Safety Precautions and Warnings
WARNING: Read the entire instruction manual before operating. Incorrect operation can result in product damage, personal property damage, or serious injury. This is not a toy and requires caution and common sense. Adult supervision is recommended for users under 14 years old.
Key Safety Guidelines:
- Operate responsibly to avoid endangering yourself, others, or property.
- Maintain a safe distance from others due to potential radio interference causing momentary loss of control.
- Age Recommendation: 14 years or over.
- Never operate with low transmitter batteries.
- Always operate in an open area away from traffic and people.
- Keep the vehicle in direct line of sight.
- Keep chemicals, small parts, and electrical items out of reach of children.
- The car and electronics are splash-proof but not designed for extended moisture exposure or submersion, which will cause permanent damage.
- Avoid injury from high-speed rotating parts.
- Seek advice from experienced users for correct operation and performance.
- Exercise caution with tools and sharp instruments.
- Keep fingers and objects away from rotating/moving parts.
- Take care during repairs as some parts may be sharp.
- Do not touch hot components like the motor, ESC, or battery immediately after use.
- Always turn on the transmitter before the receiver in the car, and turn off the receiver before the transmitter.
- Keep wheels off the ground and hands away from wheels when checking radio equipment.
- Prevent motor overheating by avoiding frequent tight turns, rapid direction changes, continuous stop/starts, pushing objects, driving in deep sand/tall grass, or driving uphill continuously.

Battery Charging and Installation (Brushless Edition)
IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE FOR LiPo BATTERIES: Always charge LiPo batteries in a LiPo sack or metal tin away from flammable materials. Always monitor charge status and store models with the battery unplugged and removed.
The included 900mAh mains LiPo balance charger takes up to 4 hours to recharge the battery. Ensure the LiPo battery is placed inside a Voltz Vault safety LiPo sack before charging. LiPo batteries require specific charging and handling procedures different from NiCd and NiMH batteries. Misuse can lead to fire, personal injury, or property damage. The user assumes all liability and risk associated with LiPo battery use.
WARNING: NEVER leave the battery unattended while charging.
Charging Procedure:
- The charger supports 2S or 3S LiPo batteries. Ensure the correct port is used for the supplied 3S battery.
- Charger LEDs: Green (power connected), Red (charging in progress), Green (fully charged). Blinking red indicates an error.
- The charger may become hot during charging.
- Always disconnect the charger from mains and battery when not in use.
Battery Installation:
- Remove bodyshell clips and bodyshell.
- Loosen velcro straps, insert the charged battery, and tighten straps securely within the battery box.
- Ensure the model is switched off before connecting battery connectors.
- Always store the model with the battery pack unplugged and removed. Charge the battery away from the vehicle.
Notes on Battery Use:
- Allow the battery to cool after use before recharging.
- Inspect the battery before charging for damaged wires, split heat shrink, or leakage. Do not charge damaged batteries.
- Do not disassemble the battery or cut connector wires.
- If battery connectors, case, or cable insulation become hot enough to melt or split, there is a serious problem with the model's driveline, wiring, or speed controller. Address the issue before installing another battery.
LiPo Battery User Safety and Handling Instructions:
- Read all safety instructions before first use.
- Use only Lithium Polymer specific chargers.
- NEVER charge unattended. Charge inside a safety sack or metal tin away from flammable materials.
- Watch for swollen or ballooning cells during charging; if observed, disconnect immediately and move to a fireproof place for 15 minutes. Do not attempt to charge again.
- Avoid short circuits.
- Any LiPo battery involved in a crash should be removed and observed in a fireproof space for 15 minutes before reuse or charging.
- When rewiring, do so one lead at a time to avoid short circuits.
- Do not expose battery packs to direct sunlight for extended periods.
- Do not tamper with or open the LiPo Hardcase.
- Before charging: Visually inspect for damaged leads, connectors, cracked heat shrink, swelling, or other abnormalities. Do not charge if damaged.
- Charging process: Never charge unattended, charge away from flammables inside a safety sack/tin, allow battery to cool, set charger cell count/voltage according to battery label, do not exceed 2C MAX charge rate.
Disposal of LiPo Battery: Submerge the battery in salt water (approx. 10 litres water, 1 cup salt) for 2 weeks to safely discharge it to zero volts before disposing of it in general waste collection.
Operation and Maintenance
After Run: Switch off receiver power, then transmitter. Disconnect and remove the battery from the vehicle, allowing it to cool before recharging. If using a second battery, allow the vehicle to cool slightly before continuing.
Regular Maintenance:
- Frequently check the vehicle for loose or missing fixings. Use thread lock on screws into metal threads.
- Keep rotating parts free from grass, string, or debris that could bind their motion and stress the motor or speed controller.
- Remove wheels occasionally to check behind the mounting hex for obstructions or wrapped debris.
- Check gear mesh frequently and remove stones or grit from gear teeth to prevent wear and damage.
- If the motor moves or is removed, re-set the gear mesh by slackening motor screws and adjusting until there is slight backlash between pinion and spur teeth. Incorrect mesh causes noise and damage.
- Shock absorbers may wear prematurely in dirty/dusty conditions. Replace oil and seals as needed for smooth dampening.
Troubleshooting Guide
- Short Runtime: Battery damaged/not charged, motor dirty or brushes worn, drivetrain binding.
- Sluggish Action: Motor dirty or brushes worn, bind in drivetrain, battery running low.
- Motor/ESC Overheat: Over-geared, binding transmission, seized axle bearing, motor binding.
- Motor Spins but Vehicle Refuses to Move: Gears damaged, gears loose on shaft, slipper clutch too loose, drive shaft broken or missing.
- Poor Range or Fails to Operate: Transmitter batteries low, vehicle battery low, transmitter switched off, transmitter/receiver aerial not extended, ESC switched off or battery not connected, loose connectors/wires, water damage (model electronics are not fully waterproof).
