Aerial Assembly

Uncoil the aerial wire carefully, avoiding kinks or knots. Insert the wire up through the top chassis aerial mount hole from below. Pull the rubber tube cap off the aerial tube and push the wire all the way through until the first 5mm shows out of the other end. Fold the wire down over the end of the tube and insert the rubber tube cap to trap the protruding wire, holding it firmly. Push the aerial tube into the mounting hole in the upper chassis until firmly seated. Bundle any excess aerial wire neatly away from rotating components.

Charging/Installing the Battery

Always store your model with the battery pack unplugged and removed. Always charge your battery away from the vehicle. The included 300mAh mains charger takes approximately 6 hours to charge a fully discharged battery. Always remove the battery from the charger if it becomes warm to the touch. Always disconnect the charger from the mains supply and the battery pack when not in use. Keep children away from the charger and battery during the charging process.

To install a charged battery: Remove the body clips and the bodyshell. Remove the battery retainer clips, insert the battery, and reinstall the retainer clips with the flat side facing the battery. When connecting the battery and turning the car on, ensure it is off the ground with wheels away from objects.

5. Battery Care

If your transmitter or receiver uses rechargeable Nickel Cadmium or Nickel Hydride batteries, ensure they are fully charged and in good condition before use. Loss of control can result from using part-charged, discharged, or damaged batteries. Always use a dedicated charger for NiCd or NiMH batteries; never attempt to recharge dry cells. If transmitter or receiver batteries show signs of severe overheating, swelling, or leaking during use or charging, disconnect immediately, dispose of properly, and replace.

6. Transmitter Charging

Connect a dedicated transmitter charger to the power supply and then to the charging socket on the rear of the handset. Disconnect when charging is complete. Do not attempt to connect a charger to the transmitter if using dry (alkaline) cells.

Install eight 1.5V (AA size) rechargeable batteries in the transmitter base and refit the bottom cover.

Transmitter Functions

Aerial Positioning

A vertical aerial achieves maximum range. The short 2.4GHz aerial (A) can be folded and rotated to achieve the most vertical position while holding the handset comfortably. The aerial can then be folded away for safe storage. The aerial base also rotates 180 degrees, allowing the aerial to be moved to the most vertical position to maximize range.

Key to Transmitter Features:

Transmitter Operation

The Steering Wheel (B) operates Channel 1. Turning it anti-clockwise steers the model left, and vice versa. If steering is reversed, use the Steering Reverse Switch (H) to the "Rev" position. The Throttle Trigger (C) operates Channel 2. Pulling the trigger towards the handset moves the model forward; pushing it away moves it backward.

When the throttle trigger is at the mid position, the model should remain stationary. If it creeps slightly, adjust the throttle neutral dial accordingly.

When pulled back to the handset, the model should move forward. If not, flick the Throttle Reverse Switch (I) to the "Rev" position.

When pushed away, the model should brake and then move in reverse (if applicable). If not, flick the Throttle Reverse Switch (I) to the "Rev" position.

Beneath the folding Control Panel Cover (D) are adjustments and the Power Switch (P). When the Power Switch (P) is moved to the 'On' position, the RED LED (J) lights up, along with the Green LED (K), indicating good battery condition.

If transmitter batteries are weak (voltage drops below 9V DC), the green LED flashes to alert you to potential range limitations and possible loss of control. New batteries or a recharge are advisable.

If the model does not track straight, adjust the Steering Trim Dial (M). If the model creeps forward or doesn't sit at neutral, adjust the Throttle Trim Dial (N).

The Steering Dual Rate Dial (O) controls the total steering amount. If the servo strains against steering end stops, turn it down (clockwise) until maximum steering lock is achieved. If the vehicle exhibits excessive steering or overreacts at high speed, turn the Steering Dual Rate Dial down further for better controllability, but not so much that tight corners cannot be negotiated. If the servo is connected correctly but the model does not steer, double-check the Steering Dual Rate Dial is not at Zero before checking for other faults.

Receiver Specification

Receiver Installation

The receiver should be securely mounted flat and level in your model, preferably within the receiver box for protection from moisture and dust. When routing the aerial, keep it as far as possible from electronic devices and metal work. Ensure at least the last half of the aerial wire is in a vertical aerial tube to maximize control and range.

For Nitro or Petrol powered models, connect the receiver battery (observing correct polarity) to the socket marked "VCC" or via a suitable power switch.

Electric vehicles with an ESC should power the radio via the BEC when plugged into channel 2. Receiver power is usually controlled by the ESC switch. The third channel is not used on this transmitter; the third (bind) socket can be used to power a cooling fan or Personal Transponder (PT).

Matching the Receiver to the Transmitter (Binding)

To ensure only one transmitter controls the receiver, they must be matched ("Bound") to recognize each other's signature code. Insert the 'Bind' plug (included with the receiver) into the third channel (Bind socket) before supplying power to the receiver for the first time. The receiver's red LED will blink, indicating the bind process has begun. Hold down the transmitter's bind button (L) before switching it on. The transmitter's green LED (K) will blink, and the receiver's red LED will stop flashing and turn solid red, indicating successful binding. Before operating, switch off both receiver and transmitter, and remove the bind plug for safekeeping. Then, switch on the transmitter first, followed by the receiver; the model should respond normally. If the receiver's red LED does not turn solid when powered up with the transmitter on, binding has failed, and the process must be repeated. If this is the first radio setup in your model, adjust steering and throttle neutral positions for proper control, and set the throttle failsafe position before your first run.

Receiver Failsafe Operation

This Etronix receiver has a digital failsafe system. If the model goes beyond usable range or the signal is interrupted, the failsafe will automatically set the throttle (channel 2) to a preset position, provided power is still supplied. Set up the failsafe before first use: turn on the transmitter, then supply power to the receiver. Use the pointer (supplied on the bind plug) to hold down the failsafe button on the receiver for three seconds until the red LED flashes several times, indicating successful failsafe setting. The throttle servo will then reposition to the failsafe set point (typically neutral throttle), causing the vehicle to stop safely if the signal is lost. Note: If the receiver is re-matched to the transmitter, the failsafe position is lost and must be reset.

Thank you for choosing Etronix. Used properly and following this manual, the Pulse EX2 Sport offers strong connection, crystal-free 2.4GHz technology for exceptional control and interference-free operation.

Getting Started

Switch on the transmitter. Hold the vehicle clear of the ground, connect the battery pack, and switch on the receiver. Bind the transmitter and receiver if required. Test transmitter control with the vehicle's wheels off the ground. Start driving slowly. If the vehicle does not go straight, adjust the steering trim dial on the transmitter. For the first run, use the throttle gently to bed in the motor brushes and help the driver become accustomed to the vehicle's behaviour and controls.

PLEASE NOTE: ⚠️ Although the electronics are waterproof, the rest of the car can be damaged if run in excessively wet or submerged conditions.

After Run

Switch off the receiver power, then the transmitter, and lower the aerial. Disconnect the battery and remove it from the vehicle. Allow it to cool before recharging. If you have a second charged battery ready, still allow the vehicle to cool slightly before continuing.
