U-PROX SL mini: Universal SmartLine Reader

The U-PROX SL mini is an adjustable, universal SmartLine reader designed for mobile credentials and proximity identifiers. It enables access control systems to utilize smartphones as credentials when used with the U-PROX ID application and U-PROX IDs.

Installation

  1. Make a small recess or hole (diameter 14 mm) to connect the cable under the reader's case.Diagram showing installation height, a 14mm recess for the cable, and drills with 5mm bits.
  2. Loosen the screw at the bottom of the reader.Diagram illustrating the removal of the reader's top cover and back plate, showing screws and mounting hardware.
  3. Remove the top cover and the back plate.
  4. Mount the reader's back plate on the wall using the supplied plastic dowels and screws.
  5. Carry out wiring to the control panel.
  6. Insert the reader into the back plate.
  7. Place the top cover and tighten it with a screw.

Installation on metal surfaces may cause a decrease in reading range. Do not place readers closer than 20 cm from one another. It is possible to install two readers at a distance of 10-15 cm if their yellow wires (Hold/Sync) are interconnected, synchronizing their work to operate alternately.

Connection

The reader offers seamless and easy connection to existing and new access systems. It supports Wiegand interfaces (26, 32, 34, 37, 40, 42, 56, 58, 64, 80 bits) with automatic selection, RS-232, and TouchMemory.

It is recommended to use multi-core signal cable with a 0.22 mm² cross-section for each wire between the reader and the panel.

Configuration

The reader can be fully adjusted, from indication settings to encryption modes, using the free mobile application U-Prox Config.

The reader is supplied without a specified engineering password for programming. To connect and (re)set the password, connect inputs D0 (green) and D1 (white) to each other and then apply power to the reader.

Reader firmware can only be updated using an NFC-enabled Android smartphone.

Mobile Identification

The reader supports digital personal mobile credentials, processed and stored in the user's smartphone via the U-PROX ID application. These credentials can be transferred over NFC and/or 2.4 GHz radio between the reader and the smartphone.

The reader also supports hardware active mobile identifiers: U-PROX Tag and U-PROX Auto Tag.

For smartphones with U-Prox ID, the reader supports 3 operation modes:

  • "Door-Proximity": 10-20 cm range, reader activates via its built-in proximity sensor.
  • "Door": up to 60-70 cm range, recommended for double-sided doors.
  • "Barrier/Gate": adjustable range from 1 to 15 m, recommended for barriers and gates.

U-PROX ID Application

The free mobile application U-PROX ID receives, stores, and transmits mobile credentials between the reader and the smartphone.

How to Obtain Mobile ID

Mobile IDs can be purchased from authorized dealers.

RFID, 125 kHz

The reader supports 125 kHz cards with amplitude modulation (ASK - EmMarine, etc.) and frequency modulation (PSK - Temik, etc.). These cards are popular due to their low cost and do not have cloning protection.

Mifare® Identifiers

The reader supports work with Mifare® cards, reading encrypted identifiers with a user-assigned card number and a static or diversified encryption key. Up to five encryption profiles can be used simultaneously.

Mifare® Classic

This is the least secure series of cards, featuring a Crypto 1 (SL1) encryption algorithm vulnerability. When using Mifare® Classic, it is recommended to encrypt all card sectors with a diversified encryption key.

Mifare® Plus

The reader supports SL1 and SL3 modes for Mifare® Plus. Using SL3 mode is recommended for its higher security and AES encryption algorithm.

Mifare® Defire

The reader supports Mifare DESFire EV1, EV2, and EV3 cards. AES encryption algorithm is supported.

Warranty

Warranty for U-PROX devices (excluding batteries) is valid for two years from the purchase date. If the device operates incorrectly, please contact support@u-prox.systems. Remote troubleshooting may be possible.
