Installation Diagram and Steps
Outdoor Doorbell Installation:
- Mount the outdoor doorbell at a height of 1.4 to 1.7 meters, avoiding direct sunlight and rain.
- Secure the doorbell to the wall, wooden board, or door using screws or tape. It can also be mounted on an 86-type junction box.
- Drill holes for the Cat5e cable. Use anchors if mounting on brick or concrete.
- Attach the rain cover to the wall using screws.
- Route the Cat5e cable through the wall opening and connect it to the doorbell.
- Fix the rain cover onto the doorbell and secure it with bottom screws.
Indoor Monitor Installation:
- Fix the hanging plate to the wall using screws.
- Insert a MicroSD card into the indoor monitor's TF card slot.
- Connect the Cat5e cable to the indoor monitor.
- Connect the power supply (12V~15V) if using a single outdoor doorbell and monitor setup.
- Hang the indoor monitor onto the hanging plate.
Network Connection:
- Connect the Cat5e cable from the outdoor doorbell to the indoor monitor.
- For POE connections, connect the cable to a POE switch or via a POE injector connected to a router.
- Maximum cable lengths are recommended: 80 meters for standard Cat5e, 100 meters for POE connections, and up to 120-150 meters with POE switches.
- Ensure cameras are configured with appropriate IP addresses (e.g., 192.168.250.101-240) and gateway (192.168.250.1) before installation if required.
RFID Card Settings
The system supports RFID cards for access control. Default cards include 1 admin add card, 1 admin delete card, and 5 user cards (125KHz).
- Set Admin Card: Enable ID card setting, swipe a card to set as admin add card, swipe a second card to set as admin delete card, then exit setting mode.
- Add User Card: Swipe the admin add card, then swipe the user card to add it. Swipe the admin add card again to finish.
- Delete User Card: Swipe the admin delete card, then swipe the user card to delete it. Swipe the admin delete card again to finish.
- Delete All User Cards: Swipe admin add card, then admin delete card, then admin add card again.
Unlock Settings
The system supports connecting electric locks or magnetic locks.
- Wiring Diagram: Connect the lock to the COM, NC (Normally Closed) or NO (Normally Open) terminals on the outdoor doorbell or an optional unlock controller, along with 12V power and GND.
- Unlock Controller: An optional unlock controller can be used for magnetic locks.
Device Pairing
Pair Unlock Control with Smart Doorbell: Press the 'pair' button on the unlock control, then press the 'Unlock' icon on the app. Follow on-screen prompts to complete pairing.
Pair Remote Control with Unlock Control: Press the 'pair' button on the unlock control, then press the 'unlock' button on the remote control. Follow on-screen prompts to complete pairing.
Clear Pairing: Press and hold the 'pair' button on the unlock control for over 3 seconds.
System Connection Details
The Cat5e/Cat6 cable connects the doorbell and indoor monitor. Different connection methods are available:
- Way 1 (Direct Power): Indoor monitor powered by 12~15V adapter, Cat5e cable connects doorbell to monitor (up to 80m).
- Way 2 (POE Injector/Switch): Connect to router via POE injector or POE switch. Supports up to 100m with POE.
- Way 3 (48V POE Switch): Supports up to 4 outdoor doorbells, 4 cameras, 6 indoor monitors, with cable lengths up to 150m.
- Way 4 (Non-standard 12V/15V POE Switch): Supports up to 120m cable length.
Note: When connecting cameras, ensure they are configured with the correct IP address (e.g., 192.168.250.101-240) and gateway (192.168.250.1) via a PC before installation.
Indoor Monitor Operation
Access settings via the 'Settings' icon (⚙️).
1. System Settings:
- Device ID: Set sequentially for master (1) and slave monitors (2-6).
- Language: Select display language.
- Date/Time: Set current date and time.
- Factory Settings: Restore default configurations.
- Software Update: Update system firmware.
- SD Card: Check status and format.
- Software Version: View current version.
2. Door Settings:
- Door ID: Assign an ID to the door.
- Unlock Delay: Set the duration for the unlock pulse (e.g., 2S).
