- Ensure the correct fuse model and rating is used before powering on.
- To prevent fire hazards, replace fuses only with the specified type and rating.
- Disconnect the power cord before replacing the fuse to avoid electric shock.
- Determine the cause of a blown fuse before replacing it.
Control Commands
Command Syntax
Command format: [Command]<X>:<Parameter>
Where:
[Command]
: The command name (e.g., ISET, VSET).<X>
: Output channel (1 for CH1, 2 for CH2).:
: Separator.<Parameter>
: The value for the command.
Parameter types:
<Boolean>
: 0 (Off) or 1 (On).<NR1>
: Integer.<NR2>
: Floating-point number (e.g., 0.1, 3.14, 8.5).
Note: All commands should be entered in uppercase.
Command Details
- BEEP [beep]: Enable or disable the buzzer. Example:
BEEP1
to turn on the buzzer. - OUT [output]: Enable or disable the output. Example:
OUT1
to enable output for CH1. - STATUS? [status]: Read the operating status of the unit. The status is returned as an 8-bit value.
- *IDN? [identify]: Request identification information. Example:
*IDN?
will return the model and software version (e.g., KD3005P, VXX).
Setting Voltage and Current
- ISET<X>:<NR2>: Set the output current for channel X. Example:
ISET1: 2.23
sets the current for CH1 to 2.23A. - ISET<X>?: Read back the set current value for channel X. Example:
ISET1?
returns the set current for CH1. - VSET<X>:<NR2>: Set the output voltage for channel X. Example:
VSET1:20.34
sets the voltage for CH1 to 20.34V. - VSET<X>?: Read back the set voltage value for channel X. Example:
VSET1?
returns the set voltage for CH1.
Reading Output Status
- IOUT<X>?: Read the actual output current for channel X. Example:
IOUT1?
returns the actual output current for CH1. - VOUT<X>?: Read the actual output voltage for channel X. Example:
VOUT1?
returns the actual output voltage for CH1.
STATUS? Bit Definitions
Bit | Content | Description |
---|---|---|
0 | CH1 | 0=CC mode, 1=CV mode |
1 | CH2 | 0=CC mode, 1=CV mode |
2,3 | Tracking | 01=Independent, 11=Series, 10=Parallel |
4 | Beep | 0=Off, 1=On |
5 | OCP | 0=OCP Off, 1=OCP On |
6 | Output | 0=Off, 1=On |
7 | OVP | 0=OVP Off, 1=OVP On |
Remote Control and Interfaces
COM Settings (for KD3005P & KD6005P)
Configure PC COM port settings as follows:
- Baud Rate: 9600
- Parity: None
- Data Bits: 8
- Stop Bits: 1
- Flow Control: None
RS232 Interface Definition
The KD3005P DC Power Supply features an RS232 interface for remote control. The connection to a PC typically uses a standard serial cable with the following pin mapping:
- Power Supply Pin 2 (RX) connects to PC Pin 2 (TX)
- Power Supply Pin 3 (TX) connects to PC Pin 3 (RX)
- Power Supply Pin 5 (GND) connects to PC Pin 5 (GND)
Function Detection
To query the device's identification information (model and software version), send the command *IDN?
. For example, the response might be KD3005PVx.xx
.
Front Panel Operation
Status Indicators
- OCP [overcurrent-protection]: Indicates Overcurrent Protection status.
- C.C [constant-current]: Indicates Constant Current mode.
- C.V [constant-voltage]: Indicates Constant Voltage mode.
- LOCK [lock]: Indicates the panel lock function is active.
Knob Operation Instructions
Voltage Knob [voltage]
Press the voltage knob to make the voltage display flash. Adjust the knob to change the output voltage. Press the knob again to switch between coarse and fine adjustment steps. Press and hold the voltage knob for 3 seconds to activate the panel lock function (the LOCK indicator will light up). Press and hold for another 3 seconds to disable the lock.
Current Knob [current]
Press the current knob to make the current display flash. Adjust the knob to change the output current. Press the knob again to switch between coarse and fine adjustment steps. Press and hold the current knob for 2 seconds to enable Overcurrent Protection (OCP) (the OCP indicator will light up). If the load current exceeds the set limit, the output will shut down. Release the load and press the current knob again to resume output. Press and hold for 2 seconds again to disable OCP.
Remote Control Knob Behavior (KD3005P & KD6005P)
For models with remote control interfaces (KD3005P & KD6005P), when the panel is locked, the power output is disabled. The CURRENT knob then functions as an output switch (ON/OFF). Pressing the CURRENT knob toggles the power output on or off. Pressing both the Voltage and Current knobs simultaneously for 1 second will change the adjustment mode: either direct knob adjustment for voltage/current or the knob acting as an ON/OFF switch.
Power On
Press the [power] button to turn on the power supply. The display will initialize and show the parameters set during the last shutdown.
Specifications
Specifications are measured after 20 minutes of warm-up at an ambient temperature of 25℃ ± 5℃.
