Information About the Thermometer
Measured temperature can vary depending on the measurement site. For healthy individuals, this variation can range from 0.2°C to 1°C (0.4°F to 1.8°F).
Normal Temperature Ranges for Different Thermometers:
Measurement Value | Thermometer Used |
---|---|
Forehead temperature: 35.8°C to 37.6°C (96.4°F to 99.7°F) | Temple thermometer |
Ear temperature: 36.0°C to 37.8°C (96.8°F to 100.0°F) | Ear thermometer |
Oral temperature: 36.0°C to 37.4°C (96.8°F to 99.3°F) | Traditional thermometer |
Rectal temperature: 36.3°C to 37.8°C (97.3°F to 100.0°F) | Traditional thermometer |
Beurer Tip:
- Do not compare temperatures measured with different thermometers.
- Inform your doctor which thermometer was used and where on the body the temperature was measured. This is also important for self-diagnosis.
Holding the thermometer in your hand for too long before measurement can warm it up, potentially falsifying the results.
Factors Affecting Body Temperature:
- Individual metabolism
- Age: Infants and young children have higher body temperatures than adults. Temperature fluctuations occur more quickly and frequently in children. Normal body temperature decreases with age.
- Clothing
- Ambient temperature
- Time of day: Body temperature is lower in the morning and increases during the day.
- Activity: Physical activity, and to a lesser extent mental activity, raises body temperature.
Beurer Tip:
Body temperature measurements indicate the current body temperature. If you are unsure about interpreting the result or if the value is unusual (e.g., fever), consult a doctor. This also applies to slight temperature changes if accompanied by other symptoms such as restlessness, heavy sweating, reddened skin, rapid pulse, or feeling faint.

Setting Basic Functions:
You can individually set the following functions in the menu:
- Temperature Unit: Insert batteries or press and hold the LIGHT/SET button for 3 seconds. The temperature unit will flash on the display. Use the MODE/MEM button to select °C or °F and confirm with LIGHT/SET. (See Figure 1)
- Time Format: The time format will flash on the display. Use the MODE/MEM button to select the desired format (24h or 12h) and confirm with LIGHT/SET. (See Figure 2)
- Date: The year will flash. Use MODE/MEM to set the year and confirm with LIGHT/SET. The day/month will then flash. Use MODE/MEM to set the day and month, then confirm with LIGHT/SET. (See Figures 3, 4, 5). If 12-hour format is selected, the day and month display order will change. Setting the correct date and time ensures accurate recording and retrieval of measurements.
- Time: The hour will flash. Use MODE/MEM to set the hour and confirm with LIGHT/SET. The minutes will then flash. Use MODE/MEM to set the minutes and confirm with LIGHT/SET. (See Figures 6, 7). In 12-hour format, AM/PM will be indicated.
- Display Backlight: The backlight symbol will flash. The automatic display backlight (activated after a forehead measurement) can be switched on or off. Use MODE/MEM to select ON or OFF and confirm with LIGHT/SET. (See Figure 8). The display can also be manually illuminated by briefly pressing the LIGHT/SET button; it stays lit for 5 seconds. Note: The backlight cannot be used during measurement.

Measuring Forehead Temperature
Beurer Tip:
- Physical activity, excessive forehead sweating, vasoconstrictive medication, and skin irritation can falsify measurement results.
- The forehead or temples must be dry and free of cosmetics.
- It is recommended to take three forehead measurements. If results differ, use the highest value as the correct result.
- If the forehead area is covered by hair, sweat, or dirt, clean it and wait 10 minutes for more accurate measurements.
- Do not move the thermometer during measurement, as this can lead to inaccurate readings.
To switch on the thermometer, briefly press the /SCAN button. After a short automatic test and two short audible signals, the device is ready for forehead temperature measurement. The device is in Forehead Temperature mode, indicated by a symbol on the display. (See Figure 10).
Hold the thermometer 2–3 cm from the measurement point on the forehead (See Figure 11). Press the /SCAN button.
If the measured temperature is below 37.5°C (99.5°F), the display shows a symbol indicating no fever, meaning body temperature is within the normal range. (See Figure 12).
If the measured temperature is above 38°C (100.4°F), the display shows a symbol indicating fever. (See Figure 13).
The measurement value is automatically saved with the date/time and fever classification. Two short audible signals and a stable forehead symbol indicate the device is ready for the next measurement. The device switches off automatically after approximately 60 seconds, or you can press and hold the /SCAN button for 5 seconds.
Displaying Saved Measurement Values:
The device saves measurements taken in Forehead Temperature mode only, storing the last 60 measurements. The oldest measurement is deleted when the memory is full. To check the memory, press and hold the MODE/MEM button for 3 seconds while the thermometer is on. The most recent measurement will be displayed. Each subsequent press of the MODE/MEM button will display the next measurement. The top line alternates between time and date.
Measuring Object / Room Temperature
Object Temperature Measurement:
To measure object temperature, switch the thermometer to Object Temperature mode. With the thermometer on, briefly press the MODE/MEM button. The device switches to Object Temperature mode (See Figure 14).
Hold the thermometer 2–3 cm from the selected measurement point. Briefly press the /SCAN button and read the temperature on the display (See Figure 15). Measurement values in object temperature mode are not saved.
The device switches off automatically after approximately 60 seconds, or you can press and hold the /SCAN button for 5 seconds.
Room Temperature Measurement:
To measure room temperature, switch the thermometer to Room Temperature mode. With the thermometer on, briefly press the MODE/MEM button twice. The device switches to Room Temperature mode. The room temperature is displayed directly (See Figure 16). Measurement values in room temperature mode are not saved.
The device switches off automatically after approximately 60 seconds, or you can press and hold the /SCAN button for 5 seconds.
