Product Overview
Niko presents the P42MR Presence Detector, a 230V, 2-channel master unit designed for surface mounting. It offers a 360° detection angle with a range of 12-13 meters. The device features Bluetooth® connectivity for app-based settings and is suitable for various lighting loads.
Installation and Wiring

The detector requires connection to a 230V power supply. The wiring terminals include L (Live), N (Neutral), T1/S (Switching output 1 / Sensor input), T2 (Switching output 2), C1 (Common for output 2), and NO1 (Normally Open for output 1). A secondary detector (353-60x021) can be connected.
A miniature circuit breaker (MCB) of max. 16 A is recommended for securing the product in the electrical cabinet, adhering to national installation rules.
Mounting Instructions
The detector is designed for surface mounting. The mounting height is recommended to be between 2 and 3.5 meters. The unit dimensions are 100 x 100 x 50 mm (HxWxD). The wire capacity is 1.5/2.5 mm². Ensure any replaced grommets are halogen-free.
LED Indicator Behavior
The detector uses LED indicators to show its status:
- Green LED: Continuous on indicates "Connection OK". Breathing (slow on/off) indicates "Connection OK, overrule ON". Flashing indicates "Warming up".
- Red LED: Continuous on indicates "Error". Breathing (slow on/off) indicates "Warning".
- Blue LED: Flashing indicates "Walk test active".
- General: "Wait" and "More info -->" are also indicated.
Detection Area
The presence detector has a 360° detection angle. The detection range (PIR) is approximately Ø 12 m from a height of 3 m. The diagram illustrates detection patterns for walking (across, towards) and presence at different heights (2.5m, 3.0m) and distances (Ø 3m, Ø 5m, Ø 11m, Ø 12m, Ø 13m). These measurements are according to EN/IEC63180.

Troubleshooting
Common Issues and Solutions
- Load does not turn on: Check wiring, or increase ambient light threshold if light is too strong.
- Load does not turn off: Check and shorten the switch-off delay if it's too long.
- Detector receives false triggers: Remove objects causing false triggers from the detection range or lower sensitivity.
- App cannot connect: Ensure Bluetooth® is enabled on your mobile device.