- Message: Configure message recording settings.
- Motion Detection: Enable/disable and set sensitivity (Low/Medium/High/Off).
- MD Preview Switch: Enable/disable preview for motion detection.
- Ring Select: Choose from 10 ringtones.
- Ring Volume: Adjust volume (0-9).
- Ringback: Enable/disable ringback tone.
3. Camera Settings:
Connect and configure network cameras (Hikvision, Dahua, other brands).
- Connecting Hikvision Cameras: Use SADP tool to activate the camera, set IP address (192.168.250.101-240) and gateway (192.168.250.1), set resolution (1920*1080P), video encoding (H.264), enable ONVIF, and add a username/password.
- Connecting Other Network Cameras: Set IP address and gateway. Log in via IE to set resolution (1920*1080P) and video encoding (H.264/H.265X). Default password may be 123456.
- Connecting Dahua Cameras: Use ConfigTool to initialize the device, set a password, search settings, set IP address (192.168.250.101-240) and gateway (192.168.250.1), set resolution (1920*1080P), and video encoding (H.264).
- Adding Cameras to Monitor: After camera setup, search for cameras on the indoor monitor, select the camera, enter username and password, and click login. A green dot (?) indicates a successful connection.
4. Network Settings:
Configure the master indoor monitor's network connection (2.4G WiFi only).
- EZ Mode: Connect to WiFi, then follow app prompts to pair.
- AP Mode: Connect to the monitor's generated WiFi hotspot (SmartLife-XXXXXX, password 12345678), then follow app prompts.
5. Monitoring & Intercom:
- Click 'Monitoring' or the call button on the outdoor doorbell.
- Controls include: Monitor next doorbell, Take photo (?), Video (?), Unlock (?), Talk (?️), Hang up, Zoom in/out, Adjust volume.
- A visitor icon (?) appears when someone calls. Calls can be transferred between indoor monitors.
6. Working Modes:
- At home: Monitor rings, APP receives call/push. If unanswered, doorbell prompts to leave a message.
- Not at home: Visitor prompted to leave a message, APP receives push.
- Dormant: No ringtones or prompts on devices; APP receives the call.
App Integration (Tuya Smart / Smart Life)
1. App Download:
Search for "Tuya Smart" or "Smart Life" in the App Store or Google Play, or scan the QR code.
2. App Register & Login:
- Register a new account or log in.
- Create a home in "Home Management" to add devices. The user adding the device becomes the owner.
- Up to 20 administrators or home members can be added. Shared users may not have unlock functionality.
- Devices must be removed from the original account before binding to a new one.
3. Adding Master Indoor Monitor to App:
Only the master indoor monitor can be added to the app.
- EZ Mode: Select "EZ Mode" in Network Settings. In the app, click '+', select "Add Manually" -> "Security & Video Surveillance" -> "Smart Doorbell", choose "EZ mode", confirm network configuration, select 2.4GHz WiFi, enter password, and wait for pairing.
- AP Mode: Select "AP Mode" in Network Settings. The monitor will restart and display a hotspot "SmartLife-XXXXXX" (password: 12345678). In the app, select "AP Mode", check the box, click "Next", connect to the "SmartLife-XXXXXX" hotspot, then return to the app to complete pairing.
4. Motion Detection and Call Push:
Receive push notifications on your mobile phone for motion detection (? [Motion Detected]) or when someone rings the doorbell (? [Visitor Alert]). Access alarm messages or live video from notifications.
5. Live Video:
Click on the device in the app homepage to view live video. Controls include taking photos (?), talking (?️), video recording (?), unlocking (?), playback (▶️), and viewing albums (?️).
Device Settings within App:
- Modify icon, name, location.
- View IP address, ID, time zone.
- Configure device automation, doorbell button light, screen mirroring (?).
- Manage motion detection (enable/disable, sensitivity ?, time period ⏰).
- Check and format memory card (??).
- View alarm list (?).
- Share device access with other users (?).
- Remove device (?️).
Help and Service
Access "Service and Help" via the "Me" (?) tab in the app for:
