Important Safety Information
Retain these instructions for future reference. Read carefully before use.
- The thermometer is exclusively for measuring human body temperature.
- Use only at the specified measuring locations on the human body.
- Do not leave unattended with children.
- Check for damage or wear before each use. Do not use if damaged or worn.
- Always wait for the acoustic signal for minimum measurement time. Discuss results with a doctor.
- Protect from shocks, bending, high temperatures, and direct sunlight.
- Avoid strong electromagnetic fields (e.g., near mobile phones) as they can cause malfunctions.
- The thermometer performs a self-test upon switching on; accuracy checks are not required.
- Consult a doctor for abnormal temperature readings.
- The device complies with EU Directive 93/42/EEC, the German Medical Devices Act, and European Standards EN 12470-3 and EN60601-1-2.
Notes on Electromagnetic Compatibility
The device is suitable for domestic environments but may be affected by electromagnetic disturbances, potentially causing error messages or device failure. Avoid using it directly next to or stacked with other devices. If necessary, monitor both devices. Use only manufacturer-specified accessories to prevent increased emissions or reduced immunity.
Measuring Methods
The thermometer can be used for three methods:
- Rectal (in the anus): Most reliable and accurate. Insert tip carefully 2-3 cm into the anus.
- Oral (in the mouth): Place tip carefully into one of the heat pouches beneath the tongue, to the left or right of the root of the tongue.
- Axillary (in the armpit): Relatively inaccurate and not medically recommended.
Method | Recommended Measurement Time | Mean Divergence to Rectal Method |
---|---|---|
In the anus | Until acoustic signal | – |
In the oral cavity | Until acoustic signal | -0.4°C to -1.5°C |
In the armpit | Minimum 5 minutes | -0.7°C to -2.0°C |
Usage
To use the thermometer:
- Remove the protective foil from the display.
- Briefly press the ON/OFF button. A short beep confirms activation.
- The thermometer performs a self-test (approx. 2 seconds). All display segments appear, followed by the reference value (37°C).
- The measurement symbol "°C" flashes, and "Lo" is displayed, indicating readiness.
- During measurement, the current temperature is displayed, and the "°C" symbol flashes.
- Measurement ends when a stable temperature is reached, indicated by an acoustic signal and a non-flashing "°C" symbol. The measured value is displayed.
- If the temperature is below 32°C, "Lo °C" is shown. Higher temperatures are displayed directly (e.g., 32.1°C).
- Prolonging measurement beyond the signal may yield more accurate results. For axillary measurements, continue for the recommended time even after the signal.
- A fever alarm (short beeps for 10 seconds) sounds for temperatures over 37.8°C.
- "Hi °C" appears for temperatures over 42.9°C.
- To conserve battery life, switch off the thermometer using the ON/OFF button after use. Otherwise, it switches off automatically after approximately 10 minutes.
Memory
The last measured value is automatically stored. Press the ON/OFF button to recall it. The thermometer performs a self-test, displays the last value for approx. 2 seconds, then the reference value (37°C) and "Lo". The stored value is replaced by the new measurement.
Battery Replacement
The thermometer uses one LR 41, 1.5V battery, lasting approximately 2 years. Replace the battery when "T" appears on the lower right edge of the display.
- Press the battery compartment cover at the end of the device and pull it back firmly.
- Remove the old battery and insert a new one of the same type, ensuring the '+' sign points upwards.
- Close the battery compartment cover.
Battery Disposal: Used batteries must be disposed of via designated collection points, special waste disposal sites, or electronics retailers. Disposal is a legal obligation.
Battery Handling Warnings:
- If battery fluid contacts skin or eyes, flush with water and seek medical attention.
- Choking hazard: Keep batteries away from small children.
- Observe polarity (+/-).
- If a battery leaks, wear gloves and clean the compartment with a dry cloth.
- Protect batteries from excessive heat.
- Risk of explosion: Do not throw batteries into fire.
- Do not charge or short-circuit batteries.
- Remove batteries if the device is not used for a long period.
- Use identical or equivalent battery types only.
- Always replace all batteries simultaneously.
- Do not use rechargeable batteries.
- Do not disassemble, open, or crush batteries.
Cleaning and Disinfection
The device must be cleaned and disinfected before and after each use. The thermometer is 100% waterproof and can be immersed in water or disinfectant.
- Do not boil the thermometer.
- Use recommended disinfectants according to manufacturer instructions: Isopropyl alcohol 70%, Gigasept FF, Lysoformin, Aseptisol.
- Other cleaning agents or methods may cause malfunction or damage.
Storage and Disposal
Store the thermometer in its original protective cover when not in use.
For environmental protection, do not dispose of the device with household waste at the end of its life. Dispose of it at suitable local collection or recycling points in accordance with the WEEE directive.
