Installation
Prepare for the Installation:
If you have an outlet to the outside, your cooker hood can be connected via an extraction duct with an interior diameter of 150mm. (See diagram showing ducting to an outside outlet).
Before installation, turn the unit off and unplug it from the outlet. (See diagram showing earthed outlet box and plug).
The cooker hood should be placed at a minimum distance of 65-76cm above the hob. The hob manufacturer determines the required clearance, which must be followed. If no instructions are supplied with a gas hob, the minimum distance between the hob and the hood must be at least 760mm. (See diagram showing person measuring distance).
Installation - Ducted:
⚠️ WARNING: Observe the warning concerning appliance operation when air is discharged from the room.
- Position the hanging plate on the ceiling and mark the screw holes. Securely fix the hanging plate to the ceiling. (Diagram shows hanging plate installation with screw positions). This requires 11 x ST6 (40mm) screws for wooden ceilings or 8 x expansion bolts for cement ceilings.
- Fix the angle bars to the hanging plate using 8 x M5 screws.
- Extend the angle bars to the required height and fix them in position using 16 x M5 screws and nuts with metal washers. IMPORTANT: The angle bars must have an overlap of at least 100mm. (Diagram shows angle bar attachment and extension).
- If your cooker hood is to be externally ventilated, connect the ducting hose to the ceiling adaptor. Fix the upper chimney section to the hanging plate using 4 x self-tapping screws. Slide the lower chimney section onto the angle bars and raise it until it sits just below the upper chimney section. (Diagram shows chimney sections being fitted).
- If the glass canopy has not been pre-assembled, fix it to the top of the main body of the cooker hood. (Diagram shows glass canopy attachment).
- Lift the main body of the cooker hood onto the angle bars and fix it into position using 16 x M5 screws. IMPORTANT: This stage MUST be completed by two people. The 16 x M5 screws MUST be securely tightened. (Diagram shows main body being lifted and fixed).
- If using the hood in ducted/ventilation mode, fix the ducting hose to the ceiling. (Diagram shows ducting hose connection).
- The electrical connection must correspond to the electrical requirement on the rating plate inside the cooker hood. Connect the appliance to the electrical supply.
- Check that the appliance is operating correctly by selecting each speed and switching the lights on and off.
- Remove the hanging hook and slide the lower chimney section downwards until it rests against the main body of the cooker hood. (Diagram shows lower chimney section sliding down).
- Use a stainless steel cleaner and polish on the stainless steel sections of the appliance.
- If using the appliance in recirculation mode, fit the charcoal filter. See "Fitting the charcoal filter" section on page 14.
- Fix the one-way valve to the air outlet of the cooker hood. Attach the exhaust pipe onto the one-way valve. (Diagram shows exhaust pipe and one-way valve attachment).
Installation - Recirculation Mode:
If you do not have an outlet to the outside, the exhaust pipe is not required, and charcoal filters must be installed. (Diagram shows recirculation airflow).
Installing the Charcoal Filter (CAP61CF):
An activated charcoal filter traps odours. To install it, detach the grease filter first. Press the release button and pull downwards as shown. (Diagram shows detaching grease filter and installing charcoal filter). Fit the activated charcoal filter onto the side of the motor and turn clockwise to lock. Repeat on the other side. Scan the QR Code to access the 'How To' video.
NOTE:
- Make sure the filter is securely locked; otherwise, it may loosen and be dangerous.
- Extraction power may be slightly reduced when using a charcoal filter.
- Replace these filters every 6 months. Replacement filters (CAP61CF) can be purchased directly from www.caple.co.uk.
Operation - Touch Control
ON/OFF BUTTON: Press and hold for 2-3 seconds to turn the extractor fan on. Change speeds as below. Press again to switch off.
- 1 LOW SPEED BUTTON: Suitable for simmering and cooking that produces little steam or odour.
- 2 MEDIUM SPEED BUTTON: Airflow speed is ideal for standard cooking.
- 3 HIGH SPEED BUTTON: Use for high amounts of steam or odours for the most effective extraction.
- LIGHT BUTTON: Switches the light on and off.
Care and Maintenance
IMPORTANT: Before cleaning or maintenance, switch off the electricity supply and remove the plug from the wall.
Regular Cleaning:
Use a soft damp cloth with lukewarm, mildly soapy water or household cleaning detergent. Never use metal pads, chemicals, abrasive material, abrasive cleaning creams, or stiff brushes.
Cleaning the Grease Filter:
Clean the filter every month to minimise fire risk. The filter collects grease, smoke, and dust, affecting the hood's efficiency. If not cleaned, grease residue (flammable) will saturate the filter. It can be cleaned with warm water and washing-up liquid, or in a dishwasher. Ensure no other items are washed with the filters to prevent food trapping. Dishwasher cleaning may cause discolouration, which is normal and not a fault.
Replacing Your Charcoal Filter:
This applies only if using the hood in recirculation mode. The charcoal filter traps cooking odours and needs replacement, varying by usage frequency. Replace them at least every 6 months. This extractor uses CAP61CF charcoal filters, available from www.caple.co.uk.
Replacing the Bulb:
- Switch off and unplug the appliance.
- Remove the lamp cover by unscrewing the 2 screws. (Diagram shows lamp cover and screws).
- Replace with the same type and rated bulb/lamp fixing. LED lamp (max. 1.5W).
NOTE: The lights must be replaced by a qualified person.
Light Source Energy Class:
This product contains a light source of energy efficiency class G.
