Important Safety Precautions

Always follow basic safety precautions when using your Vivitar 4K Waterproof Camcorder:

  1. Read all instructions before use.
  2. Shut down immediately and remove the battery if exposed to water or short-circuiting.
  3. Adult supervision is required for children or the infirm using the camcorder.
  4. Do not expose to excessive heat, flames, or fire.
  5. Press buttons and switches carefully; do not manhandle the camcorder.
  6. Avoid extremely dry environments to prevent static discharge.
  7. Do not expose to temperatures above 50°C.
  8. Do not attempt self-repair; contact a qualified service center.
  9. Do not drop, puncture, or expose to excessive trauma.
  10. This camcorder is not intended for commercial use.
  11. Keep away from strong magnetic field generating objects.
  12. Unplug the device when not in use for extended periods or during lightning storms.
  13. Use only the supplied battery. Do not use if expanded or leaked. Seek medical attention if swallowed.
  14. Do not operate while driving.
  15. Store in a cool, dry environment when not in use.
  16. Ensure the battery is fully charged and a suitable memory card is inserted before use.

A Quick Look at Your Camcorder

Front View

The front view shows the lens, the '4K' logo, and '56 MEGA PIXELS STILL IMAGE RECORDING'.

Rear View

The rear view displays the LCD Screen, Cover Lock (LOCK/UNLOCK), and Battery Cover.

Battery Compartment

The battery compartment includes the USB Port, Memory Card Slot, and HDMI Port.

Bottom View

The bottom view shows the Tripod Mount.

Side View

The side view shows the Power button, Mode/OK button, Menu button, UP Button, DOWN Button, Speaker, Busy Light Indicator, and Record/Shutter Button.

Top View

The top view shows the Zoom/Volume control (T/W and +/- VOL).

Button Functions

  • Power Button: Press to power on; press and hold to power off.
  • Mode Button: Press to switch between camera modes (Video, Photo, Playback).
  • Menu Button: Press to access settings menus; press again to exit.
  • Zoom/Volume Button: Zoom in/out in photo/video mode; adjust volume during playback; toggle through menu selections.
  • UP & DOWN Buttons: Navigate selections on the display screen.
  • Record/Shutter Button: Start/stop recording in video mode; take a picture in photo mode.

Inserting a Memory Card

A Micro SD memory card (Class 10 or above, 16-128GB recommended) is required to store photos and videos. To insert:

  1. Close the monitor to turn off the device.
  2. Open the battery cover.
  3. Insert the Micro SD card into the memory card slot.

To remove, push the Micro SD card inward once, then pull it out.

Note: Format the memory card if a 'Card is Full' error appears or for proper recognition. Backup data before formatting as it erases all files.

Opening and Closing the Battery Cover

To Open:

  1. Slide the cover lock downward and hold.
  2. Push the battery cover to the right while holding the lock.
  3. Lift the cover slowly.

To Close:

  1. Flip down the battery cover.
  2. Press the cover down and slide it left until it clicks. Ensure the waterproof seal fits around the edge.

Note: The cover lock automatically moves to LOCK when properly closed. If unlocked, the cover is not fully closed.

Caution: Prevent water or debris from entering the battery cover to avoid damage to the battery and waterproof seal. Damage to the seal or cover compromises waterproofing.

Charging the Battery

Insert the rechargeable lithium battery into the battery slot. Connect the Micro USB Charging Cable to the camcorder's USB port and to a computer or AV adapter plugged into an outlet. The charging light indicator will be green while charging.

Powering On & Off

Powering On:

Press the Power button.

Powering Off:

Press and hold the Power button.

Note: The BUSY light indicator shows red when powering on. The camcorder can also power on/off by opening/closing the screen and will automatically power off after a period of inactivity to save power.

Switching Modes

Press the Mode/OK button to switch between Video, Photo, and Playback modes. Each mode has a distinct display on the screen.

Video Mode/Recording Videos

In Video mode, press the Shutter button to start and stop recording. The display screen shows video recording indicators like mode icon, EV, audio status, resolution (e.g., 4K(30fps)), time, date, and battery level.

Photo Mode/Taking Photos

In Photo mode, press the Shutter button to focus and take a picture. The display screen shows photo mode indicators like ISO, EV, white balance, quality, time-lapse capture, resolution (e.g., 24M), file number, date, time, and battery level.

Playback Mode and Deleting Files

Enter Playback mode by pressing the Mode/OK button. Use the Up & Down buttons to navigate files. Press the Shutter button to play/pause videos. Use the Zoom/Volume button for volume control.

Deleting Files:

Select a file, press the Menu button, navigate to [DELETE], select [DELETE THIS FILE], and confirm [YES/NO].

Playback Mode Display Screen:

The screen displays video/photo file information, playback controls (stop, pause, fast forward/rewind), volume, resolution, date, time, and memory card status.

Playback on a TV

  1. Connect one end of the included HDMI cable to the camcorder's HDMI port.
  2. Connect the other end to your TV's HDMI In port.
  3. Set the TV input to HDMI.
  4. Playback images on the camcorder.

Connecting to a Computer

  1. Connect the included USB-C cable to the camcorder's USB port and your computer's USB port.
  2. Flip the camcorder screen open.
  3. Select Mass Storage on the camcorder's screen.
  4. Your computer will recognize the camcorder's memory card as a drive for file transfer.

This allows charging the battery and transferring files.

Formatting Micro SD Memory Card

To format the memory card (required for proper recognition), access the Setup menu via the Menu button. Navigate to 'Format', select it, and confirm [OK].

Note: Formatting erases all data on the card irreversibly. Back up important files before formatting.

Accessing Menus

Menus are accessed using the Menu button. Settings are mode-specific (Photo, Video, or Setup). Use the Zoom/Volume button to switch between Photo/Video and Setup menus. Use Up/Down buttons to navigate and Mode/OK to select.

Setting Menu (For Photo Mode)

Adjust photo settings such as Photo Size (up to 56MP), Time-Lapse Capture, Self-Timer, Color Filter, Photo Burst, Quality, Sharpness, White Balance, ISO sensitivity, Exposure Setting, and Metering Mode.

Setting Menu (For Video Mode)

Adjust video settings including Movie Size (resolution up to 4K), Loop Recording, Color Filter, White Balance, Exposure Setting, Motion Detection, Record Audio, and Time-Lapse intervals.

Setting Menu (For Playback Mode)

Manage files in playback mode: Delete (Current/All), Protect (Lock/Unlock Current/All), and Slide Show settings (duration).

Setup Menu (Camcorder Settings)

Configure general camcorder settings: Date and Time, Auto Power Off, Screen Save, Beep Set, Language (multiple options available), Power Frequency, Format SD Card, Default Settings, and view Version Information.
