Connecting Tuya Smart Devices with Amazon Echo and Google Home

What You Need to Get Started

Before integrating your smart devices with voice assistants, ensure you meet the following conditions.

For Amazon Echo Integration

• A stable Wi-Fi network that can access Amazon servers.
• An Amazon Echo device (e.g., Echo, Echo Tap, Echo Dot).
• An Amazon account.
• The Tuya Smart App and a corresponding account.
• Your smart devices.

For Google Home Integration

• A Google Home device or an Android phone with Google Assistant.
• The latest Google Home App.
• The latest Google App (Android only).
• A Google account.
• The device display language must be set to English US.
• The Tuya Smart App and a corresponding account.
• Your smart devices.

Setting Up the Tuya Smart App

You can skip this section if you have already added devices to your Tuya Smart account and their names are easily recognized.

Download Tuya Smart App

Scan the QR code below to download the Tuya Smart App: [QR Code for Tuya Smart App download]

Alternatively, search for "Tuya Smart" in the App Store or Google Play to install the app. Note: "Tuya Smart" is an example app name; you can download your preferred app.

Register a Tuya Smart Account

Open the Tuya Smart App, tap "Register" to create an account, then sign in to the app.

Add Device and Change Name

Sign in with your Tuya Smart account, add your device, and then change its name to an easily recognized word or phrase, such as "bedroom light".

Integrating with Amazon Echo

Set Up Amazon Echo and Enable Tuya Smart Skill

For configuration in mainland China, where the Alexa App may not be available, using the web is recommended. Users can configure Echo through the web or the Alexa App. The web configuration link is: http://alexa.amazon.com/spa/index.html. Install the "Amazon Alexa" app from the App Store or Google Play. This guide uses the App configuration as an example, as web and app configurations are similar.

Set Up Echo with Alexa App

Skip this part if your Echo is already set up.

1. Ensure your Echo device is powered on.
2. Verify Echo is connected to a Wi-Fi network that provides smooth access to Amazon services.
3. Open the Alexa App by tapping its icon on your mobile device.
4. Enter your Amazon account credentials and tap "SIGN IN".
5. Tap the menu icon [hamburger menu icon] in the top left corner, select "Add Device", and then select "Amazon Echo" on the setup page. 6. Choose your Echo device type and tap "CONTINUE".
7. Select your Wi-Fi network and enter the password, then tap "CONNECT". Echo may take several minutes to connect to the network. Link Tuya Smart Account to Alexa

1. Tap "Skills & Games" in the hamburger menu [hamburger menu icon], search for "Tuya Smart", select it, and tap "ENABLE" to activate the Skill. [Screenshot of the Alexa app's 'Skills & Games' section, with 'Tuya Smart' highlighted].
2. You will be redirected to an account linking page. Enter your Tuya Smart account credentials, select your country/region, and tap "Link Now" to link your Tuya Smart account. [Screenshot of the Alexa app's account linking page for Tuya Smart].
3. Alternatively, link via Verification Code: Open the Tuya Smart App, navigate to "Me" > "More Services" > "Alexa".

Control Your Smart Devices Through Echo

Discover Devices

Echo needs to discover your smart devices before it can control them. After successful skill binding, the "Discover Devices" page will appear automatically. [Screenshot of the Alexa app showing the 'Discover Devices' screen].

Note: If you change a device's name in the Tuya Smart App, Echo must re-discover the device before you can control it.

Control Devices by Voice Commands

You can now control your smart devices using voice commands with Echo.

Integrating with Google Home

Set Up Google Home and Configure in Home Control

Configuration requires the Google Home App. Search for "Google Home" in the App Store or Google Play to install it.

Set Up Google Home with Google Home App

Skip this part if your Google Home is already set up.

1. Ensure your Google Home device is powered on and the indicator lights show it's ready for connection.
2. Verify Google Home is connected to a Wi-Fi network that provides good access to Google services.

11. Click "VIEW MORE" to enable personal results (calendar, flight itinerary, etc.) for personalized customization. You can also set your geographic location and music service. Click "NEXT". Link Tuya Smart Account in Home Control

Attention: Due to a known bug in the Google Home App, only the first Google account signed in can be used for "Home Control Action". If you use multiple Google accounts, ensure the primary one is used.

1. On the Google Home App homepage, tap the menu icon [hamburger menu icon] in the top left, select "+", then "Set up device" under "Add and manage", and finally "Have something already set up". 2. Find "Tuya Smart" in the list. In the new window, select your Tuya Smart account's region, enter your Tuya Smart account credentials, and tap "Link Now". After assigning rooms for devices, they will appear on the Home Control page. 3. Alternatively, link via Verification Code: Open the Tuya Smart App, navigate to "Me" > "More Services" > "Google Assistant".
