Introduction

The M11 Pro is a high fidelity, high resolution digital audio player, featuring Samsung 14nm Exynos 7872, dual AK4497EQ DACs, THX AAA-78 balanced amplifier architecture, 3GB RAM, 64GB internal storage as well as external storage via its micro SD slot (theoretically supporting up to 2TB). The digital audio player is equipped with a 5.15-inch 18:9 HD display, running on a deep customized Android 7.0, coupled with an in-house developed professional music playback APP, "FiiO Music". The result is an implementation which is responsive and simple to operate. It supports PO / LO / BAL (both 2.5mm and 4.4mm) / SPDIF outputs and also supports USB Audio / USB DAC / Bluetooth receiver functionalities. In the area of Wireless, The M11 Pro not only supports dual-band WiFi and Bluetooth 4.2 protocol but also supports an array of high-quality Bluetooth codecs not limited to aptX, aptX-HD, LDAC and HWA (LHDC). One can play music continuously for at least 9.5 hours or let it go in deep sleep mode for 55 days allowing one to enjoy it any time.

Buttons and ports introduced

1. Pictorial guide to buttons and ports

The device is shown from the front. The top edge features the Power/Lockscreen button. The left side has the Play/Pause button, Volume wheel, Previous track button, and Next track button. The right side has a Micro SD card slot. The bottom edge features output ports: 4.4mm balanced output, 2.5mm balanced output, USB transfer/Charging port, and 3.5mm Headphone/Lineout/Coaxial output.

2. Buttons and ports explained

  1. 5.15 inches IPS Hi-Res incell screen (1440x720 pixels): Displays the user interface and other information; used for operating the unit via screen touches in conjunction with buttons.
  2. Power / Lock: While powered off, hold for 2s to turn on. While powered on, hold to display power off/reboot menu. Press briefly while powered on to turn screen on/off. Hold the power button for 10 seconds to reset.
  3. Play / Pause: Press while playing to pause, press while paused to continue playback.
  4. Volume knob: Scroll up to turn up the volume, scroll down to turn down.
  5. Previous track: Short press to play the previous track; long press to rewind the track quickly.
  6. Next track: Short press to play the next track; long press to fast forward the track.
  7. Micro SD card slot: Supports external Micro SD card storage (theoretically up to 2TB extension).
  8. Type C USB data/charging port: Used for charging, transmitting data, and USB Audio output. A QC2.0 adapter is recommended for charging, which can fill the battery in about 2 hours.
  9. 4.4mm balanced headphone output: Supports 4.4mm TRRS balanced headphones.
  10. 2.5mm balanced headphone output: Supports 2.5mm TRRRS balanced headphones.
  11. 3.5mm PO/LO/SPDIF coaxial output: Shared phone/line/coaxial output port. Switch between these outputs in M11 Pro Settings -> Audio Settings -> Multifunctional Output.

CTIA-spec headsets with in-line remote control are supported for the following remote control operations (single button remotes and main button of multi-button remotes):

  • Volume Up/Down: Click to turn up/down the volume by one step; hold to turn up/down the volume continuously to Max volume/Mute.
  • Play / Pause: Press the main button once briefly to toggle between play and pause.
  • Next track: Double-click the main button quickly.
  • Previous track: Triple-click the main button quickly.

Main interface and drop-down display

The main interface displays the time, date, and status icons. The drop-down display shows quick settings like WiFi, Bluetooth, volume, brightness, and app shortcuts.

Setting interface

1. WiFi

The M11 Pro can connect to the Internet or other network resources. To connect to WiFi devices/hotspots:

  1. Tap 'WLAN' in settings.
  2. Slide the WiFi switch to 'ON'. The M11 Pro will search for and display available WiFi connections.
  3. Tap the name of the desired WiFi network and enter the password if prompted. The M11 Pro will then connect.

2. Bluetooth

The M11 Pro supports multiple Bluetooth codecs and both transmission and receiving, allowing users to expand its functions wirelessly.

