Bumper Removal
- Open tailgate and remove two fixings each side of the boot opening.
- Peel back arch liner to access wheel arch trim clips, then release the trim from the body/bumper and remove the tip screw from each side.
- Remove the four fixings from the bumper lower edge.
- Unplug the wiring looms from the offside corner then release the wiring looms from the body.
- Release the bumper by pulling out sideways then rearwards.
- Remove the rear impact beam, five fixings each side (this is not refitted with the towbar assembly), then replace the fixings to prevent water ingress.
Towbar Installation
- Using Items G with Items J fix Items B to each chassis member.
- Fix Item A to Items B using Items H with Items J.
- Fully tighten all fixings ensuring the Towbar is rigid, square and secure.
- Refit the bumper.
- Fix Item C to Item A using Items E with Items J and Item F with Items J to the correct position (Fig:1) ensuring Item T1 is fitted between the lower mounting point.
- Using Item D fix your desired ball bracket and wiring plate (Not supplied in this kit) to Item C.
- Fully tighten remaining fixings.
Diagram Description (Fig:1)
Figure 1 illustrates the towbar assembly components and their installation points. The main towbar crossbar (Item A) is shown connecting to the vehicle chassis via side arms (Item B). The extension piece (Item C) is depicted attaching to the crossbar, with provisions for a ball bracket and wiring plate. Specific fixings (Items G, H, J, E, F, D, T1) are indicated for each connection. The diagram also shows two possible configurations for the towbar head: one for a 'Fixed Flange & Detachable Swan' neck, and another for a 'Fixed Swan Only' neck, highlighting the mounting points for the ball bracket and wiring plate on the extension piece (Item C).
