Cooke & Lewis CLGOGFSRP4 4-Burner Gas Hob
Installation and User Manual
Important Safety Information
IMPORTANT: Please read the separate safety guide carefully before using the product.
ATTENTION:
- The connection of the hob to the gas supply or gas cylinder must be made using a rigid copper or steel pipe with fittings that comply with local regulations. These fittings are NOT supplied.
- This operation MUST be carried out by a QUALIFIED GAS INSTALLER.
- Using a gas cooking appliance produces heat and humidity in the area where it is installed. Ensure the area is well-ventilated, keeping natural ventilation openings clear and using an extractor hood.
- Prolonged or intensive use may require additional ventilation, such as opening a window.
- This appliance is designed only for flat-bottomed pots and pans.
- This appliance is for preparing food and drinks only and must not be used as a heat source. Doing so may cause carbon monoxide poisoning and overheating of the hob.
Gas Supply Requirements
This hob is supplied pre-installed with gas injectors (G20: 20 mbar) suitable for natural gas. For use with other gases, consult the injector table in these instructions. Note: any change of injectors MUST be carried out exclusively by a qualified gas installer.
After installation, ensure gas-tight seals around all injectors using foam. Press each injector with your finger to close the gas outlet and check for bubbles at the injector connection points.
Before installation, ensure local gas supply and pressure are compatible with this appliance.
Ventilation
The appliance must not be connected to a combustion product evacuation device. It must be connected and installed in accordance with local installation regulations, paying particular attention to ventilation requirements.
What to do if you smell gas?
- Do not attempt to light any appliance.
- Do not touch any electrical switch.
- Do not use any telephone in the building.
- Immediately call your gas supplier from another property.
Installation Instructions
01: Ventilation Requirements
Adequate ventilation is necessary around the appliance to facilitate heat dispersion and ensure low energy consumption. Sufficient space must be left around the appliance as shown in the diagrams. The space between the hob and any cupboard or extractor hood above it must be at least 760 mm.
02: Cutting the Worktop
Cut an opening in the worktop using a jigsaw as shown. The worktop must be at least 30 mm thick and made of a heat-resistant material.
03: Sealing the Edge
Seal the cut edge of the worktop with silicone sealant or PVA adhesive. IMPORTANT: Ensure the product is completely dry according to the manufacturer's instructions before installing the hob. This hob must NOT be sealed or glued into the worktop.
04: Applying the Seal
Stretch the supplied sealing gasket along the lower edge of the hob, ensuring the ends overlap.
05: Positioning the Hob
Once the worktop edge is dry and the gasket is installed, position the hob in the cut-out.
06: Securing the Hob
Fix the hob to the worktop by attaching the supports as shown.
Gas Connection
The gas connection MUST be carried out by a QUALIFIED GAS INSTALLER.
The connection to the gas supply or cylinder must be made using rigid copper or steel pipes with locally compliant fittings. The hob comes with a pre-fitted elbow connector with a 1/2" BSP external thread. Ensure the connection matches this thread; use an adapter if necessary.
The installer must ensure the burners function correctly before use.
Adjusting to a Different Gas Type
Replacement of gas injectors must be done by a qualified gas installer. Additional injectors are supplied for conversion to LPG, butane, and propane. Details are in the injector table. These injectors require a specific tool, not supplied.
Burner Adjustment
Burner adjustment for methane and town gas can be performed by the user. For GPL, the screw must be fully tightened clockwise. The minimum burner setting MUST be adjusted by a qualified gas engineer.
Procedure for setting the Minimum flame:
- Light the burner and turn the knob to the MINIMUM position (small flame).
- Remove the burner knob and turn the adjustment screw left or right until the flame is stable at the MINIMUM setting.
- Ensure the flame does not extinguish when quickly changing from MAXIMUM to MINIMUM.
Electrical Connection
All installation work must be carried out by a qualified electrician. Ensure the mains voltage matches the rating plate voltage before connecting the power cable.
The appliance must be connected directly to the mains via a double-pole circuit breaker with a minimum contact opening of 3 mm.
The installer must ensure correct electrical connections are made according to the wiring diagram. The cable must not be bent or compressed.
Regularly check the power cord for damage. If damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, service agent, or a similarly qualified person.
WARNING: This is a Class I appliance and MUST be earthed.
The appliance has a 3-core cable: Brown = Live (L), Blue = Neutral (N), Green/Yellow = Earth (E).
This appliance requires a 3A miniature circuit breaker.
For safety, ensure correct installation and read all safety instructions carefully to prevent misuse and hazards. Keep this manual for future reference.
Operation and Settings
Burner Safety Device (FSD): Cuts off gas supply when the flame extinguishes.
Auto-ignition.
Burner Operation:
- Push and turn the control knob to the spark zone until the gas ignites.
- Reduce the gas level as needed for cooking.
- If the gas does not ignite on the first attempt, try again.
ATTENTION:
- If there is no electrical power, burners can be lit using a spark lighter.
- Burners can only be lit with safety thermocouples when the knob is in the MAXIMUM position.
- Do not use cookware that extends beyond the edges of the pan supports.