Using M11 Pro as a Bluetooth transmitter:

To use the M11 Pro with new Bluetooth devices (e.g., earphones, speakers, remote controls), pairing is required:

  1. Tap 'Bluetooth' in settings.
  2. If Bluetooth is off, turn it on using the switch.
  3. Tap "SEARCH FOR DEVICES" to find nearby Bluetooth devices.
  4. Tap the name of your Bluetooth device to pair. Successfully paired devices appear under "PAIRED DEVICES".

Before connecting to Bluetooth, you can select the desired Bluetooth audio codec:

  1. Enter the Settings > Audio settings interface.
  2. Click on 'Wireless Play', select the desired codec, disconnect the current connection, and reconnect with your Bluetooth device.

Note: If already connected to a Bluetooth device, disconnect it to switch the Bluetooth audio code. Switching between LDAC modes can work in real time. When Bluetooth is turned on, the M11 Pro will automatically connect to the latest available device.

Using M11 Pro as a Bluetooth receiver:

When connected to a new Bluetooth device (e.g., a mobile phone) as a receiver, turn on "Bluetooth decoding mode" in Bluetooth settings. The Bluetooth will turn off automatically. Turn Bluetooth on again to enter Bluetooth receive mode.

3. Audio

Multifunctional Output:

Switch the output between PO, LO, and SPDIF Coaxial.

SPDIF Coaxial output:

You can choose between DoP and D2P modes. In D2P mode, DSD is converted to PCM output. In DoP mode, it outputs the original input (the amplifier must support DSD, otherwise, noise may occur when playing DSD in DoP mode).

Gain:

Sets the gain level of the headphone output to High (high volume) or Low (low volume).

Digital filter mode:

Set filter modes: Sharp Roll-Off Filter, Slow Roll-Off Filter, Short delay Sharp Roll-Off Filter, Short delay Slow Roll-Off Filter, Super Slow Roll-Off Filter.

Wireless playback quality:

When the Bluetooth receiver supports multiple Bluetooth audio encodes (e.g., BTR3), you can select the desired one.

USB mode:

Storage and USB DAC modes are provided. For Windows users, download the USB DAC driver from the FiiO website and follow the installation instructions. MAC computers do not need the driver. Download Link: https://www.fiio.com/Driver_Download

Channel balance:

Set the volume balance between the left and right channels. There are 21 settings available, from leftmost (L10) through the center (0) to rightmost (R10).

In-line remote:

Response to in-line remotes on connected headsets can be enabled or disabled.

ALL to DSD:

In ALL to DSD mode, PCM will be converted to DSD64 output.

Adjustable volume at LO: on/off:

This allows setting whether the volume through Line Out can be controlled by adjusting the volume level or not.

AirPlay:

  1. Connect to the same WiFi.
  2. Click AirPlay on M11 Pro.
  3. Click the device AirPlay button and choose FiiO Music Player to connect.
  4. Playing music on your device, you can listen on M11 PRO.

General

General settings include Navigation control, Power-off timers, Key-lock settings, Maximum volume settings, Fixed volume settings, and Double click to wake up.

Operation method:

Choose between "gesture operation" and "virtual key" modes according to your habits.

Gesture control introduction:

Describes how to use gesture controls for navigation, switching tasks, and triggering in-app functions.

Power-off timers:

Includes "Idle poweroff" and "Sleep".

  • Sleep: The device automatically shuts down after a set time (0-120 minutes). If OFF, the function is disabled.
  • Idle poweroff: The device automatically turns off after a set period of inactivity (0-50 minutes). If OFF, the function is disabled.

Lock key settings:

Choose which buttons/knob are available when the screen is locked.

Maximum volume settings:

Prevent sudden volume increases due to misoperation. Set the appropriate maximum volume to protect hearing.

Fixed volume settings:

The default boot volume is 60; you can set the appropriate boot volume.

Double click to wake up:

When enabled, double-clicking the screen while locked wakes up the display.

Display

Display settings include brightness, wallpaper, hibernation, screen saver, font size, and display size.

Sleep:

Set the time to go to sleep when there is no operation. After ten minutes of sleep, the device enters low power mode. A short press of the "Power/Lock Screen" button wakes it up.

