. Weighing

Verify that the reading is zero. If not, press the RE-ZERO key to zero the display. If you use a container for weighing, place an empty container on the weighing pan and press the RE-ZERO key to zero the display. Place the objects to be weighed on the pan or in the container. When the reading becomes stable, the STABLE indicator O is displayed.

Note

Automatic Power-Off Function

If the scale is left ON and the STABLE indicator O is displayed, the automatic power-off function turns power off after approximately 5 minutes. To disable or enable this function, press the ON/OFF key while pressing the RE-ZERO key. Then POFFU (disabled) or POFF (enabled) will be displayed. Select the setting by pressing the RE-ZERO key and press the UNITS key. The scale displays End and returns to the weighing mode.

HT Series Compact Scale Calibration and Function Setting Procedures

Calibration

When is Calibration Required?

Calibration may be required when the HT series compact scale was initially installed or has been moved to another location.

Calibration Using a Calibration Weight

1. Entering the Calibration Mode

Remove the calibration switch cover located on the bottom of the scale. Press the [ON:OFF] switch to turn the scale on. Press the calibration switch while the scale is in the weighing mode. CAL will be displayed.

2. Zero Calibration

Press the [RE-ZERO] key. CALO will be displayed. Wait for the STABLE Indicator O to be displayed. Press the [RE-ZERO] key to perform zero calibration. CALF will be displayed after a few seconds. To calibrate span, go to step 3. To return to the weighing mode without performing span calibration, press the [UNITS] key.

3. Span Calibration

When CALF is displayed, place the calibration weight on the center of the weighing pan. Wait for the STABLE indicator O to be displayed. Press the [RE-ZERO] key to perform span calibration. End will be displayed and the scale will automatically return to the weighing mode.

Note: For details about the calibration weight, see "Specifications" section.

Calibration by Gravity Compensation

If the acceleration of gravity at your location is not 9.798 m/s² and you do not have calibration weights, the scale can be calibrated by compensating for the acceleration of gravity. (See "The Value of Gravity at Various Locations" section.)

1. Setting a New Acceleration Value

When CAL is displayed, press the [UNITS] key. 9798 will be displayed. To change the value, press the [RE-ZERO] key to increment the blinking digit and press the [UNITS] key to move the blinking digit.

2. Storing the Value into the Memory

While pressing the [UNITS] key, press and hold the [RE-ZERO] key and release the [UNITS] key. After End, CAL will be displayed. Turn the scale off to finish the procedure.

Gravity Acceleration Chart

A chart illustrating gravity acceleration (m/s²) versus latitude (degrees), with lines representing different altitudes: Sea Level, -300m/1000 ft., 600m/2000 ft., 900m/3000 ft., 1200m/4000 ft., 1500m/5000 ft., 1800m/6000 ft., and 2100m/7000 ft. The chart shows that gravity acceleration generally increases with latitude and decreases with altitude.

Units

Available Units and Display Order

The scale supports various weighing units, which appear in the display in the following sequence: Gram (g) ↔ Tola (t) ↔ Ounce (avoir) (oz) ↔ Troy ounce (ozt) ↔ Pound ounce (lb oz) ↔ Tael (tl). For Tael, you can select either Taiwan tael or Hong Kong tael.

Unit Selection in Function Setting Mode

The units to be used can be selected in the function setting mode. The displaying order of the selected units is the same as above, while skipping the units that are not selected. For detailed information about selecting units, see "Function Setting" section.

Function Setting

Selecting Units

  1. While pressing the [UNITS] key, press the [ON:OFF] key to turn the scale on. Un it will be displayed.
  2. Press the [RE-ZERO] key once. Un it g will be displayed.
  3. Each time the [RE-ZERO] key is pressed, the display switches between Un it g and Un it g.
