Phocos Any-Grid™ Series: Setup Guide for Hubble Lithium Batteries
This guide outlines the recommended settings and communication setup for operating Phocos Any-Grid™ PSW-H hybrid inverter chargers with Hubble lithium battery models: AM-2, AM-4, X-100, and X-101.
Introduction
This guide details the setup and communication procedures for Phocos Any-Grid™ PSW-H hybrid inverter chargers when used with Hubble AM-2, X-100, and X-101 battery units. The PSW-H-3KW-230/24V and PSW-H-3KW-120/24V models are compatible with Hubble AM-4 battery units. All connected batteries must be of the same model. Charge/discharge settings are automatically negotiated with the battery. Installation must follow the Any-Grid PSW-H “User and Installation Manual” and the Hubble installation manual. Installation should be performed by a trained professional.
WARNING: Read and respect all warnings in the installation manuals for the Any-Grid, battery units, and any other connected equipment.
Requirements
To proceed with this guide, the following are required:
- 48 Vdc Battery: Any-Grid PSW-H-5KW-230/48V, PSW-H-5KW-120/48V, or PSW-H-6.5KW-120/48V
- 24 Vdc Battery: Any-Grid PSW-H-3KW-230/24V and PSW-H-3KW-120/24V
- Hubble Cloudlink device
- Hubble Cloudlink communication cable (6-pin RJ-12 to 8-pin RJ-45 connectors)
- Hubble CAN Bus cable
- Hubble battery unit(s)
WARNING: Ensure the correct battery to Any-Grid cable is used. Incorrect wiring or cable orientation can cause damage not covered by warranty.
System Overview
The system comprises optional PV Panels, AC Loads, Public Grid (optional), Generator (optional), Hubble battery unit(s), and the Phocos Any-Grid™ Hybrid Inverter Charger with a Removable Display.
Diagram Description: A schematic shows PV panels connected to the Any-Grid inverter. The inverter also connects to AC loads and can receive input from a Public Grid or Generator. Hubble battery units are shown connected to the Any-Grid inverter.
Battery Sizing
To maintain the full battery warranty, each battery unit should not exceed 100 Adc continuous charge/discharge current and 125 Adc peak for up to 100 ms. It is recommended to use at least 1.5 battery units in parallel for a single PSW-H-5KW, and at least 2 battery units for a PSW-H-6.5KW-120/48V. For PSW-H-3KW units, use at least 1.8 AM-4 battery units. Using fewer batteries may void the Hubble battery warranty and cause the battery to disconnect from the Any-Grid.
Multiple Any-Grids must be connected to a single battery array, with a maximum of 15 battery units.
Battery Communication Cable Installation and Powering On
CAUTION: Before connecting battery units to the Any-Grid(s), ensure the battery, AC input source, AC output loads, and PV input remain disconnected.
- Ensure all battery units are turned off.
- Set the address DIP switches on the battery units according to the battery manual.
- Ensure battery units are off. Connect the Any-Grid(s) to the battery power terminals with correct polarity.
- Plug the RJ-12 end of the battery communication cable into the Cloudlink device's "S" port and the RJ-45 side into the Any-Grid display panel's "RS-232" port.
- Using the provided RJ45 cable, connect the CAN Bus cable to the “CAN” port of the Hubble battery and the other end to the “CAN” port of the Cloudlink device.
- Ensure battery units are wired correctly as per the Hubble battery manual. Turn on each battery unit using the power button. Verify that the “RUN” LED blinks green and the “ALM” LED is off.
- Turn the "ON/OFF” load power button of the Any-Grid(s) to the ON position. Ensure no loads are connected.
- The Any-Grid(s) should now be running with the display(s) on.
- Refer to the Cloudlink setup guide on the Hubble website (www.hubblelithium.co.za) for Cloudlink device setup procedures.
- Once Cloudlink setup is complete and no errors are present on the Any-Grid(s) or battery unit(s), turn on the load breaker, followed by the PV, and finally the AC source breaker (if present).
CAUTION: Incorrect polarity can damage the Any-Grid and battery, which is not covered by warranty.
