ABB DS 200 Series Circuit Breaker Installation and Technical Guide
This document provides essential information for the installation, operation, and technical specifications of the ABB DS 200 series of residual current circuit breakers (RCCBs) and residual current circuit breakers with overcurrent protection (RCBOs).
Product Overview
The ABB DS 200 series, part of the System pro M compact® range, offers reliable protection against electric shock and fire hazards. Key models include:
- DS 200
- DS 200 M
- DSB 200 M
- DS 202
- DS 203
- DS 204
- DSB 202
- DSB 204
The devices are designed for installation on standard 35 mm DIN rails according to DIN EN 60715.
Installation and Mounting
To install the device on a DIN rail:
- Position the device above the 35 mm DIN rail.
- Push the device downwards onto the rail until it securely clicks into place. This action ensures proper mounting.
The device features terminals for connection, typically labeled TOP and BOTTOM. Neutral (N) connections are also indicated.
Operation and Testing
The circuit breaker can be operated using its lever, which indicates the ON or OFF state of the circuit.
ON State: The circuit is closed and power is supplied.
OFF State: The circuit is open and power is interrupted.
A TEST function is integrated into the device. It is recommended to operate the TEST function every 6 months to ensure the residual current protection mechanism is functioning correctly.
The device also supports an OPEN state (circuit interrupted) and a CLOSED state (circuit connected).
Wiring Configurations and Protection
The DS 200 series offers various configurations based on current ratings and pole numbers:
- Current Ratings: Available for In ≤40 A and In=50-63 A.
- Pole Configurations: Available in 2-pole (2P), 3-pole (3P), and 4-pole (4P) versions.
The device provides protection when the current exceeds the residual current threshold (I > IΔn).
Remote Tripping: Additional terminals (6 mm²) are provided for remote tripping functionality, allowing external devices to trigger the breaker.
Installation Verification
Visual indicators are used to demonstrate correct and incorrect installation procedures. A red cross (❌) signifies an incorrect method, while a green checkmark (✔️) indicates a correct method.
Technical Specifications
The following table details dimensions and recommended torque values for terminal connections:
Device Type / Configuration | Width | Torque |
---|---|---|
2-pole (2P), In ≤40 A | 12.5 mm | 2.8 Nm |
3-pole/4-pole (3P/4P), In ≤40 A | 12.5 mm | Bottom: 1.2 Nm, Top: 2.8 Nm |
3-pole/4-pole (3P/4P), 50A ≤ In ≤ 63A | 12.5 mm | 2.8 Nm |
Additional terminals for remote tripping (6 mm²) | 10.2 mm | 0.8 Nm |
