Honeywell IMPACT Wireless Smoke Detector FDC-100

Installation and Maintenance Instructions

Product Overview

This battery-operated smoke detector is a smart plug-and-play product with photoelectric sensing technology that detects smoke at an early stage. If the smoke concentration level reaches the alarm threshold in the detector's smoke chamber, it sets off an alarm by flashing the LED. The inbuilt buzzer is activated, providing an audio and visual indication to all occupants. The detector raises a local alarm and quickly uses the unified IMPACT Honeywell mobile app to send incoming call alerts to your mobile, wherever you are. Keep your premises safe from fire hazards with real-time proactive alerts from the wireless smoke detector.

Smoke Alarm Limitations

  • The manual is subject to amendment by the company.
  • The alarm may not detect fires if smoke concentration doesn't reach the threshold or if smoke sources are distant (e.g., from other rooms, chimneys). Install alarms in each room for best coverage.
  • Smoke alarms may not warn about fires caused by carelessness (smoking in bed), explosions, escaping gas, improper storage of flammables, overloaded circuits, or arson.
  • Like all electronics, smoke alarms have limitations; one type cannot sense all fire types.
  • This alarm requires batteries to function and has limited service life.

FAQ's

  • How many smoke alarms should I have? Depends on premises architecture and size. Install in every bedroom, outside sleeping areas, and on every level. Place at least 20 feet from combustion appliances and 10 feet from humidity-prone areas to reduce nuisance alarms.
  • When should I test my smoke detectors? At least once every 2-3 months by pressing the test button.
  • How do I test my smoke alarm? Press the test button once. Listen for a loud piercing sound and check for mobile notification if online. If weak, change batteries; if that fails, replace the unit.
  • When should I replace the batteries? Upon receiving a low battery notification on the device or app, or if the device is unresponsive.
  • Why is my smoke alarm beeping without fire/smoke, and how to stop it? Possible causes: residual smoke, dust/fiber in the chamber, or a loose smoke chamber. Clean the chamber for dust/smoke issues.
  • Can I interconnect my smoke detector? No, this is a standalone unit.
