Important Assembly Instructions to Ensure the Sprinkler Remains in a Vertical Position
As temperatures rise, polyethylene tubing expands or lengthens. When temperatures drop, it contracts or shortens. It is important to allow the sprinkler (R7 or S7) to slide back and forth on the trellis wire as the polyethylene tube moves due to temperature changes. The trellis clip connects the sprinkler to the wire. To prevent the clip from binding on the wire and resulting in an angled, rather than vertical, sprinkler mount, consider the following:
- Allow the polyethylene tube to hang from the trellis wire by installing spirals or ties loosely. If possible, leave a small space between the tube and the wire, as shown.
- Place all ties, spirals, or clips that secure the polyethylene tube to the trellis wire at least 4 feet away from the S7 Spinner or R7 Rotator.
Suggested Installation Steps:
- Identify and mark sprinkler locations on each row.
- Secure the polyethylene tube to the trellis wire, placing all ties, spirals, or clips approximately 4 to 5 feet away from the intended sprinkler locations.
- Install the UQC adapter on the polyethylene tube directly between the wire and the tube.
- Connect the sprinkler to the UQC adapter and install the trellis clip.
Visual Description:
The main image depicts a Nelson S7/R7 Trellis Clip securely attached to a black polyethylene tube, which is suspended from a wire. The clip is holding a sprinkler head in place.
A second image shows a vineyard row with polyethylene tubing running along it. Sprinklers are attached via clips. Text labels within the image indicate that the securing ties or clips connecting the trellis wire to the polyethylene tubing should be positioned 4 to 5 feet away from the sprinkler on each side.
The weight of water in the polyethylene tube is necessary to maintain the sprinkler in a vertical position during operation. The ties, clips, or spirals should allow the tube to rotate or hang below the wire.