Font size:

Choose from small, default, large, and maximum four font sizes.

Display size:

Choose from three levels: small, default, and large. Display size affects both icons and text.

Language settings

  1. Press "setting", "language & input", and "languages" to access the "language preference setting" interface.
  2. Press "Add a language".
  3. Select a language.
  4. Press the "=" icon next to the target language and drag it to the top of the list to set it as primary.

Backup & reset

"Network settings reset" resets all network settings, including WiFi and Bluetooth.

"Factory data reset" erases all data and restores original default settings. Backup important files beforehand.

Firmware update

You can select OTA update or local update.

  • OTA update: Requires a stable Wi-Fi connection. Press "check update" to search for new versions. You will be notified if a new version is available.
  • Local update:
    1. Download the firmware file (e.g., "M11 Pro-ota-1.0.3.zip") from the FiiO official website and copy it to Micro SD. Do not unzip or modify the file name.
    2. Navigate to "technical support > local update", locate the firmware file, and press it.
    3. Wait patiently; the M11 Pro will start the firmware update automatically.
    4. Upon completion, the M11 Pro will restart automatically and can be used normally.

Note: Ensure sufficient battery power before updating. If the update fails, check if the correct firmware is used. Do not manipulate the M11 Pro during updating.

Status bar

The status bar at the top of the screen displays various status information:

  • 1: current volume
  • 2: hide icons
  • 3: running app
  • 4: downloading
  • 5: download completed
  • 6: firmware update prompt
  • 7: screen shot
  • 8: micro SD card inserted
  • 9: storage mode connecting with computer
  • 10: Blue tooth codec format
  • 11: PO plug (included PO, LO, Spdif)
  • 12: remaining battery in percentage
  • 13: WiFi
  • 14: current time

  1. Firmware update: Choose from online or local firmware updates.

FiiO Music

M11 Pro embeds FiiO Music, a professional audio playback software designed for Android and flagship music players. Its main functionalities are introduced below.

1. Homepage:

FiiO Music enters the homepage upon startup. The interface shows options like 'Setting', 'Local Music', 'Playlists', 'DLNA'. Users can tap to jump to the 'now playing' page or switch between 'Recently Played', 'Most Played', and 'Recently Added' lists.

2. Quickly locate all the songs:

Slide on the letter bar on the right side of the screen. The corresponding initial letter appears in the center. Releasing your finger on the letter jumps the list to songs starting with that letter.

3. Functionalities corresponding to "all-songs" interface:

Click the icon (⋮) next to each song to open a hidden menu with options like 'Add to Playlist', 'Check track info', 'Delete song', and 'WiFi music transfer'.

  • Sorting methods: Sort by file name, adding time, or initial letters alphabetically.
  • Bulk management: Batch play, song transfer via Wi-Fi, add to My Favorites or Playlist as a group, delete as a group.

4. Now playing interface:

The interface displays album cover, song title, artist, playback controls (Play/Pause, Previous/Next track, Shuffle, Repeat), and progress bar. The 'Switching area' allows switching between album cover and lyrics, or sliding left/right to switch songs. Volume can be adjusted using the volume roller. Tapping the right side of the volume popup shows it, and it hides after a short period or when another area is pressed. Slide on the progress bar to fast forward/rewind.

5. Professional Equalizer:

FiiO Music includes a graphic equalizer. Users can choose genre presets or adjust ten frequency bands (-12 to +12 dB) from 20 to 20000Hz.

  • Choose preset EQ: Swipe up to show EQ presets and tap to select.
  • Customize EQ: Adjust EQ curve by dragging control icons for frequency bands. Swipe left/right to change pages.
  • Reset EQ: Tap the reset button to reset the EQ to its genre default. (Factory reset also resets EQ settings.)

MQA (Master Quality Authenticated):

The M11 Pro supports MQA technology for playing MQA audio files and streams, delivering original master recording sound. A green or blue dot next to the MQA logo indicates decoding and playback. Blue indicates an MQA Studio file, verified by the artist/producer or copyright owner.
