Hotpoint SA2 540 H BL Built-in Oven: Safety, Installation, and Usage Guide

Important Safety Instructions

Read and observe these safety instructions. Keep them nearby for future reference. The manufacturer is not liable for failure to observe these instructions, inappropriate use, or incorrect control settings.

Child Safety

Very young children (0-3 years) must be kept away. Young children (3-8 years) require continuous supervision. Children aged 8+ and persons with reduced capabilities can use the appliance if supervised or instructed on safe use and hazards. Children must not play with the appliance. Cleaning and maintenance require adult supervision.

Appliance Heat and Flammability

⚠️ The appliance and its accessible parts become hot during use. Avoid touching heating elements. Children under 8 must be supervised. Never leave the appliance unattended during food drying. Use only recommended temperature probes. Keep flammable materials away from the appliance until cooled. Be vigilant with fatty/oily foods or alcoholic beverages. Use oven gloves. Open the door cautiously after cooking to allow hot air/steam to escape gradually. Do not obstruct hot air vents.

Door Handling

Exercise caution when the oven door is open or down to avoid hitting it.

Permitted Use

This appliance is intended for household and similar applications (staff kitchens, offices, farm houses, hotels, motels, B&Bs). It is not intended for operation via external switching devices (timers, remote controls). No other use is permitted (e.g., heating rooms). Not for professional use or outdoor use. Do not store explosive or flammable substances near the appliance.

Installation

⚠️ The appliance must be handled and installed by two or more persons. Use protective gloves during unpacking and installation. Installation, water supply, and electrical connections must be done by a qualified technician. Do not repair or replace parts unless specified in the manual. Keep children away from the installation site. Check for transport damage. Store packaging waste out of reach of children. Disconnect from power supply before installation. Ensure the power cable is not damaged during installation. Activate the appliance only after completion. Carry out cabinet cutting before fitting and remove wood chips. Do not remove the appliance from its base until installation. After installation, the bottom must not be accessible. Do not install behind a decorative door. Ensure minimum gap between worktop and oven edge if installed under a worktop.

Installation Dimensions and Clearances

Installation requires specific clearances. The oven dimensions are approximately 557mm width, 530mm height, and 595mm depth. Minimum installation space required is 560mm in height and width, and 595mm in depth. Cut-out dimensions include a 40mm side clearance and a 5mm gap for ventilation/cable management. The oven door opens to a maximum of 89 degrees.

Handling and Securing

Electrical and Interference Warnings

Illustrations show the oven being connected to a power socket. Warnings are provided against using extension leads, multiple sockets, or adapters, and to avoid electrical interference.

Electrical Warnings

The rating plate is located on the front edge of the oven. The appliance must be disconnectable from the power supply via an accessible plug or a multi-pole switch. It must be earthed according to national standards. Do not use extension leads, multiple sockets, or adapters. Electrical components must not be accessible after installation. Do not use the appliance when wet or barefoot. Do not operate if the power cable or plug is damaged or the appliance is not working properly.

If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, service agent, or qualified persons to avoid electrical shock hazards. Contact an authorized service center for power cable replacement.

Cleaning and Maintenance

⚠️ Ensure the appliance is switched off and disconnected from the power supply before maintenance. Use protective gloves and safety shoes. Handle by two persons. Never use steam cleaning equipment. Non-professional repairs are not authorized and void the guarantee. Do not use harsh abrasive cleaners or metal scrapers on the door glass to prevent scratching. Ensure the appliance has cooled down before cleaning or maintenance. ⚠️ Switch off the appliance before replacing the lamp.

Disposal of Packaging Materials and Appliances

Packaging material is 100% recyclable (♻️ symbol). Dispose of packaging and the appliance in accordance with local waste disposal regulations. This appliance is marked according to the WEEE Directive (2012/19/EU). Proper disposal helps prevent negative environmental and health consequences. Contact local authorities or collection centers for recycling information.

Energy Saving Tips

Only preheat the oven if specified by the recipe. Use dark lacquered or enamelled baking trays for better heat absorption. Food requiring prolonged cooking will continue to cook after the oven is switched off.

This appliance meets Ecodesign requirements (EU Regulation 66/2014), Energy Labelling Regulation (65/2014), and relevant UK regulations, in compliance with EN 60350-1. The product contains a light source of energy efficiency class G.
