Mitsubishi Electric Ceiling Cassette 4-Way Airflow Air Conditioners
This document provides an overview of Mitsubishi Electric's ceiling cassette air conditioners featuring 4-way airflow, including models from the PLFY-M VEM-E, PLFY-M VEM6-E, and PLFY-P VFM-E1 series, compatible with R32 and R410A refrigerants.
Key Technologies and Functions
These units are designed to provide comfort to all corners of the room through advanced features.
3D i-see Sensor and Versatile Airflow Variation
The 3D i-see Sensor detects room conditions, enabling versatile airflow adjustments for optimal comfort.
Optimum Airflow
2-, 3-, 4-way Airflow Pattern Selection: Three outlet options (bidirectional, three-way, and four-way) are available to suit different installation types. The four-way pattern is ideal for room centers, while the three-way pattern suits corners. (Note: Optional shuffle placement may be required for 2- and 3-way patterns).
Individual Vane Angle Settings: Vane direction can be adjusted via remote control to direct airflow away from or towards occupants and objects. Combinations of vane settings allow for optimal outlet settings, ensuring uniform temperature distribution and comfortable air conditioning.
Textual Description of Airflow Pattern Diagram: The diagram illustrates how vanes can be set horizontally or angled downwards, with an 'Adjustable' option, to achieve different airflow patterns.
High- and Low-Ceiling Modes
Units are equipped with modes to adjust airflow volume based on ceiling height, optimizing the air distribution and sensation throughout the room.
Textual Description of Airflow Range Table: A table shows airflow distances (in meters) for different models (M20-M80, M100/M125) across 4-way, 3-way, and 2-way airflow patterns, with settings for High-ceiling, Standard, and Low-ceiling modes. For example, the M100/M125 model with a 4-way airflow pattern in standard setting has an airflow range of 3.2m, while in high-ceiling setting it reaches 4.5m.
Automatic Air-Speed Adjustment
This feature automatically adjusts airflow speed to maintain comfortable room conditions. Initially, airflow is set to high speed for quick heating or cooling. Once the desired room temperature is reached, the speed automatically decreases for stable comfort.
Textual Description of Airflow Speed Adjustment Diagram: The diagram shows 'Strong' airflow at the start of operation, depicted as rapid arrows, and 'Gentle' airflow when the room reaches the desired temperature, depicted as slower, wider arrows.
Horizontal Airflow
Supply air is fed horizontally into the room, reducing the feeling of cold drafts. This airflow is ideal for offices and restaurants.
Textual Description of Horizontal Airflow Distribution Diagram: The diagram shows airflow velocity (m/s) against floor distance (m) for a cooling mode, 4-way flow, with a ceiling height of 3.2m. It illustrates how the air spreads horizontally across the floor.
Textual Description of Horizontal Airflow Scenario: An illustration shows people working at desks, with text indicating that cold air does not affect them directly due to the horizontal airflow.
Easy Installation and Maintenance
Installation Enhancements
- Temporary Hanging Hook: A redesigned panel includes a temporary hanging hook to improve work efficiency during installation.
- Electrical Box Wiring: Redesigned structure improves connectivity and simplifies complex wiring work.
- No Need to Remove Screws: Corner panels and control box screws only need to be loosened, not removed, reducing the risk of losing them.
- Increased Space for Plumbing Work: Reversing pipe positions and structural innovations increase space for spanners, facilitating easier and smoother piping work.
Easy Cleaning
The automatic elevation panel simplifies filter cleaning, even in high-ceiling installations. The panel can automatically elevate up to 4 meters.

Optional Parts
Various optional parts are available for the PLFY-M VEM-E and PLFY-M VEM6-E series, including air outlet shutter plates, multi-function casements, high-efficiency filter elements, space panels, duct flanges, and plasma quad connect.
Panel & Corner Panel Compatibility
A table details the compatibility of various panel models (PLP-6EA, PLP-6EAL, etc.) and corner panel models (PAR-SE9FA-E, PAC-SE1ME-E) with features like signal receivers, 3D i-see Sensor, wireless remote controllers, and auto elevation.
PLFY-P VFM-E1 Series Features
The PLFY-P VFM-E1 series offers a compact design suitable for grid system ceilings (600 mm x 600 mm) while providing 4-way airflow.
Compact Size and Design
- Beautiful Square Design: Matches 2x2 (600 mm x 600 mm) ceiling construction and direct line illuminations for a cohesive aesthetic.
- Above-Ceiling Height of 245 mm: A class-leading height that fits into narrow ceiling spaces.
- Compact & Lightweight Design: Lighter than previous models, facilitating easier suspension.
Horizontal Airflow
Similar to other series, horizontal airflow reduces cold drafts and is ideal for offices and restaurants. The airflow distribution diagram for this series also illustrates the horizontal spread of air.
