This document provides instructions for the DeLonghi Magnifica bean to cup espresso and cappuccino machine. It details the components, operation, and maintenance of the appliance.
The machine is designed to prepare espresso and cappuccino drinks from whole coffee beans.
Machine Components

Control Panel Functions
The control panel features several buttons and a dial for operating the machine:
- B1: ECO button.

- B5: Water quantity adjustment dial (MIN to MAX).
- B6: Coffee bean selector dial.

Initial Setup and First Use
- Unpacking: Remove all packaging materials.
- Water Tank: Fill the water tank (A9) with fresh, cold water. Ensure the water tank filter (A11) is correctly inserted if applicable.
- Power Connection: Connect the power cord (A14) to a suitable electrical outlet and turn on the main power switch (A8).
- Rinsing Cycle: Perform an initial rinsing cycle as per the instructions in the manual. This typically involves dispensing hot water through the coffee spout and steam wand.
Making Espresso
- Ensure the machine is filled with water and coffee beans.
- Place a cup under the coffee spout (A18).
- Select the desired coffee strength and quantity using the respective buttons (B3, B4).
- Press the Espresso button (B9). The machine will grind the beans and dispense the espresso.
Making Cappuccino
- Prepare an espresso in a large cup.
- Pour cold milk into a milk frothing pitcher.
- Insert the steam/hot water wand (A12) into the milk.
- Press the Steam/hot water button (B7) to activate steam. Move the pitcher to froth the milk until it doubles in volume and reaches the desired temperature.
- Turn the steam regulator (A19) to stop the steam.
- Pour the frothed milk over the espresso.
- For automatic cappuccino, use the Cappuccino button (B8) and follow on-screen prompts or specific instructions for milk carafe attachment if applicable to the model.
Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning and maintenance are essential for optimal performance and longevity of the machine.
- Drip Tray: Empty and clean the drip tray (A4/A15) and grid (A5/A16) regularly.
- Used Coffee Grounds Container: Empty the used coffee grounds container (A6) when indicated by the machine.
- Water Tank: Clean the water tank (A9) periodically.
- Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the machine with a damp cloth.
- Descaling: Descale the machine regularly using a DeLonghi descaler (C3) or a suitable alternative, following the descaling procedure outlined in the full manual.
- Water Filter: Replace the water filter (A11) as recommended.
Troubleshooting
Refer to the full instruction manual for detailed troubleshooting guidance. Common issues may include the machine not turning on, coffee not dispensing, or steam not being produced.
