This document provides instructions for the Taurus Atlas 2400 Ceramic and Atlas 2600 Ceramic steam irons.
Product Description
The Taurus Atlas 2400 Ceramic and Atlas 2600 Ceramic are steam irons designed for efficient and effective ironing.
Parts Description
- A Spray button: Used to spray water onto the fabric.
- B Steam blast button: Provides an extra burst of steam for stubborn wrinkles.
- C Steam flow control: Adjusts the amount of steam released.
- D Auto-cleaning button: Initiates the self-cleaning function.
- E Temperature regulator: Sets the desired ironing temperature based on fabric type.
- F Pilot light: Indicates when the iron has reached the set temperature.
- G Filling spout: Opening for filling the water tank.
- H Spray nozzle: Part of the spray system.
- I Soleplate: The heated base of the iron that contacts the fabric.
Safety Precautions and Use
- Read all instructions carefully before use and keep for future reference.
- Do not use the appliance if accessories are defective; replace them immediately.
- Never use the appliance on any part of the body of a person or animal.
- Do not use the appliance with pets or animals.
- Do not use the appliance to dry any type of textiles.
- Turning the thermostat to MIN does not guarantee permanent shut-off.
- Always unroll the power cable completely before each use.
- Remove the protective film before the first use. A light smoke may be detected during the first use due to slight greasing of parts.
Filling with Water
- Ensure the water tank is filled before using the steam function.
- Open the lid of the filling spout.
- Fill the tank up to the MAX level (refer to Fig. 1).
- Close the lid of the filling spout.
Operation
- Unroll the cable completely before plugging in.
- Connect the appliance to the mains; the pilot light (F) will illuminate.
- Turn the thermostat control to the desired temperature position.
- Do not use higher temperatures than indicated for the fabric.
- Temperature Guide:
- ● Temperature for synthetic fibres (Polyester, Nylon...).
- ● ● Temperature for silk, wool.
- ● ● ● Temperature for cotton (minimum for steam ironing).
- Max Temperature for linen.
- If a fabric contains mixed fibres, select the temperature for the fibre requiring the lowest heat.
- Wait for the pilot light (F) to go out, indicating the iron has reached the set temperature. The pilot light will cycle on and off during use to maintain temperature.
Ironing Modes
- Dry Ironing: Set the steam flow regulator (C) to the '0' position for dry ironing.
- Steam Ironing: Possible when the water tank is filled and the correct temperature is selected.
- Steam Flow Control: Use the control knob (C) to regulate steam output.
- Spray: Press button (A) for spraying. Multiple presses may be needed for the first use.
- Steam Blast: Press button (B) for extra steam to remove stubborn wrinkles. Wait a few seconds between bursts; do not exceed three successive blasts for optimal quality.
- Vertical Steaming: Suitable for steaming hanging curtains or clothes on hangers. Select maximum temperature, then move the iron downwards while pressing the steam blast button (B). For cotton and linen, keep the soleplate in contact with the fabric; for delicate fabrics, keep it a few centimetres away.
After Use
- Set the thermostat to MIN.
- Unplug the appliance from the mains.
- Empty the water tank.
Cleaning
- Disconnect the appliance and let it cool before cleaning.
- Clean the exterior with a damp cloth and a little detergent, then dry.
- Do not use solvents, acidic/alkaline products (like bleach), or abrasive cleaners.
- Do not submerge the appliance in water or any other liquid, or place it under a running tap.
Self-Cleaning Function
- Perform at least once a month to remove calcium and mineral deposits.
- Fill the tank to MAX level.
- Place the iron upright, plug it in, and select maximum temperature.
- Let it heat up until the pilot light indicates the temperature is reached.
- Unplug the iron and place it in the sink.
- Press and hold the self-clean button (D).
- Let water drain through the soleplate steam vents while gently shaking the iron.
- Release the button after one minute or when the tank is empty.
- Leave the iron upright until cool.
Dealing with Limescale
- For optimal performance, the iron must be free of limescale or magnesium deposits from hard water.
- Use water with low lime or magnesium content to prevent issues.
- Homemade solutions like vinegar are not recommended for descaling.
