Technical specifications of the particular model are indicated on the unit casing.
Design and Operating Principle
The fan unit casing is made of galvanized steel with heat- and sound-insulation. It features a removable bottom cover for easy installation and maintenance. The round connecting spigots are rubber sealed. Inside, there are two mixed-type duct fans with energy-efficient motors featuring built-in controls and low-noise ball bearings for maintenance-free operation. One fan runs continuously, with the second acting as a backup. Fans can be switched alternately based on control automation algorithms, ensuring uninterrupted ventilation. If one fan fails, the second automatically switches on. Switching modes requires a controller (ordered separately). A swivel damper is installed inside the casing to prevent air backflow through a non-functioning fan. When a fan is running, the damper opens due to airflow and closes the duct of the inoperative fan.
Main design elements:
- 1 - swivel damper
- 2 - duct fan
- 3 - fan terminal boxes
- 4 - mounting brackets
- 5 - removable service panel
- 6 - inlet and outlet spigots
- 7 - cable glands on the unit casing
- 8 - safety cables to prevent the service panel from falling
Mounting and Set-up
Before mounting: Ensure the casing contains no foreign objects (e.g., foil, paper). While installing: Ensure convenient access for subsequent maintenance and repair.
Duct fans are designed for round air ducts and are installed in the gap between them. Installation is only possible in the horizontal position, following the direction of air flow indicated by an arrow on the casing.
Models TwinBox EC 150, 200, 250 are mounted at 4 points using brackets. Models TwinBox EC 315, 355, 400 have 6 mounting brackets.
It is recommended to use anchor threaded rods with nuts for fixing the fan unit to the ceiling. Fasteners are not included and should be ordered separately, considering the mounting surface material and fan weight. Fasteners should be selected by a service technician.
Safety cables on removable service panels can be moved to the opposite side of the casing for convenience, depending on the installation location.
Diagram showing mounting with threaded rod, washer, nuts, and vibration-absorbing insert.
Caution! To achieve optimal performance and minimize turbulence-induced air pressure losses, connect straight air duct sections to both spigots. Minimum straight air duct length: equal to 1 air duct diameter on intake and 3 air duct diameters on outlet.
If air ducts are short or not connected, protect unit parts from foreign objects. To prevent uncontrollable access to the fan, spigots may be covered with a protecting grille or device with mesh width not more than 12.5 mm.
Connection to Power Mains
WARNING: Disconnect the power supply before any operations. Connection is allowed by a qualified electrician with a work permit for electric units up to 1000 V after careful reading of this manual. Rated electrical parameters are on the manufacturer's label.
WARNING: Any tampering with internal connections is prohibited and will void the warranty.
The sound-insulated fan unit must be integrated into a ventilation system with automatic control. Connect to single-phase power mains as specified in the "Technical data" section. Use durable, insulated, and heat-resistant conductors. Wire cross-section selection must be based on maximum load current, conductor temperature, wire type, insulation, length, and installation method.
The external power input must have an automatic circuit breaker in the stationary wiring to open the circuit in case of overload or short-circuit. The circuit breaker's trip current must exceed the unit's maximum current consumption. The circuit breaker is not included and can be ordered separately.
Route power and control cables through cable glands on the casing. Route cables inside the casing to terminal boxes and secure with cable ties. Connect motor terminals according to the electrical mains wiring diagram using durable insulated cable. Terminal blocks for power and control cables are inside the terminal box on each motor casing.

Technical Maintenance
WARNING: Disconnect the unit from power supply before any maintenance. Ensure the unit is disconnected from power mains before removing protection. Place a "DO NOT SWITCH ON! MEN AT WORK!" sign before commencing maintenance. Avoid liquid spills on the motor; do not use aggressive solvents or sharp objects for cleaning.
Clean product surfaces and impellers regularly (every 6 months) from dust and dirt. Use a soft brush, cloth, vacuum cleaner, or compressed air. Do not use water, aggressive solvents, or sharp objects, as they may damage the impeller. Do not remove or change the location of impeller balancers. Ensure no visible defects exist and that mounting brackets are securely fastened.
