Elite™ Android Quick Start Guide for Wave PTX

For the most up-to-date app settings and configurations, check support.motorolasolutions.com.

Step 1: Prepare the Speaker-Microphone (SM)

A black, rugged speaker-microphone (SM) device is shown. It features a prominent push-to-talk (PTT) button on the side and a circular red indicator light near the top. A clip is visible on the back.

Ensure your Elite™ speaker-microphone (SM) is charged before use. Before plugging your SM into the Android device, set the configuration to 5 by pressing the rear button for 4 seconds. The SM will then beep twice in quick succession.

Step 2: Confirm SM Configuration

The SM will beep and flash a red LED a number of times equal to the current configuration.

  • If the SM indicates configuration 5, don't do anything. After 4 seconds, the SM will beep twice in quick succession indicating it is ready for use.
  • If the SM indicates some configuration other than 5, press the rear button 5 times. The SM will then beep and flash the LED 5 times as confirmation. After 4 seconds, the SM will beep twice in quick succession indicating it is ready for use.

Step 3: Configure Wave App Settings

A screenshot of the Wave application on an Android device. The 'In-Call Tones' screen is displayed, listing various tone options such as 'Incoming Call Tone', 'Floor Grant Tone', 'Floor Free Tone', and 'Voice Message Tone', each with an accompanying toggle switch. The 'Floor Grant Tone' toggle is shown in the 'on' position.

Launch the Wave App. Navigate to Settings, Select In-Call Tones, and enable Floor Grant Tone.

Step 4: Disable Google Assistant

A screenshot of an Android device's settings menu. It shows the path 'Google > All Services > Search, Assistant & Voice > Google Assistant > General'. The 'Google Assistant' toggle switch is visible and appears to be in the 'off' position.

Google Assistant can interfere with Zello and wired accessories, so it should be disabled. In the Settings app, select Google > All Services > Search, Assistant & Voice > Google Assistant > General, and disable the Google Assistant toggle.

Step 5: Configure Wired Headphone Settings

A screenshot of an Android device's settings menu, showing the 'Devices' section. It lists 'Wired headphones' and provides an option to 'Get Help From Google', which is depicted with an enabled toggle.

Navigate to the previous menu and select Devices. Select Wired headphones and disable Get Help From Google.

Note: This setting may only appear after the SM has been connected for the first time.

Recommended Settings

  • Enable Call From Lock Screen: This allows the SM to be used while the paired device is locked or asleep.
  • Enable Background Mode: This allows the SM to be used when the app is running in the background with other apps in the foreground.
  • If PTT does not function, go to the app's setting and select Advanced Settings > Accessory Compatibility. The required compatibility mode is device dependent.
