Safety Rules
- Before installation, shut off power at the circuit breaker or fuse box.
- Read all instructions and safety information carefully. Review assembly diagrams.
- Ensure all electrical connections comply with local codes, ordinances, or National Electrical Codes (ANSI/NFPA 70). Consult a qualified electrician if you are unfamiliar with electrical wiring.
- Choose an installation site that allows fan blades to rotate without obstructions. Maintain a minimum clearance of 7 feet from the floor and 18 inches from the top of the blades to the wall.
- If mounting to a ceiling fan outlet box, use a U.L. Listed metal octagonal outlet box marked "Acceptable For Fan Support." Secure the box directly to the building structure. The outlet box and its support must be able to support the fan's moving weight (at least 50 pounds). Do not use a plastic box.
- Use only the screws provided with the outlet box and the lock washers provided with the fan.
- If mounting to a joist, ensure it can support the fan's moving weight (at least 50 pounds).
- After installation, verify all mounting components are secured to prevent the fan from falling.
- Do not insert anything into the fan blades while the fan is operating.
- Turn the fan off and wait for the blades to stop completely before performing any maintenance or cleaning.
NOTE: The safeguards and instructions in this manual are not exhaustive. Common sense, caution, and care are essential factors supplied by the installer and operator.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or personal injury, mount the fan only to a U.L. Listed outlet box or supporting system marked "Acceptable For Fan Support." Use mounting screws provided with the outlet box in conjunction with lock washers provided with the fan. Most outlet boxes commonly used for lighting fixtures are not acceptable for fan support and may need replacement. Consult a qualified electrician if in doubt.

Operating Your Fan
Restore power to the ceiling fan and test for proper operation.
The fan's 4-speed control operates as follows:
- - Turns the fan off
- 1 = High Speed
- 2 = Medium High Speed
- 3 = Medium Speed
- 4 = Low Speed
Speed settings for warm or cool weather depend on factors such as room size, ceiling height, and the number of fans.
The Reverse switch is located on the switch cup. Slide the switch to the left for warm weather operation (forward airflow). Slide the switch to the right for cool weather operation (reverse airflow).
NOTE: Wait for the fan to stop before changing the setting of the slide switch.
Warm Weather (Forward Airflow): A downward airflow creates a cooling effect (Fig. 16), allowing you to set your air conditioner on a warmer setting without affecting comfort.
Cool Weather (Reverse Airflow): An upward airflow moves warmer air off the ceiling (Fig. 17), allowing you to set your heating unit on a cooler setting without affecting comfort.
Diagram Description (Fig. 16): Illustrates summer operation with counter-clockwise fan rotation and downward airflow for cooling.
Diagram Description (Fig. 17): Illustrates winter operation with clockwise fan rotation and upward airflow to circulate warm air.
Care of Your Fan
Here are some suggestions to help maintain your fan:
- Because of the fan's natural movement, some connections may become loose. Check support connections, brackets, and blade attachments twice a year to ensure they are secure. (It is not necessary to remove the fan from the ceiling).
- Clean your fan periodically to maintain its appearance. Use only a soft brush or lint-free cloth to avoid scratching the finish. Plated finishes are sealed with lacquer to minimize discoloration or tarnishing. Do not use water when cleaning, as this could damage the motor, wood blades, or cause an electrical shock.
- Use a lint-free, lightly damp cloth or duster to remove dust from the blades.
- The motor has permanently lubricated bearings; no oiling is needed.
- If your fan is provided with glass shades, clean them with lukewarm soapy water and a soft cloth or sponge. DO NOT IMMERSE GLASS SHADES IN HOT WATER. DO NOT PUT GLASS SHADES INTO AN AUTOMATIC DISHWASHER.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THE POWER IS OFF AT THE ELECTRICAL PANEL BOX BEFORE YOU ATTEMPT ANY REPAIRS. REFER TO THE "ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS" SECTION.
